L’Oreal Paris Absolute Repair Cellular Shampoo Review

This is my first post on MABH and I am really excited about it. And today I am going to share my experience with my newly brought shampoo L’Oreal shampoo.


Why I brought this? Well, recently I found that due to weather change my hair feels so rough, look so dull and having frizziness so I thought to try out L’Oreal range of shampoo. After reading loads of reviews (Yes I too read reviews before buying any product, I guess this is the great facility when you read blogs) I decided to buy this set of absolute repair shampoo and conditioner. I will review the conditioner back 2 back with Shampoo.

 

Claims:

Price and Quantity:

Rs. 500 for 250 ml

My Take:

The shampoo comes in a plastic yellow bottle with the flip cap opening. The typical shape of L’Oreal container helps you easily recognize the bottle among all. The bottle is not so attractive I agree but what is inside it is important. Let us see about that.

As I told you earlier that I brought the shampoo after reading many reviews on blogs. So I had high expectation from this shampoo. The shampoo is slightly yellowish in color just like the color of the bottle and is very thick.

Due to its thickness you might end up taking out a lot of product which I did for first time. And as you can’t open the bottle cap it’s hard to put back the excess of the product into the bottle again so care should be taken while pouring the shampoo on your palm. I better suggest you to take out a hazelnut amount first followed by more according to the requirements.

The shampoo requires fewer amounts to work up good lather and yes the smell is really nice and mild. It removes all the excessive oil and dirt at one go still for my satisfaction I apply twice. The shampoo works great on my dry hair mostly. After shampooing I can feel that it really works on my dry hair. I agree that this shampoo contain loads of chemicals but I think in this pollution atmosphere our hair need a strong protection which these natural ingredients contained shampoo can’t give your chemically treated or damaged hair.

 

PROS:

  • Love the smell
  • It makes my dull, rough, frizzy hair soft and smooth.
  • Need small amount so it lasts for 4 months approx
  • I admit its pricey but it require so less that it will last really long.

CON:

  • I don’t find any with this shampoo.

 

Rating: 

4.5/5 (I can’t be so biased to give it 5/5 because I will never say that it is a must try shampoo)

 

My Recommendation:

I highly recommend this shampoo  Definitely buy it if you have chemically treated dry or damaged hair but for people whose hair feels great on using natural shampoos should avoid using it as chemicals always tend to make your hair dry and brittle.

Biotique Bio Kelp Fresh Growth Protein Shampoo Review

Biotique is a re owned brand in India producing herbal products ranging from skincare to cosmetics. This brand was quite unknown to me until I bought this shampoo under the peer pressure of a SA at the Spencer’s Mart. I was just browsing through the shampoo range and was determined to try out a new shampoo to get a break from Dove, my regular one.


The SA there insisted I use this shampoo, I tried to avoid but she kept on saying this would be good for hair etc. Well to begin with I have a bit of an oily scalp with healthy hair. My fiancee was impressed easily by her sales techniques and I had to take this shampoo after all.

 


Price:

Rs.159 for 210 ml; Rs.99 for 120 ml

 

My Take on the Product:

Well if you are impressed by their claims I am sorry to disagree with you.

I am blessed with good hair. Hence I have been a person with normal fuss free hair, I never have tangles or dandruff at such, very less hair fall and rough hair is a concept I was unaware of till using this.

Unlike its claim of providing shine it does not fulfill it; it takes away all the natural oils and shine and leaves my hair feeling like hay. I felt like crying after my first use to see the after effects. I generally don’t use conditioner as I hardly felt the need for one but using this shampoo one will definitely need a conditioner.

It has a strong smell like those Clinic Plus Shampoos and looks like a bluish green gel . The packaging is something I have to complain about. Though it’s plastic and easy to carry and store I feel very problematic while using it with wet hands in the shower. The large opening leaves me with no choice but to keep an eye out for product wastage. I have wasted quite a lot due to the packaging.

Coming to the results, I have not seen any growth results till now and actually speaking I hate this shampoo. I don’t like it’s detergent like smell; I hate it how it takes away all moisture from hair leaving it super dry also I hate the packaging.

PROS:

  • Quite affordable with 120 ml at 99INR only
  • Ayurveda recipe
  • No animal testing
  • Dermatologically tested and preservative free
  • Easily available both online and at stores
  • It lathers well despite hard water

CONS:

  • Takes away moisture from hair leaving it feeling like Hay
  • Detergent like strong smell
  • Packaging is quite problematic to use in shower
  • Does not provide any hair growth

(For the Ayurveda recipe, preservative free, natural extracts used and No animal testing)

 

Do I Recommend?:

Nope, I am not going to . But if you have super oily or greasy hair you might get some benefit from it. Otherwise steer clear of this product.

 

Would I Repurchase?:

Nope , Never!!!! I am happy with Tresemme and Dove. I just am trying to avoid wastage and after this one gets over I’ll never go near the shampoo department of Biotique again.

Tresemme Smooth and Shine Shampoo Review

My apologies for bombarding you all with reviews upon reviews. You see, though Lancy was away I was still writing and now I got to get them all out.

This time it is a shampoo that I am reviewing. It is new in the market and also a much hyped one. I am writing about Tresemme shampoo for dry, rough hair. Now this brand is a very popular drugstore brand abroad especially in the United States. I have heard plenty of good things about their heat protectant sprays in particular and shampoos and other hair products in general. So naturally when I saw this one launching in India, I had to have it. The ‘for dry rough hair’ bit got me actually. Let us see how it has fared for me.

Price & Quantity:

Rs 64 for100 ml.

 

Shelf Life: 24 months

 

My Experience:

Packaging: This one is in a black plastic bottle with pink print on it J which makes it look attractive. I do not know how to describe the opening. Do check the picture for that. I personally am not a fan of such an opening. It makes it a little messy with a little shampoo being left which then dries up and gives it a not so pretty look as you can see for yourself from the picture. Travel friendly though.

 

Color, Fragrance & Texture: The colour is white as you can see from the swatch. The fragrance is very shampoo like. I do not find it any different from other shampoos. Nothing to like or dislike about.
The texture too is like any other shampoo! A little too runny???

My Opinion: Last winter as always my hair was wreaking havoc on me. I was so unable to tame it, not that it is any different now but much better though. I was frantically looking up reviews and products for dry and rough hair. I was so surprised to find that Tresemme had launched in India and one that was catering to dry rough hair totally got to me. But then again I did look up for more reviews before purchasing it. As it was a newly launched product, I did not find that many reviews, but, Tresemme being Tresemme I picked it up along with the same conditioner.

The first time usage is always the best time. There is so much of anticipation of how it would fare. I have to admit that I was disappointed by the outcome. First of all, its does not live up to its claim of hair that is smooth and shining. In fact I had to use more product than usual to remove the oil. I leave oil overnight in my hair. All this even while using the conditioner of the same variant. I feel that it made my hair more rough than smooth. I am not a fan this shampoo and it will take a lot of convincing until I pick up anything else from this range in the near future. It made my hair frizzy and unmanageable too. I tried this shampoo with some other conditioners I had with me but that too did not seem to work in my favour :(. My craze for anything ‘foreign brandwala’ has taken a beating which is a bonus but otherwise it is a definite NO-NO from me. Here I would like to mention that I have shoulder length hair step cut. Also water conditions too play a major role in shampoos working or not. So, taking all that into consideration I leave the choice to you.

PROS:

  • Availability.
  • Not pricey.
  • Travel friendly.

CONS:

  • Not sure if it lives up to its claims.
  • Not a happy customer :(

Hello Friends! Today I am going to discuss about my experience with Garnier Fructis Sleek and Shine Fortifying Shampoo with you all. Loving one’s own hair is a girl thing. Every girl lovers her own hair, concentrates more on hair care as much as she does for her skin care. So we could obviously say that ‘HAIR’ means a lot to a girl. Hence ‘HAIR’ has its own aesthetic value. The texture of the hair varies for every individual irrespective of its size and color. Let’s see what are all the things help us for the maintenance of the hair. Shampoo and oil plays a major role in hair care. We must be more cautious while selecting a shampoo for our hair type. We should check its suitability for our hair’s nature and that’s how I selected Garnier Shampoo as it claims to make hair ‘Sleek and Shine’.
This shampoo is especially made for rough, frizzy and difficult to manage type of hair. I have also got the conditioner for free :) along with this shampoo and Let’s see how both they work.

My Experience with the Product

Packaging: The shampoo comes in an attractive parrot green coloured, flat plastic bottle. It has ‘flip and press’  type opening. The conditioner bottle looks alike the shampoo with the same type of dispenser however it is a shorter than the shampoo bottle.

Color, Consistency and Fragrance: The shampoo is white in color and has a sweet and fruity fragrance with runny consistency. I would say the highlight of the product is of course its pleasant fruit fragrance. The conditioner is too white in color and has a mild fruity fragrance (Similar to the shampoo) but with a thick, creamy consistency.

How it works:
After my long travel (3 days trip to a temple) my hair became rough and tangled due to the atmospheric conditions of the place I have visited. So I have applied oil on the hair and left it over night. Next day I have tried Garnier Fructis Sleek and Shine Fortifying Shampoo along with its conditioner. It eventually reduced my tangles and roughness of the hair. The effort of combing after bath is simplified, since the combination of shampoo and conditioner effectively reduces tangles. However some of my  friends said that this shampoo and conditioner caused them hair fall :( but I am not sure about it. If you are a sweet-fragrance lover and have a dry unmanageable hair, this shampoo and conditioner would not disappoint you. Remember, you should use the conditioner along with the shampoo to help your hair turn manageable. For the price, these products are definitely worth a try.

 

Pros:

  • This shampoo + conditioner combo makes my hair manageable upto a good extent
  • Has a fruity smell that lingers on hair for sometime
  • The shampoo lathers well and cleanses out the dirt and oiliness from the scalp.
  • Both the shampoo and conditioner gets rinsed off easily with water.
  • My hair feels soft and shiny after using this combo
  • Comes in a very affordable price (You get the conditioner for free!)
  • Available everywhere
  • The packaging of both the products are good and travel friendly

Cons:

  • Some of my friends told me that this shampoo and conditioner causes hair fall; but it doesn’t for me
  • You may or may not like its fragrance. Some find it to be ‘artificial’.
  • It makes hair manageable up to an extent but not that great or ‘Sleek and Shiny’ as per the claim.
  • Without conditioner, this shampoo doesn’t help with dry hair; but then that’s not an issue for the price.

Makeup and Beauty Home: 3.5/5

Recommendation: Do try this if you have unmanegable dry hair and especially, if you love fruity smells :)

Would I Repurchase?: Yes I may repurchase it if I don’t find a better shampoo which makes my hair manageable.

How to Make Shikakai Hair Wash Powder at Home?

Day before yesterday, we checked about the making of homemade hair wash cream, with a base ‘shikakai powder’. Many of you asked about the shikakai recipe as it is not available ready made in most of your cities. Finally, here comes the shikakai recipe of my mom. She has been using this shikakai hair wash powder for ages to maintain and pamper her hair. I guess you all would have seen my mom’s hair. If not, go to this post. Believe me, she is really 54 and has no gray hairs :) I am the first person to be jealous of her long black hair. We now use a different, improved version of herbal shikakai powder (for hair growth) and lets talk more about that later. Okay, let us move on to the recipe now. All you need are few natural ingredients and some patience.

Things you will need:

  • Shikakai – 1/2 kg
  • Fenugreek – 1/4 kg
  • Greem Gram – 1/4 kg
  • Curry Leaves – 1 bunch
  • Tulsi Leaves – 1 bunch
  • Reetha – 100gm

Ingredient Benefits on Hair

 Shikakai 

  • Contains abundant amounts of Vitamin C and D which are essential for good hair health.
  • Provides enough nourishment to the hair follicles with its micro nutrients.
  • Doesn’t strip of the natural oils from hair.

Fenugreek [Methi]

  • Contains nicotinic acid and proteins to nourish hair roots.
  • Replenishes dry and damaged hair to add the bounce.
  • Replaces the store bought hair conditioners.

Green Gram [Mung Bean]

  • Rich in B vitamins and Proteins. Nourishes damages hair and prevents split ends.
  • Cleanses scalp gently without stripping off excess moisture and promotes hair growth.

  Curry Leaves

There are no such hard steps in the preparation. Just make all the ingredients dry in hot sun for 12 hours. Make it two sunny days and part it to two 6 hours. When the mixture is completely dry and crisp, grind it to fine powder and your shikakai hair wash powder is ready for use. This can be stored in a clean and dry container for 6 months. Regular use gives you a gorgeous healthy hair. One can simply mix this shikakai powder with some curd to make a paste and use it instead of your shampoo or make a homemade hair wash cream recipe for more shinier hair, with this powder as a base.

Optional ingredients such as rose petal powder and hibiscus flower petal powder can be added for a pleasing fragrance and lustrous shiny hair.
