Dove Go Fresh Face Wash Oily Skin Care Review

I hope you all are doing well, beauties. I had bought this face wash long time back and it will expire soon! I never got the courage to use it on my face but finally I tried it and here are the results.

My Experience:

This face wash comes in a cute looking tube with an orange flip top cap and they have mentioned Oily Skin care in front, which was enough for me to buy it.

The texture of this one is somewhat like a moisturizing cream. It does not form bubbles when applied but it foams up like a cream. The foam is thick and extremely creamy and may seem excessively moisturizing. This made me afraid as my skin is very oily and sensitive and if I apply any creamy product on my face, it makes my skin oily and breaks me out. I was so wrong.. this face wash gets washed off in seconds and the most surprising thing is that is tightened my skin, removed every possible trace of oil and dirt and my face was squeaky clean and free of oil.

I love this face wash very much. However, this face wash dries out the skin and will not suit normal skin or dry skin. It has been specially made for oily skinned girls like me (I am doing the happy dance, right now). Finally, I have found the product, which is perfect for my skin. I am extremely happy. Do not freak out by seeing the creamy foam. It is actually for oily skinned beauties! It never ever broke me out or irritated my skin. After my Cetaphil Cleansing lotion, this is my most loved product. It does not make any sky-high false promises and does what it claims. Brightens the skin and my skin is left feeling clean and non-oily. The fragrance is almost same as the Air Wick water based citrus room freshener but a bit too sweaty.

  • Removes every trace of oil and dirt
  • Tightens the skin
  • A very small amount of product is required
  • Foams up nicely
  • Specially formulated for oily skin
  • Brightens the skin temporarily
  • Did not break me out
  • Zero stickiness left behind
  • Cleans very effectively
  • No SLS or Parabens
  • Gives a matte look to the face which soon becomes semi matte(due to oil secretion) which lasts for about 2 hours

CONS:

  • Maybe too drying (not a con as it clearly mentions that the product is for oily skin)
  • I wish it was fragrance free
  • Makes the hair stiff and dry if it touches it

VLCC Anti Tan Skin Lightening Face Wash Review

First of all I would like to say a big thank you to Lancy for making me a part of this community and also many thanks to all the readers and members of MABH who have so far given me encouraging comments on my reviews. Thanks once again.

Today, here is a review on my favorite face wash, VLCC Anti Tan Skin Lightening Face Wash. I was looking out for a product which would soothe my skin after coming home from work. As I was browsing for stuff online, this face wash caught my attention and so I decided to give this face wash a try. And I must say I’m impressed with this product so far.

Rs. 95 for 50 gm.

 

Shelf life: 

Use before 36 months from the date of manufacture.

 

My Experience:

Packaging: This VLCC product comes in an attractive packaging. I love the colors used on the pack. The face wash pack comes with a bright orange colored flip top cap which shuts tightly. So there is no fear of any leakage.

Color, Consistency & Fragrance: The product is runny in consistency with minute granules. This is the only negative point. Most of the time I end up with much more than what I need. So be careful while you tilt the face wash. Also, due to its runny consistency, the face wash doesn’t last long. It will last only about a month or so. The fragrance is fruity and refreshing.

 

How it works: The face wash contains minute granules which are not harsh at all. It effectively removes all the dirt and cleanses the face well. It is best to use as soon as you come home after a long tiring day. Continuous usage helps in removing tan (I’ve seen the difference in my skin tone). This face wash works wonders on pigmented skin and lessens the appearance of pores.

This face wash has such a wonderful fruity fragrance. It instantly freshens me up after a boring day at work! I’ve never smelt a face wash with such a refreshing scent. It also keeps my skin oil free for about three-four hours. It might be a little harsh on those having dry skin. So I would suggest dry skinned people to stay away from it.
The best part of this product is that its ingredients are completely herbal. I personally prefer herbal products as they do not irritate sensitive skin. Using products having harsh chemicals can take a toll on the skin in the long run.

 

PROS

  • Keeps the skin refreshed and oil free.
  • Effectively reduces tan.
  • Ingredients are herbal.
  • Perfect for those having oily and combination skin.
  • Wonderful fragrance.
  • Economically priced.
  • Travel friendly packaging.

CONS

  • Might not be suitable for dry skinned people.
  • I hate the runny consistency. A lot of product gets wasted this way.
  • The product tends to accumulate at the nozzle. I just don’t like the sight of that.

Do I recommend?

Those having oily and combination skin go for it! It’s the best in the market so far.

 

Would I repurchase?

Yes! Nothing can stop me from buying this face wash time and again. Anything that is herbal and removes tan gets a thumbs up from me.

Clean & Clear Morning Energy Face Wash Brightening Berry Review

So, how have all of you been doing today? I have another review, this time a face wash. This is one product that is so important in the cleansing, toning and moisturizing routine that one cannot afford to make a mistake when selecting the right one for you. It can either make or break your day. I never knew how important it is to NOT use soap on your face until I accidentally started using a face wash. And, now there’s no looking back. I have found my go-to face wash, Ponds daily face wash. However, as always nothing stops me from trying out different and new products just for the heck of it!!

   Today, the star is Clean & Clear morning energy face wash. This is not the regular. It has undergone modifications or so it claims. We’ll soon find out about that. I got this face wash not because I was unhappy with my Pond’s but I was totally sold out on how it looks!! Just look at it people.. the cute bottle, the color, the bursting beads (?) in it.. I fell for the packaging. Excellent marketing I must say!! But, me happy that I got a small bottle and you’ll know why once you read on.
Price & Quantity:

Rs. 50 for 50 ml.

 

Key Ingredients:

Special ingredients (??) but otherwise NONE!!! mentioned. I wonder what special ingredients go into this apart from the berries

 

Shelf Life:

24 months from the date of manufacture.

 

My Experience:

Packaging: Like I said the packaging is cute. I fell for it. It is a small clear plastic bottle with a purple flip cap. I am not sure how travel friendly it is but seems so unless it’s squished or squeezed inside the suitcase!

Color, Consistency & Fragrance: The color is a nice light pink. The texture is typically face wash, soapy but light and runny and not creamy and thick. Plus, you can see the bursting beads in it. Getting it out of the bottle for a picture was quite a tedious task for me. The smell is very BERRY-BERRY. So fruity and so sweet and so nice.. I love the smell :D

 

How it works for me: It DID NOT work for me. But then that is because I have extremely dry skin. It broke me out big time after I used it just two times! I guess the packaging lured me into it especially the pink beads in it.
The face wash as such is a little runny and does not lather very much. It gives a squeaky clean effect but it leaves behind a feeling that there is some residue left behind. Surprisingly, though it says oil-free, it is not too drying for my skin too. The smell however is gone after the wash. I am not sure of their claims of bursting energy and so on and so forth but then mine is not the skin type to be tested upon. I cannot speak for the bursting beads effect too as they are too tiny to lay your hands on to burst them. But, yes it does brighten up the face. Plus, it does not sting or irritate the eye much unlike many others.

Those with oily skin will like it because my oily-skin sister-in-law vouches for this. She does not use any other! And it does not clog pores or so my sister says. Being a Johnson & Johnson product, it speaks for itself. It comes in two more variants, a yellow one and a green one but I have not checked on them. Have any one of you tried these? How did it work for you?

PROS:

  • Its not pricey.
  • Availability in all drugstores and supermarkets.
  • The packaging and smell is pleasant and travel friendly too.
  • The consistency is runny and light.
  • Lathers pretty okay.
  • Oily-skin individuals will like it.
  • Oil-free and won’t clog pores.
  • Squeaky clean feel after wash.
  • Does brighten up face as claimed.
  • Not drying as claimed.
  • Does not irritate eyes.

CONS:

  • The smell does not linger on for long.
  • Not meant for dry-skin individuals obviously.
  • No ingredients mentioned.
  • Mediocre face wash.

 
Rating:
3/5 (-1 as it did not suit me, -1 as it is just very mediocre).

 

Do I Recommend?:

Those with oily skin wil benefit from this. But, if you have your go-to face wash, don’t bother. Else, worth a try. Can be a hit or miss!

 

Would I Repurchase?:

On a serious note, NO! but then if something is so cute, how can you pass it by??? Would you?

Clean and Clear Daily Pore Cleanser Review

Hello everyone! I’m Eleena and this is my first review on MABH. I’m thrilled to join the MABH community and looking forward to making new friends here. So my first review is on one of my favourite product- Clean & Clear Daily Pore Cleanser.

           Since I’m oily skinned, I prefer oil free products. I was looking out for a cleanser cum scrub. I tried various products but I was not satisfied until I came across this cleanser. I am not sure about its availability in India as this was given to me by my aunt who lives in the U.S. If any of you do happen to come across this product here in India, then do let me know. Although, different variants of Clean & Clear face washes are easily available.

 

Price & Quantity:

$ 4.99 for 5.5 OZ. (156 g)

My Take:

The product comes in a flip top cap. You have to be careful when you open the cap as the product is runny in consistency and you might end up with more amount than you actually need. This cleanser is bulky and therefore not travel friendly.

The cleanser is white in colour and contains numerous micro scrubbers which give gentle exfoliation. It leaves my skin feeling squeaky clean and soft. It has a wonderful fragrance.

It lathers up well. A little goes a long way. After usage my skin remains oil free for a good 3-4 hours. The best time to use this cleanser is at night, before you go to bed. It doesn’t dry me out maybe because I’m oily skinned. But for those having dry skin it may feel stretchy. A moisturizer is a must after use. But I would not recommend this cleanser daily. Limit usage to 2-3 times per week. The micro scrubbers are gentle and won’t over exfoliate.

PROS:

  • A boon for oily skinned people
  • Smells nice
  • Controls oil for around 4 hours
  • Pea sized amount is enough. Thus, the product will last long.
  • Didn’t break me out.

CONS:

  • It might be a little harsh on those with dry skin, will need a moisturizer after use.
  • I hate the runny consistency of the product, as most of the time I end up with excess amount.

Do I Recommend?:
I would recommend this product for anyone with combination, oily or blemish prone skin. Dry skinned people, go for something that is moisturizing.

 

Would I Repurchase?:

Well, yes! I will re purchase (or for that matter tell my aunt to get me another one! haa haa). The main reason being it suits my skin type and cleans my face really well.

My Experience:

Packaging: Lotus Herbals Berryscrub comes in a soft press able plastic tube which is partially see-through. The tube has a flip cap with a hole for the product to run out. The details about the product and brand are printed on the top side of the tube body with an attractive shiny finish.

Colour, Consistency & Fragrance: The color of the scrub product is transparent base with brown-orange mixed type of scrubbing particles. The base is like a gel.
The consistency is very thin and runny. You tilt the tube, all the product inside the tube runs from one side to another. Though the base looks like a gel, it is very watery.

The fragrance of the product is somewhere in between mild to strong. The name of the scrub says Strawberry and Aloe vera, forget aloe vera, there is no smell of strawberry too on my smelling senses. There is some amount of sour fruity scent indicating the lemon and orange extracts being present.
How it works: Lotus Herbals Berryscrub Face Wash lathers minimum. The scrub granules are of mixed shape and sharpness. There are some which are a little big than needed for face scrubbing and they are sharp too. These scrub the face a little more that needed. The package says All Skin Types; definitely no, the scrub is a little harsh on the dry skin. Also it is not suitable during winter for removing the dead skin flakes. This is a good product for oily skin. My skin felt more dry and stretchy after washing with this product.
But, I have found another way of using this product, as a body scrub. This gives a very good massaging sensation when rubbed on the body. You can skip your usual body wash the day you introduce this Lotus scrub. It scrubs and washes too very well. The much needed scrubbing for heels, elbow, knee joint, and back of the neck is done by Lotus Herbals Berryscrub Face Wash.

PROS:

  • Easy handling tube package with flip cap.
  • See though tube.
  • Mixed type of scrub.
  • Gel based.
  • Available at good price.
  • Makes a very good body scrub.
  • Removes dead cells and leaves the skin soft when used as a body scrub.

CONS:

  • Not a good face scrub.
  • There are some harsh scrub particles which are not suitable for face scrubbing.
  • Suitable for oily skin, not good for dry skin.
Rating: 3/5
Do I Recommend?: Yes. Though not a perfect face scrub, it is a perfect body scrub.
Would I Repurchase ?: Yes. I am on my third tube.

Forest Essentials Delicate Facial Cleanser (Mashroba Honey, Lemon and Rosewater) Review

I had heard a lot about Forest Essentials and was very tempted to get at least 1 product. Also I realized that my current cleanser was hardly doing its job and leaving me oily faced and dull:-(. So after a lot of fighting with my debit card and my conscience, I finally got my hands on this ‘wonder in a bottle’.

Product Description:
The first rule of Ayurvedic skin care is cleanse, tone and nourish. The secret to proper cleansing is to remove dead cells and toxins, clear clogged pores and clean make-up without stripping the skin’s natural oils and moisture content.

Experience with this Product:

Packaging: It comes in a plastic bottle with a pump dispenser and a plastic lid. Perfect for travelling( I just put this in my handbag a couple of days ago and it hasn’t spilled. Touchwood) Also the bottle is see through so you can keep a track of how much you use.

Colour, Consistency & Fragrance: It’s the colour of honey (obviously!!). Consistency is neither thick nor runny.
And the fragrance is TO DIE FOR. It smells of honey and rosewater( Aaaaaah heaven!!)

How it works: I am in love with this cleanser. It works perfectly for my sensitive skin. One pump and my face is clean and glowing. It doesn’t dry out my skin. I have the habit of washing my face often and this keeps my face fresh. Apply a small amount on wet skin and massage it in small circular motions. Rinse with water and voila! Your face glows.

PROS:

  •     Suits sensitive skin perfectly
  •     Doesn’t dry out skin
  •     No chemicals at all.
  •     Against animal testing (Yay animal lovers)
  •     Very travel friendly.
  •     Heavenly smell
  •     Hygienic since it comes in a pump dispenser
  •     Gives quite a nice glow
  •     One bottle comes for atleast 2 months
  •     No lather
  •     No need for a moisturizer :)

CONS:

  •     Price.
  •     Lather lovers might feel that it doesn’t do its job.

My Rating: 4.5/5 (I have reduced 0.5 for the price)

Recommendation:
This cleanser would suit all beauties. It’s very gentle on the skin and doesn’t dry out your skin. Only negative is the exorbitant price but 1 bottle comes easily for a couple of months.

Would I Repurchase: Yes. But I might go for other variants. I got this from their official website. You can also purchase it from Urban Touch.
