Lotus Herbals Safe Sun De Tan After Sun Face Pack Review

Hello Everyone!

Lotus is a known brand for face packs and herbal skin solutions. I, being an online shopping freak saw this face pack and thought that this could be the solution to my tanning woes. Please read on to know if this met my expectation.


Price and Quantity:

110 INR for 50 gm product.

My Take:

The packaging is a simple orange colored tube with a flip top cap and the directions of use and ingredients are mentioned on the back.

The product is a light orange tinted creamy face pack. Each application requires a small amount of face pack and till now I’ve used it for 15 days with 4 applications so far and I feel this would last till the next month. So that is definitely value for money.

 

Using the face pack:

After using a good face wash you need to apply the face pack on a slightly moist face using hands and spread evenly. The face pack needs to be completely dry before you remove it. It takes around 10-15 min on me. Then you may remove it with water or use a cotton wool dipped in rose water.

Firstly I tan a lot, and I have this strange tendency where my skin turns red with any sun exposure or even heat. And when I return home from a few hours of outdoor activity it feels as if I took a tropical beach holiday. So I am always trying to get a good product to control my tan. Prior to using this I had some dark patches on my face due to tanning and with the second use I saw it to reduce quite a lot. The face pack does reduce tanning but one need to use it twice or thrice a week and if used in conjunction with the de tan face wash this works even better. So I definitely recommend this to all those with tanning problems. It does not show great results with first use but if you keep using it does reduce the tanning and uneven skin tone quite miraculously.

  • No irritations while using (Though you get a bit of stinging sensation for the first use but it’s gone after 30-40 seconds)
  • Reduces uneven skin tone and reduces tanning

CONS:

  • The effect is not immediate and takes a few uses to show.

Hey people!

How many of you have despaired going out during the day in summer season and come back 4 shades darker? I, for one, have hated it like crazy, and truthfully speaking, nothing really helps coming back from spending time in the sun all itchy and sticky and dirty. But I have my defense set up. A simple sunblock works for me.

My Take:

The packaging is a standard Lotus one – shocking orange with a flip top to keep everything hygienic. I carry it around a lot and it does not leak or drip at all. That apart, the texture of this product is runny and it is like a tinted moisturizer. One of the reasons why I absolutely love it is because it gives my skin an instantly even texture and removes excess oils, making my skin look instantly fresh and clean. It is slightly chalky if not blended in properly, so make sure to thoroughly blend it in. It takes a minute to get fully blended in, but it immediately makes the face look more even-toned.

The scent of this product is very pleasant, like sandalwood, which is my favorite, and at times I use this purely for the scent itself. If you are one of those people who love a multi-tasking product, you would love this one. Acting as makeup base, sunblock and mattifying agent, this product makes sure your skin does not look oily and sticky. It stays for hours and makes sure your makeup stays put. I generally put this on before putting on my makeup, and I instantly see my face look fresh and clean. I have also seen that it has a very soothing effect on my sensitive combination skin, and does not break me out at all.

The lasting power of this one is about 2-3 hours in the sun, after which you must reapply it for it to work. It is great for those who are office goers and for those going to college  as it works as a great beauty beginners’ product. It is slightly pale on girls under NC 45 skin tone, so you have to blend it in properly. Otherwise, a fantastic product for its price, and something I have seen all skin types use without any issue. Dry skinned girls, like my sister, love this as well.

My Experience:

Lotus Herbals products have worked pretty well for me. Their lipsticks and sunscreens are my favorite among-st the lot. So I thought of giving their foundation a try because the claims of matte and oil free are a major attraction to me since I’m oily skinned.

The packaging is pretty good. The foundation is packaged in a sturdy plastic bottle having a screw cap. The nozzle has a small hole to dispense the foundation. I prefer this type of packaging where the product doesn’t get waste unlike some foundation bottles which have a wide mouth opening which results in product wastage. This foundation bottle easily fits in your bag due to its sleek design.

Now let’s talk about the shade. When it comes to selecting foundations, I always go for the shade in beige. Any foundation having the beige shade matches my skin tone very well.

So you ought to be careful while choosing the right shade for you. I only wish there were more shades.

Coming to the actual product, the foundation has a medium consistency. It is a bit difficult to blend. Since I use Lotus Herbals Matte Sunscreen first, it makes the task of blending this foundation more difficult. So I mix this foundation with a small quantity of moisturizer for easy blending. It dries up in around 2 minutes or so. This foundation has a mild floral fragrance which goes away soon after application.

This foundation gives a light coverage. This one is not for those who want full coverage. It is more like a tinted moisturizer. I like the fact that it does not feel heavy on my skin. So it is true to its claims of feather-feel. The foundation won’t give the cake or made up look even if you layer it on. It also evens out the skin tone well. The foundation has SPF-20 which is an added bonus. If you are in a hurry you can skip the sunscreen. I am so addicted to my sunscreen, I never skip it especially during summer. About its claims of being oil free, my face slowly turns oily in around 3 hours. After that I need to touch up with compact. This one works better compared to some oil free foundations which I have used. I ended up with an oily face within an hour. So this one works better.

  • Perfect for those having oily skin

My Take on Lotus Herbals Pure Colors Lipstick Pink Blush:

I just cannot do without a lipstick. I’m addicted to it. I’m not a lip gloss person as lip glosses do not stay on long and are sticky. Also I don’t need that extra shine on my lips as my facial skin is super oily (that’s enough of shine!). So I prefer matte or satin finish lipsticks. Here is a review on a shade which will be loved by all and is personally by favorite.

The lipstick case is gold and beige in colour. The packaging is okay. Not great though. The gold colour of the inner tube fades away after some time. The cap shuts tightly and is thus travel friendly.

The lipstick has a faint fragrance which is not bothersome at all. It goes away soon after application.

Pink Blush is a warm pink colour with mauve undertones. It does look very dark in the tube, but on the lips it shows up as a medium toned lipstick. It glides on smoothly. Everyone loves such lipsticks which are smooth to apply. It has no shimmers and the finish is somewhat matte and slightly glossy. This shade is very pigmented. Just two swipes will give you opaque coverage and hides pigmentation. It may show up slightly different on pigmented lips. I prefer applying a lip balm underneath as it is a bit drying but you won’t be bothered much about the drying part.

It stays put on my lips for around 3 hours and after that fades away evenly and leaves behind a pinkish tint. Considering the affordable price, the staying power is okay. I like the fact that it doesn’t settle in fine lines and doesn’t bleed at all. I always prefer using a lip liner.

This shade will suit everyone from fair skinned to dusky skinned. You don’t have to worry about this shade not suiting you. This is a very affordable product and perfect for daily use. Office goers can wear this shade without any worries (definitely not a loud shade). In fact anyone can pull it off! Right from teenagers to middle aged ladies.

I apply a light coat of foundation on my lips to act as a base. This helps to even out the color  Always remember to remove the excess color from your lips. Blot your lips with a tissue to absorb the excess colour and apply a second layer of the lipstick. Your lipstick will stay on longer if you fill the whole lip with a light lip liner. Darker lip liner will darken the look of your lipstick.

Coming to my query, I used to have a healthy pale complexion but now I lost it due to traveling in bus to college 40km frm my hometown. I came to know that Lotus Licorice Skin Whitening Soap is good for tanned skin.  But then I got to know from a friend of mine that is should be used on body and not on the face. Can I use it on face? If not, please suggest me a good herbal soap for tanned facial skin. Thank you.

You have asked whether you can use the Lotus Herbals Licorice Skin Whitening Soap on your facial skin or not. The main reason that one should not use soap bar on facial skin is that, it may contain more chemicals than a face wash; and hence it might excessively dry out the delicate facial skin. You might be knowing already that facial skin is very delicate when compared to the body skin so when it comes to facial tan removal, a good tan removing face pack or even a face wash might help.
I have used this Licorice whitening soap from Lotus Herbals brand and it is really a very good product to say. Though it doesn’t whiten skin, it removes tan effectively with regular usage but I doubt whether it would suit your facial skin or not. For body skin, I do highly recommend it for you. Give a try if you have an oily facial skin; (As dry skin may get even drier with soap usage) if you don’t experience any irritations on the skin after usage, you can continue with this soap for sometime and check whether it removes your facial tan or not. The fragrance of this soap is divine! (I personally love it very much)
And for facial tan removal, I suggest using Nature Essence Lacto Tan Clear at least twice a week. This is my current HG face pack (or what is it? Not sure) to get rid of unwanted tans and ugly marks. I hope you are satisfied with my answer and tidbits.

Packaging: Lotus Herbals Berryscrub comes in a soft press able plastic tube which is partially see-through. The tube has a flip cap with a hole for the product to run out. The details about the product and brand are printed on the top side of the tube body with an attractive shiny finish.

Colour, Consistency & Fragrance: The color of the scrub product is transparent base with brown-orange mixed type of scrubbing particles. The base is like a gel.
The consistency is very thin and runny. You tilt the tube, all the product inside the tube runs from one side to another. Though the base looks like a gel, it is very watery.

The fragrance of the product is somewhere in between mild to strong. The name of the scrub says Strawberry and Aloe vera, forget aloe vera, there is no smell of strawberry too on my smelling senses. There is some amount of sour fruity scent indicating the lemon and orange extracts being present.
How it works: Lotus Herbals Berryscrub Face Wash lathers minimum. The scrub granules are of mixed shape and sharpness. There are some which are a little big than needed for face scrubbing and they are sharp too. These scrub the face a little more that needed. The package says All Skin Types; definitely no, the scrub is a little harsh on the dry skin. Also it is not suitable during winter for removing the dead skin flakes. This is a good product for oily skin. My skin felt more dry and stretchy after washing with this product.
But, I have found another way of using this product, as a body scrub. This gives a very good massaging sensation when rubbed on the body. You can skip your usual body wash the day you introduce this Lotus scrub. It scrubs and washes too very well. The much needed scrubbing for heels, elbow, knee joint, and back of the neck is done by Lotus Herbals Berryscrub Face Wash.

PROS:

  • Easy handling tube package with flip cap.
  • See though tube.
  • Mixed type of scrub.
  • Gel based.
  • Available at good price.
  • Makes a very good body scrub.
  • Removes dead cells and leaves the skin soft when used as a body scrub.

CONS:

  • Not a good face scrub.
  • There are some harsh scrub particles which are not suitable for face scrubbing.
  • Suitable for oily skin, not good for dry skin.

Do I Recommend?: Yes. Though not a perfect face scrub, it is a perfect body scrub.
