All of you use nail files to shape your nails. Did you know that metal nail files cause more harm than good? So here I am with a review on a product which is not only safe on your nails but also lasts a lifetime.

My Experience:

I’m sure many of you have already hopped on to the glass nail file bandwagon. If not, then what are you waiting for? Do it now! So for those of you who are not sure about this product, let me explain to you briefly about the benefits of using a glass nail file.

First and foremost they are durable. Since they are permanently etched, they will never get worn out. If you take proper care, they will last you for lifetime.

Secondly, glass nail files do not damage your nails. Nail files made of steel are too rough on your nails and will result in cracking or chipping of your nails. Whereas glass nail files are very gentle on your nails and won’t crack or chip your nails.

Thirdly, compared to steel nail files, glass nail files are easier to clean. You all know that emery files cannot be cleaned with water. But glass nail files can be easily cleaned by running them under hot or cold water. You can also sterilize them and the most important fact is that glass nail files are more hygienic than other nail files as glass files are not porous, and they don’t absorb water which creates a breeding ground for bacteria.

By now I guess you all are convinced about this product. So now let me give you my take on this nail file.

Basicare Glass Nail File is packaged in a transparent nail file case. The nail file is white and purple in colour which makes it attractive. I feel the case is not good enough to protect the nail file just in case you drop it or place it under pressure. Glass nail files are fragile and you can’t store them anywhere. You need a special case.

The nail file has polished edges which will not harm your nails. The nail file is ideal for natural as well as acrylic nails. Always file in one direction from the sides of the nail towards the center. The process of filing nails is so much smoother compared to other nail files. You do not get that irritating sound, no rough edges and nails can be filed faster. Just two or three swipes are enough to shape your nails thus saving your time.

Once you are done with the filing process, you will notice a lot of white nail residue on the file. You can easily clean it with running water and soap and it looks as good as new.

Since I am a bit clumsy, while filing my nails I sit on my bed just in case I end up dropping the nail file! The nail file does look tough but I don’t want to take a chance.

  • Gentle on your nails
  • Durable- does not wear out
  • No irritating sounds
  • Nails can be filed faster
  • Cost effective since it will last for long
  • Can be used for filing natural as well as acrylic nails

CONS:

  • Fragile
  • I wish it was packaged in a sturdy case for better storage

A big yes! This product is for all. Once you start using this file you won’t look back at your old ones.

No! Unless I break it accidentally! This one will last a lifetime.

Elle 18 Color Bombs Color Burst Lipstick Spice Ginger Review

Hello lovelies,
For this review I wanted to add some colour and spice unlike my other regular reviews. So, here I am reviewing a lip stick. Yes, I am again having quite some time on my hand and so I am showering reviews here on MABH. Back to the point, today I review a lip stick from Elle 18 color pops in the shade no. 11-Spice Ginger. Hang on all you lippie lovers out there and let’s see how this one fares…

Shade no. 11-Spice Ginger

 

Key Ingredients:

Cocoa butter. That is what the company claims!

 

Shelf Life:

30 months from the date of packaging

My Experience:

Packaging: I am sure all of us here are well acquainted with the chic black plastic tube packaging of Elle 18 lip sticks especially the hot pink lip stick sporting bobbed lady on it. I simply love her :)

Color, Texture and Pigmentation: The colour is very light, almost sheer. It is a nude brownish colour that will suit those with really light skin color and pink lips. It is a 100% daytime color.

The consistency is very soft and more like a lip balm probably because of the white centre. Easily glides onto the lips. It has a very artificial fruity fragrance to it that irritates my throat.

How it works: From the swatch one can see how pretty and sheer the colour is. I feel that no matter how many swipes one does the colour pay off will be the same. It is a perfect daytime wear and maybe for a small evening out with friends. However this colour will not do any justice to those with pigmented lips as is my case. It is a very moisturizing lip stick and will not settle in the lines.

Now it also comes with these shimmers :( I for some reason run away from them. They are a big turn off for me in lip products. Imagine your lips looking like a disco ball!?? The shimmers wont restrict themselves to your lips  but spread far and wide to make its presence felt all over your face. The staying power too is very minimal of about 1 to 2 hours at the maximum and that too without any meals.

So overall this particular shade could be a hit with most ladies but unfortunately not so with me. I cut it up and used it with some other unused lipsticks and made a lip gloss (DIY). BUT, the shimmers destroyed it for me there too :(

 

PROS:

  • Its affordability
  • Its availability
  • Packaging is cute and chic :)
  • Very moisturizing
  • It is a pretty and light colour
  • It is a perfect daytime colour
  • Will suit light skinned ladies
  • Those with light pink colour lips can rock it

CONS:

  • Colour pay off is not very good
  • Does no justice to those with pigmented lips
  • HAS SHIMMERS!!
  • Staying power is very minimum

Do I Recommend?:

Yes I would if you don’t mind the shimmers because it is a pretty colour. Plus it is so affordable and pretty.

 

Would I Repurchase?:  

NOPE. I cannot handle SHIMMERS!!

 

Lakme Enrich Lip Color Strawberry Splash Review, Swatches and FOTD

Hello everyone!

Today I am going to review a red hot lipstick from Lakme. It is Lakme Enrich Lip Colour in the shade Strawberry Splash. My sister gifted me this lipstick long ago but I started using it recently and that’s why I am reviewing it now! :D

Price and Quality:

Rs. 225 for 4.4 gm

 

Availability:

Almost everywhere from local stores to online sites.

My Experience:

Packaging: This product comes in typical Lakme packaging, a maroon plastic case. The name of the shade and number is written on the bottom. The packaging of the product makes it is travel friendly and user friendly but still for some reason I don’t like it.

Color: It’s a beautiful red color with a hint of pink. No matter how fair or dark your complexion is this color is going to look great on you.

Swatch:

Texture: This Lakme lipstick has a creamy texture to the extent that you don’t need to use any lip balm with this lipstick.

Pigmentation: This Lakme Enrich Lipstick in Strawberry Splash shade extremely pigmented. I have some pigmentation around my lips and just one swipe of this lipstick is enough to cover any kind of pigmentation.

Smell: The lipstick t smells strong which is quite irritating for my sensitive nose, but thanks to god that the smell does not last long.

Staying power: As this lipstick is extremely moisturizing, it stays almost 3-4 hours on my lips without any lip primer and after that it fades evenly without leaving any strain or tint. The color get transfer easily and tends to bleed; that’s a big con of this lippy :(

FOTD:

PROS:

  • Beautiful color will look good on every skin tone.
  • Moisturizing.
  • Staying power is pretty decent.
  • Affordable.
  • Easily available.
  • Great pigmentation.

CONS:

  • Tends to bleed, and easily transferable.
  • I don’t like the smell.
  • The staying power could be better.

Homemade Hair Packs to Promote Hair Growth

Every girl likes to have a beautiful and shiny hair. Bouncy and thick hair adds beauty to face.  I know most of us prefer to use natural products to maintain our hair properly. So here are my few hair packs which I had been using for a long time in my hair care routine. These hair masks improve the hair texture and helps with hair growth.

Fenugreek and Lemon Hair Pack

This is a pack which I have been using for a long time. It is super easy to prepare. Just soak some fenugreek seeds in milk or water overnight. At the morning blend it in a mixer with juice of one lemon. You will get a smooth pack. Apply it on your hair and wait for an hour.
I was super impressed just after one use. It made my dry hair smooth and bouncy. Not to forget this wonderful pack reduced my hair fall to a greater extent. Only con in this pack is its removal. It absolutely needs a large amount of time and water. But it is nothing when compared to the bounciness it gives to our hair.

Banana and Honey Hair Pack

I guess all of us would be aware of this pack. It is again super easy to prepare. You don’t need more than 5 minutes to prepare this. All you need is a ripe banana and some honey. Take a ripe banana and mash it along with some honey. Always prefer using organic honey. Apply it to your hair and wash it after one hour with a mild shampoo followed by conditioning. I must tell you, the result was awesome. Yes I have very dry hair and this pack added life to my dull hair. My driest split ends was smooth after rinsing so I dint use conditioner at all.

Henna Hair Pack

Henna is one of the products used for hair care from olden days. Henna not only makes hair strong but also gives a mild brownish tint to our hair. Beauties who loves coloring their hair but still afraid of the damage caused by harmful chemicals can give this a try.
The process is simple. Pluck some fresh henna leaves and leave it to dry under sun for a week. Collect them and grind it to get a powder. Take some amount of this powder, add an egg, lemon juice and apply it to your hair. This will also soften your hair.

Hibiscus Hair Pack

Hibiscus is again well known for its growth properties on hair. Whenever my granny visits my home, she is sure to apply a paste of fresh hibiscus petals on my hair. It is greatly believed to reduce hair fall  and  strengthen hair roots. This is same like henna pack. Dry hibiscus petals ( make sure to use only the dark red one’s) under sun and grind it to a powder form. This when used with amla powder can give double benefits. Mix it with egg and lemon.

Along with the above packs, it is essential to eat healthy food items rich in proteins and drink more water. It can help you in a greater extent.
