Lotus Herbals has brought in many products that are commendable. Today I’m going to review a lip gloss from their range. This is named as the “Seduction Botanical Tinted Lip Gloss”. The shade is “Berry Smoothie”.

My Experience:

Packaging: The packaging is quite sturdy and simple and is absolutely safe to carry in your handbag. The body of the container is transparent showing the color and the quantity left.

Color, Consistency & Fragrance: Berry Smoothie is a pink colored gloss. The consistency is semi-solid and not too runny, making the application easy. It has mild floral fragrance that does not bother at all.

How it works: I am personally not a lip gloss person. At times I get attracted seeing their display at counters. So, this was one of my impulsive shopping. But definitely I was not let down by this. The gloss has a doe-foot applicator. The applicator picks up enough product on the first go. Nevertheless, the color can be built with two or more swipes. This is my on-the-go lip gloss..when I don’t want anything heavy on my lips.  It does not give heavy coverage, so not very suitable for pigmented lips. I use a concealer pencil beneath to get a neat even coverage. It lasts for 2-3 hours without meals/drinks in between.This can be applied over a lippie but I do not prefer it that way. The gloss contains mild shimmer that doesn’t show-up evidently when applied.

PROS:

  • Decently priced lip gloss from lotus herbals
  • Good quality for the price
  • Color range is wide; you have 15 shades to choose from!
  • Feels light on lips; not sticky or heavy
  • Doesn’t dry out lips

CONS:

  • Staying power is less
  • Though not drying, it doesn’t moisturize the lips as well.

Last year Lotus herbals launched their skin care range called “Lotus white glow range”

Face wash, scrub, cream, emulsion, serum and mask are part of this series. Somehow I really don’t like skin whitening products because most of them are drying in nature. Once I used Olay cream and it broke me out crazily :( but still the packaging, reviews on many blogs attracted me a lot and I have to try something from this range :p so I picked this white glow scrub and here is my experience and detailed review on it.

Product description:
WHITEGLOW Oatmeal & Yogurt Skin Whitening Scrub exfoliates the skin gently, removes dirt, impurities, whiteheads and blackheads leaving your skin brighter and healthier with a shining glow. The gentle exfoliating action works on skin discoloration, dull and uneven skin tones and softens the skin giving you a firmer skin texture. Oatmeal exfoliates gently, restores the natural moisture balance of skin and yogurt moisturizes and lightens the skin reducing imperfections giving you silky, smooth and brighter skin.

Key Ingredients: Oatmeal and milk yogurt

Usage Directions: Gently apply the scrub on moistened skin with brisk circular movement on the face and neck. Rinse thoroughly and pat dry. Use twice a week for brighter skin. Follow with yogurt radiance mask for best results.

My Experience

Packaging: The product comes in a pretty white tube with a metallic cap but this tube is not at all travel friendly as the cap is loose and the tube tends to break easily in case if it fell down.

Colour, Consistency and Fragrance: This scrub is creamy white in colour and thick in consistency. It has a very artificial smell which is very disturbing for my sensitive nose.

How it works: I have a love and hate relationship with Lotus Herbals. Some of their products (Berry Berry scrub and 4-1 sunscreen)suits me well but some make my skin dry (there face packs including fruit pack which is meant for dry skin). Okay let me concentrate on this product. I didn’t have a good experience with this product. This scrub just adds a lil glow to my skin after application which lasts hardly for 10 minutes. I am using this scrub regularly twice a week for more than two months to see the effect but to be frank it does nothing to my skin. I did not expect any whitening and brightening results from this scrub because I know nothing can change our original skin color apart from some heavy bleach like kojic acid and hydroquinone. It did not help me in removing acne scars, black heads and white heads. Wanna know more? It is harsh on my sensitive skin! :( but the only good thing about the product is it does not dry our my skin or broke me out. Overall, this is an average-good scrub for normal-dry skin types. If you’re skin is skin is extra sensitive, then do not go for this.

Pros:

  • Affordable
  • Available easily
  • Its not drying; hence dry skins will love it
  • Does the exfoliation part well
  • Adds a little glow to the face after usage
    Does not break me out
  • Works good as a foot scrub :p

I am really sorry I cant think of any other pros :(

Cons:

  • It claims too many things but delivers nothing
  • It’s not at all a gentle product for sensitive skin types.
  • Smell bad and artificial.
  • Tube breaks easily and not travel friendly
  • Contains a big list of chemicals.
  •  Pareben is present. How could Lotus herbals says it’s a herbal product? :O

Makeup and Beauty Home Rating: 2/5 (Because it is working well as a foot scrub :p)

Recommendation: If you have sensitive nose cum sensitive skin then please don’t waste your money on this product.:( However  normal-dry skinned people may find this scrub good on their skin because it isn’t drying and moreover, it doesn’t break out skin.

Lotus Herbals Kera-Veda Soyashine Shampoo Review

It has been a long time I reviewed shampoos and today I felt like reviewing one and have chosen the Lotus Herbals Kera-Veda Soyashine shampoo. I had been using this shampoo for past one month and have another variant of Shika Shampoo in Lotus herbals too, but still I wanted to review this first. I will be reviewing the conditioner later so keep on reading. Few lines about Lotus herbals as per the site are “Lotus Herbals products are honest herbal formulations. Inspired by Ayurveda, a 5000 year old science of life, each product contains combination extracts of different herbs to protect, heal and enhance the face, body and hair. Lotus Herbals is a reputed, trusted and valued natural products’ brand. Formulated in India, it has the distinction of being one of the most sought after brands in many asian and european countries.” Okay now let us move on to my review.
Lotus Herbals Kera-Veda Soyashine Shampoo
Price: Rs.165 for 220 ml
Shelf Life: 3 years.
Product Description
This Unique combination of soya Protein and Brahmi not only strengthens and nourishes lifeless, thin and delicate hair, but also adds luster and bounce to them. The hydrolyzed soya protein penetrates and strengthens hair to protect against damage while Brahmi darkens hair color and promotes hair growth as well.
Usage Directions 
Apply the desired quantity on wet hair and lather it up. Rinse thoroughly. Follow it with SOYASMOOTH Conditioner for best results.
My Views and Ratings
The Packaging
The shampoo comes in a flat yellow plastic bottle with a green flip top cap. I first of all was satisfied with the packaging as it is hygienic but the flip cap is so hard to open. It ends in hurting my thumb at times :( Other than that the bottle is sturdy and travel friendly.

Colour, Consistency & Fragrance
The colour is semi trasparent + white mixed and the texture is smooth, neither thick nor too runny. I expected the fragrance to be flowery or sweet but it has just an ordinary herbal smell.

How it Works
I used this shampoo for about 3 weeks and it doesn’t make my hair shiny or bouncy as per the claims. It is a normal shampoo which adds a some shine to hair but definitely not for dry scalps and dry hair types. It lathers pretty good and a single bottle lasts for a long time. This shampoo didn’t work for my hair fall much and overall, it is a normal herbal shampoo with at least no side effects. I recommend this shampoo for oily and normal hair types, surely not for dry scalps. I will be starting to use this once again, but with the soya shine conditioner to give my review of the soyashine conditioner.

  2. Not pricey, comes in a decent rate.
  3. Travel friendly.
  4. Hair smells fresh on the day of hair wash.
  5. Doesn’t leave hair greasy soon.
  6. Adds little shine to the hair.
  7. No side effects.
  8. A good shampoo for oily scalps as well as natural product lovers.
  9. Lathers pretty good.
  10. Rinses out completely without the need of much water.
CONS
  1. Availability issues. 
  2. Not for dry scalps.
  3. Doesn’t make  my hair soft or smooth as I expected.
  4. Contain parabens.
  5. The flip cap should be improved. 
My Recommendation: Only for oily scalps. This shampoo doesn’t nourish dry scalps at all. Overall a good herbal shampoo, not the best.
Overall Rating: 3.5/5
Will I Repurchase?: Not sure! May be after this bottle gets over.. But I prefer some other nourishing ones.

Lotus Herbals Natural Blend Swift Makeup Review

I am reviewing now, a 4 in 1 makeup product from Lotus herbals which claims to act as a Foundation, Concealer, Matt powder finish but yet moisturizing and has UV protection. Isn’t that interesting? I got this product as one of the part of the Lotus Herbals Gorgeous Natural Diva kit and using it now and then when I step out. A great plus of this product is that is a herbal one. I always prefer naturally made products for my skin than chemicals and hence this one made me say yeah. I have already reviewed the Pure Color Lipstick from this kit. It is a lovely red rose shade for daily wear, suits most of the Indian skin tones. My first impression with this swift makeup stick was quite good as it is attractive with a 4 in 1 claim and comes in a cute handy pack. Now let us move on to my detailed review and swatches.

My Views and Ratings
The Packaging
The natural blend swift makeup SPF 15 comes in a red with golden coloured twist type stick like lipsticks come. This makes every application easier and quicker. The pack is sturdy and no chance for any damage while travel, so travel friendly too. The stick is very handy, colourful and overall, nice packaging. But I felt the cap and the stick can be more cuter and firmer (he he greedy me)

Colour, Texture and Fragrance
This product comes in 3 different shades and thus it can be easier to choose one of your skin type. It glides onto the skin so smoothly without any hardness and blends quickly. The fragrance is similar to that of compacts, sure it is not overpowering. No bad I find in it. Sorry

How it Works
I use my fingers to blend this onto my skin as brush gives a streaky look, however you can use makeup sponges to blend it evenly. This doesn’t give a high matte effect as per the claim but it gives a nice glow and dewy effect to my facial skin. The coverage of this makeup stick can be taken as low-medium. It helps to hide minor imperfections and light dark circles but big spots and other scars cannot be completely hidden. It stays for up to 7 hours and fades eventually without any artificial look.  I would say this a best makeup stick for everyday formal or casual wear as this gives no heavy makeup look. It’s light, gentle, side effect free and gives a nice glow. However, oily girls will need a compact to get matte effect as this may make you feel little oily. This is a great product for dry skinned beauties to carry on their handbag everyday. Overall, a good product again from Lotus Herbals.

  2. Blends easily onto the skin without any streaky or cakey effect.
  3. Sturdy, compact and travel friendly packaging. Can easily carry around.
  4. Hides imperfections and dark circles around eyes up to an extent.
  5. SPF it has. No worry about harmful sun rays however using along with a sunscreen in hard summers in advisable.
  6. Great staying power of 7 hours.
  7. You get a large amount of product for this cost, which is worthy too. So, it is affordable.
  8. Gives a nice glow with every application. No whitish caste or oiliness.
  9. This would be a love for dry skinned beauties in all the seasons, however in winters you may need a moisturizer.
CONS
  1. Doesn’t hide big spots and scars but this cannot be taken as a con for the price and worth.
  2. No ingredient list mentioned.
  3. Not sure about how it suits extremely oily skinned girls in summers. Winter is okay-okay.
My Recommendation: Go for it! A nice buy. A single stick will last for months.

The lipstick comes in a smooth edged feminine rectangular tube. The tube looks good with the golden shade sand sturdy enough to be travel safely. Nothing to say so good or too bad about the packaging of this lipstick.

Swatch on my hand
 It has a lovely shade which seemed like a mixture of plum and pink. The shade would suit most of the Indian skin complexions except the very darker ones. If slightly applied, that is not going to be a problem for dark skinned beauties too. The texture is so smooth, soft and easily spreadable and this lipstick smells sweet. Not too much sweet or fruity like the flavored ones, still it has a decent smell.

The pure colour lipstick spreads so smoothly over the lips and gives a slight glossy finish. Even if you have dry lips, this will spread on yours without any hardness. I must say that the staying power of this pure colour lipstick is really great! It stays upto 3 hours and eventually fades without settling into lines or looking patchy. Even after it fades off, it leaves behind a cute pinkish stain which stayed for hours. The most lovable thing of this lipstick is the staying power, the second place goes to the shade.

In dry winters, you may need a lip balm under this lipstick but in summers, I doubt it may bleed a little if you use a lip balm under it. So, overall, I am in love with this red rose shade of pure colour range from the Lotus herbals and I planned to try the other shades as well.

  2. Spreads incredibly smooth even on dry lips. Gives a slight glossy finish.
  3. Doesn’t dry out lips anytime, However extremely dry lips may need a lip balm.
  4. Good amount for the cost, lasts really long.
  5. Sturdy and travel friendly packaging.
  6. Contains natural ingredients like jojoba oil which really does wonders on your lips.
  7. Perfect shade for everyday usage, suits well with most of the costumes.
  8. A very wide variety of shades available in this pure colour range. 
  9. Very gentle on lips, I didn’t experience any side effects.
  10. Staying powder is really great! I highly recommend this one for it’s staying power first.
  11. Doesn’t settle into fine lines or uneven patches.
  12. 2 swipes are enough for a opaque coverage. Hides imperfections and uneven colours decently.
  13. The fragrance is sweet and not that overpowering. 
CONS
  1. In summers, if used with a lip balm, it slightly bleeds.
  2. The shade doesn’t suit very dark complexions. This can’t be taken as a con, you can check out for other shades from this range.
No other con! I love this lipstick and the whole pure colour range from Lotus Herbals very much.
My Recommendation: Go for it! Perfect for everyday use, doesn’t make lips dry or patchy. A great shaded lipstick from the Lotus Herbals pure colour range. I highly recommend it.

I want my winter back and I feel hot and irritated all the time even if it’s just a beginning! Don’t you? A week before, when I was so much irritated of the humid weather and lying on my sofa, the courier man came.. With a Lotus Herbals Gorgeous Natural Diva Kit!!! Yippee..
