I am back with a review on Dove body lotion. Summer is here and I’m sure none of us would like to slather heavy moisturizers on our skin. Short and sweet, this is a light body lotion perfect for summers. :)

My Experience:

This is one of my favorite body lotions for summer. It comes in a white plastic bottle with a flip flop cap. the lotion is light green in color. It smells fresh exactly like the dove go fresh bars. So refreshing and pleasant. But doesn’t linger for a long time.

The texture of the lotion is very light. It gets absorbed so easily. It is non greasy, so you will love it during summers. What I love the most with this lotion is, it gives a THANDA THANDA effect right after you finish applying it, which is to be welcomed during GARAM GARAM summers. But it doesn’t keep your skin moisturized for a long time.

Dry skinned girls will definitely feel to reapply it with a decent interval of time. It has become my HG body lotion for summers.

PROS:

  • Affordable
  • Availability
  • Light texture, absorbs easily
  • Cooling effect
  • Moisturizes well
  • Nice smell

CONS:

  • 24hrs claim is wrong
  • Might not suit very dry skinned ones
  • No SPF

The Body Shop Atlas Mountain Rose Body Lotion Review

Hello everyone!

The Body Shop is a renowned brand worldwide providing quality products made from natural ingredients. Other than full sized products TBS also provides some gift packs and kits at various prices for different occasions. So this body lotion came along a small kit of Atlas Mountain Bath and Body Range with an Atlas Mountain Rose Shower Gel and a loofah.

These kits are great for gifting as well as trying products before purchasing the full sized ones. So as the theme is rose the packaging of this Cube Kit was pink with a pink shower loofah along with the shower gel and body lotion.

Price and Quantity:

This body lotion was priced at Rs. 325 for 60 ml

My Take:

The packaging of TBS products are always quite well and of great quality. Here the packaging is a flip cap bottle with the product name and picture pasted on the bottle itself. It is not tacky or cheap but superior quality. The price, manufacturing details as well as ingredients are mentioned on the bottle.

The product is a white looking watery liquid. It is a bit runny and one needs very little product per use so this small bottle will last sometime.

The smell is quite nice too. The smell is a floral rosy smell which stays at least 2 hours after applying and then fades. The lotion is not very heavy so those with very dry skin will not get great hydration from this one.

While I and HE (Would be Hubby) both love the smell and find it both romantic and very feminine. It is a bit artificial and strong too so those with sensitive noses so do try it before purchasing. The reason I love it is the smell stays for a long time .

PROS:

  • Natural ingredients causing no side effects and irritations
  • Light so can be applied all over the year
  • Smells very nice and the smell fragrance stays for nearly 2 hours
  • Great for gifting

CONS:

  • Price
  • Quantity seems very less
  • The Body shop is available online but some feel a lack of availability due to the lack of outlets.
  • Limited Edition

Though both HE and I love the smell I feel it’s not something one should definitely have. You can try it at the store and then decide to buy.

Dove Silky Nourishment Body Cream Review

Today, I shall be reviewing the Dove Body cream. As far as I have observed most of the girls are more into lotions now a days. Since creams are believed to be greasy and thick and leave you feeling all coated :/ But this one is different! It is light and doesn’t make you feel as if you have layered yourself in some oily substance! Let us check more about the product. Read on to know more!

Price and Quantity:

Rs.380 for 300 ml tub

 

My Take:

This body lotion comes in a white plastic tub which is very elegant just like any other dove product. It has a screw type lid. The tub is not very handy and travel friendly. It is quite big and tough to carry in an average sized handbag :( However, you can transfer some cream in another container if you need to carry it.

The lotion has a very  light creamy consistency (like that of whipped cream). It gives a smooth and hassle free application, absorbs quickly and deeply into skin. Fragrance is very mild and should not be a problem for sensitive noses.

A routine use body lotion which as per me holds equally good for face as well. In fact I have personally been using it for face and neck exclusively. It is non greasy, spreads evenly on skin. It is essentially water based yet rich enough to penetrate deeply in skin and make it feel nourished and supple. Best part is that it can be used in summers too! However, store it in refrigerator in summers if you want it to maintain its properties.

I once tried using it as a cleansing cream and I swear, it worked like magic!! Also, it works good as a massage cream due to it’s absolutely perfect consistency.

All the routine MABH readers might also be aware about the DIY day cream tutorial. For making my own day cream I had used dove silky nourishment body cream along with aloe vera gel, sunscreen and compact powder. I must mention it did complete justice to the recipe. So, it serves well as a multipurpose cream!

It is useful for all skin types. I personally feel this should suit everyone and can be used all throughout the year! it also works well as a day as well as night cream due to the nourishment it provides and very mild smell.

PROS:

  • Affordable
  • Easily available
  • Can be used in summers as well as winters
  • Works well for body and face
  • Can be used as a night cream also due to deep nourishment it gives.
  • Perfect texture and consistency
  • Non greasy
  • Quick absorb
  • Can also be tried as a massage cream
  • Reusable tub

CONS:

  • Big tub is not travel friendly
  • Tub packing also makes the use bit unhygienic so make sure to wash your hands before using it and try not to share this one with somebody else :P

I really don’t have more negatives to offer. I am in love with the product!


Do I Recommend?:

Yes! From oily to normal to sensitive skin everyone should try it once. The price is a little high but it is worth it. You would not be disappointed with this one, I am pretty sure of that :)


Will I Repurchase?:

Oh yes! Without a doubt :) for indefinite periods of time I guess.

Nivea Whitening Cell Repair and UV Protect Body Lotion Review

Hello there!

I had been using Vaseline Healthy White Body Lotion for a long time. Not because I wanted fair skin, I just wanted to get rid of my old tan which was a result of a lot of outdoor activities during school and college days. The Vaseline Healthy White Body Lotion really helped in lightening my skin to some extent. At the same time I used to cover up while going out to avoid further tan.

 Then Nivea launched its Whitening Cell Repair & UV Protect Body Lotion. So I decided to give this one a try as I was bored of continuous usage of the Vaseline Body Lotion. So here is my take on Nivea Whitening Cell Repair & UV Protect Body Lotion.

Price and Quantity: 

Rs. 101 for 75 ml.
Rs. 225 for 250 ml.
Rs. 310 for 400 ml.

 

Shelf Life: 

Best use before 30 months from mfd.

 

Ingredients:

My Take:

The lotion comes in a white coloured curvy bottle having a pump dispenser (only the 400 ml bottle has a pump dispenser, the others have the flip top cap). That was the main reason I bought the bigger bottle. I always prefer the pump dispenser packaging as it is easier to dispense the lotion without tilting the bottle.

The lotion is white in colour having a runny consistency. It spreads easily on the skin and absorbs quickly. It does not leave the skin greasy, but it’s not matte either. It has a fruity fragrance which is way better than that of Vaseline Body Lotion.

If I compare this one with that of Vaseline, the Nivea body lotion works faster in removing tan. My feet were badly tanned and this lotion has almost restored my natural fairness. You can notice the results within three weeks. Impressive! But don’t expect a ‘snow white’ type of skin lightening. I don’t want that anyway! Its only purpose is to get rid of your old tan and restore your natural skin color. And it does what it claims.

The product claims of UVA/UVB filters to protect your skin from UV rays. But it doesn’t mention any SPF. I wish it had sun protection.

I did not try this on my face since it is not mattifying and I prefer to use a separate lotion which controls oil and mattifies my face. My body skin texture is normal, so I can say that this lotion never dried up my skin. Therefore it is suitable for all skin types. I use this lotion every day after bath as it absorbs better on the skin.

PROS:

  • Reduces tan
  • Sweet fragrance
  • Absorbs easily
  • Affordable
  • The pump dispenser makes sure that no product is left in the bottle
  • Great for summer as it does not feel greasy on the skin
  • Easily available

CONS:

  • Contains paraben
  • Bottle is bulky so not ideal while travelling. It would be nice if they came up with smaller bottles having a pump dispenser.

Do I Recommend?:

Yes! I recommend this product for all skin types. Just give it a try and you won’t be disappointed.

 

Would I Repurchase?:

Every time! Till a new one is launched.

Garnier Body Cocoon Intense Moisture Lotion Review

I am back again with my second review but before that I would like to thank you all for the support I received and having me on board. Today I will be reviewing a moisturizing lotion. I wanted to get this done before time runs out for the Chennaiites to enjoy what little of the so-called winter they get.

Garnier Body Cocoon Intense Moisture Lotion Review

I have very dry skin that yearns for pampering even in Chennai’s winter. I have been for sometime on the lookout for a good moisturizer and that is when I came across one by Garnier. Then again I prefer picking up drug store products over high end and check how they fare. In the past I have used Pond’s, Vaseline cocoa, Jergens, Nivea and a couple more of drug store ones.
I wanted to try something new this winter and so picked up this one, Garnier Body Cocoon. Lets see how well it worked or did not work for me.

 

Price & Quantity:

Rs 105 for 125 ml.

 

Key Ingredients:

The key ingredients are nutritive fruit oils from apricots, olives, blackcurrants and avocados. And a whole lot of chemicals and of course the infamous parabens!!!!

 

Usage Directions?:

Use wherever possible but do not apply on face.

 

Shelf Life:

36 months from the date of manufacture.

My Experience:

This lotion is packed in a cute orange coloured bottle with a flip cap. It is a sturdy bottle and hence travel friendly. No mess; no complaints.

Garnier Body Cocoon Intense Moisture Lotion Review

The colour is a nice pearly white.The texture is creamy yet light as the bottle claims.The fragrance too is mild and fruity and sweet and florally. All in one I think but is nice. Not in the least over powering.

Like I mentioned before I have extremely dry skin that screams for attention even in summers leave alone winters, even Chennai’s winters. And I easily get bored using the same product so I wanted to try something new and also easy on the pocket. The routine of moisturisng immediately after my bath has to be tediously followed else my skin stretches and it does neither look pretty nor feel pretty. So this is in my routine right now. I use it just out of the shower all over except face and I must say that I am quite pleased with it.
The texture is creamy as claimed but light and with a little rubbing it seeps into the skin leaving it nice and soft. The moisturizing effect too is quite good I must say. The skin feels nourished and there is a nice glowy look that lingers on for long. It is not greasy too. It is definitely a great buy for bedtime moisturizing routine. The skin does not feel too dry the next day too but you must remember that I have extremely dry skin. It will work really well for normal to dry skin I think. However, I am not sure of the oily skin ladies. Even for people with extremely dry skin like me it might only need a reapplication depending on how harsh the winter is. Overall I like the product but am not over whelmed by it :) I will be checking out for something else next winter. And, I still prefer my Vaseline cocoa glow over this one. At least for the way that smells!! Have any one of you tried that?

  • It is available online on most sites.
  • The packaging and smell is pleasant and travel friendly too.
  • The consistency is creamy but not oily and heavy.
  • A little goes a long way if used immediately after shower.
  • It does nourish dry skin as it claims.
  • The skin feels soft for long.
  • This lotion is not greasy

CONS:

  • The smell does not linger on for long.
  • It needs reapplication for extremely dry skin like me.
  • Parabens!!! (I don’t think I mind though!)

 

Rating: 4/5 (-1 as it is not good enough for extremely dry skinned people).

 

Do I Recommend?:

I would absolutely recommend this to anybody who has dry skin and also normal skin. Those with extremely dry skin too can benefit greatly from it but might need reapplication.

 

Would I Repurchase?:

I am not sure if I’d repurchase it for myself. I like trying new stuff unless it is something that just cannot be replaced. I think that I should be able to find something next year.

Today, I am going to review the Parachute Advanced Soft Touch Body Lotion meant for dry skin. I have already reviewed the summer variant of this lotion and now comes the winter one which specially meant for dry skin. Though I don’t have badly dry skin I have been using this body lotion for more than a month now to combat tad winter dryness on my skin. Let us see how it works.

My Take on Parachute Body Lotion for Dry Skin:

Packaging: This body lotion comes in a light aqua colored and curved plastic container that looks simple, yet attractive. The bottle has a lovely feminine shape which makes it adorable and easy to handle. The dispenser hole is small and dispenses the right amount of lotion without any spillage. This lotion bottle has a sturdy flip type opening cap that makes the usage easier; and the product travel friendly.

Colour, Consistency & Fragrance: Unlike the other ‘dry skin’ body lotions available in the market, this one has a light normal-runny consistency similar to the summer variant of Parachute body lotion. I expected it to a bit thick than the summer variant but the consistency is light and white in color. It has pleasant unexplainable fragrance (A kind of floral) and I loved it. I personally hate the coconut oil smell to core but this one has no trace of it; I guess it has a trace of coconut milk/flower’s smell. So coconut haters don’t hesitate to give a try. The fragrance is mild and wouldn’t upset sensitives noses for sure.

How it works: I loved the summer variant of Parachute advansed body lotion and this one is a new come as winter is in rule at present. I apply this lotion over my body skin twice everyday; once after bathing in the morning and once after my night shower. It gets absorbed into the skin quickly without leaving any greasiness behind. It cures all the dryness instantly and leaves my skin soft and moisturized. The fragrance lingers for few minutes and then disappears.

My sister who used this body lotion found it to be a bit greasy on her skin but I found that it is due to excessive usage. As this lotion is itself so light, you just need a tad to cover large area of your body skin. It spreads easily and smoothly like a liquid, unlike thick body butter like lotions. That’s the trick. If you use very less, your skin will suffer from moisturize loss in next hours; if you apply a lot then it might give you a temporary greasy feel that would gradually disappear in next few minutes. Overall, I find this lotion very suitable for my skin this winter. The summer one failed to keep my skin moisturized for long time in winter but this one helps me maintain my skin soft and moisturized with twice a day application. For the price, I would say that it is a steal unless you don’t mind about the parabens present in it.

PROS:

  • Comes in an affordable price
  • Easily available everywhere in India
  • It has a light consistency and a soothing mild fragrance
  • Moisturizes dry skin instantly and cures all the dryness
  • Leaves no greasiness behind if used the right amount
  • If your skin acts normal-dry in winters, this would be your perfect pick
  • Ah! I forgot the main pro.. What a beautiful curvy packaging it is!
  • The packaging makes the product easy to use and travel friendly
  • Regular use makes skin soft and supple
  • I sometimes also use this as my elbow, foot and hand lotion for temporary relief
  • Gives a nice cooling sensation to the skin soon after application
  • Available in different sizes; the smallest one would compactly sit inside your hand bag

CONS:

  • Contain parabens; if you’re allergic to parabens then this product is a ‘No-No’
  • This will not help your dry skin in freezing North Indian winters
  • Of course not suitable for extra dry skin types; they need a body butter for sure in winters
  • If applied too much; it leaves a greasy film behind in normal skin types which disappears soon

Do I Recommend?

Yes I highly recommend this product to all normal-dry skinned people out there who suffer from winter skin dryness! It is light but does a lot in moisturizing your body skin with its light easy spreadable texture and pleasing fragrance. This product is surely a hit for this cheaper price.

 

Would I Repurchase?

I will! I am not sure about summers because it may be a bit greasy on my skin in summers (When it will be already sweaty and uncomfortable) but I will definitely pick this for next winter. It is cheap, handy and true to its claims for this affordable price.
