I don’t keep changing between a lot of nail polishes. When one is worn, I leave it until it gets badly chipped and looks dirty. This is due to the lack of interest in my short stout nails. No matter how much ever I try, my nails do not look attractive. So, I have lost interest in beautifying my nails.

I only moisturize my hands and nails because of my dry nature. The shape and structure I believe cannot be changed. So, any nail polish or nail polish remover never gets empty for years. I usually end up throwing them away when I feel they are nearing expiry of their life. In spite of this, like every other girl I have a nail polish remover. :)

Basicare Glass Nail File Review

All of you use nail files to shape your nails. Did you know that metal nail files cause more harm than good? So here I am with a review on a product which is not only safe on your nails but also lasts a lifetime.

My Experience:

I’m sure many of you have already hopped on to the glass nail file bandwagon. If not, then what are you waiting for? Do it now! So for those of you who are not sure about this product, let me explain to you briefly about the benefits of using a glass nail file.

First and foremost they are durable. Since they are permanently etched, they will never get worn out. If you take proper care, they will last you for lifetime.

Secondly, glass nail files do not damage your nails. Nail files made of steel are too rough on your nails and will result in cracking or chipping of your nails. Whereas glass nail files are very gentle on your nails and won’t crack or chip your nails.

Thirdly, compared to steel nail files, glass nail files are easier to clean. You all know that emery files cannot be cleaned with water. But glass nail files can be easily cleaned by running them under hot or cold water. You can also sterilize them and the most important fact is that glass nail files are more hygienic than other nail files as glass files are not porous, and they don’t absorb water which creates a breeding ground for bacteria.

By now I guess you all are convinced about this product. So now let me give you my take on this nail file.

Basicare Glass Nail File is packaged in a transparent nail file case. The nail file is white and purple in colour which makes it attractive. I feel the case is not good enough to protect the nail file just in case you drop it or place it under pressure. Glass nail files are fragile and you can’t store them anywhere. You need a special case.

The nail file has polished edges which will not harm your nails. The nail file is ideal for natural as well as acrylic nails. Always file in one direction from the sides of the nail towards the center. The process of filing nails is so much smoother compared to other nail files. You do not get that irritating sound, no rough edges and nails can be filed faster. Just two or three swipes are enough to shape your nails thus saving your time.

Once you are done with the filing process, you will notice a lot of white nail residue on the file. You can easily clean it with running water and soap and it looks as good as new.

Since I am a bit clumsy, while filing my nails I sit on my bed just in case I end up dropping the nail file! The nail file does look tough but I don’t want to take a chance.

  • No irritating sounds
  • Nails can be filed faster
  • Cost effective since it will last for long
  • Can be used for filing natural as well as acrylic nails

CONS:

  • Fragile
  • I wish it was packaged in a sturdy case for better storage

A big yes! This product is for all. Once you start using this file you won’t look back at your old ones.

No! Unless I break it accidentally! This one will last a lifetime.

Hi All!

Of late my nails have been in a really bad state. They are soft, splitting and it was really difficult to grow them. So I decided to get a nail hardener for myself. Let’s see how this nail hardener fared.

My Take:

This nail hardener really prevents nails from breaking, splitting and cracking. As soon as I applied this to my nails, it dried quickly. I also felt my nails were instantly harder. It is best to apply two coats. It can also be used as a base coat. I always use it as a base coat to whatever nail color I’m using. By doing this the nail color does not chip off easily and also made my nail color last longer. I remember once my nail paint was intact for fifteen days without any chipping. Although it did make my nails harder, it failed to prevent my nails from peeling. I was disappointed with this aspect. I can ignore this part as only one nail peels all the time and not all of them.

Packaging: The nail hardener comes in a grey colored bottle which has a silver colored cap. The cap has a brush applicator which  I feel is of good quality. I have no issues with the applicator. It ensures smooth application of the hardener. It’s tightly fixed to the cap so there is no chance of the applicator coming off the cap.

Color & Fragrance: The nail hardener is transparent in color. But I don’t like the grey color of the bottle as it is not attractive at all. Also, the smell of the hardener is way too strong. I just cant bear it. But it goes away soon so I wouldn’t make an issue about it.

PROS:

  • Dries Quickly
  • Hardens soft nails
  • Can be used as a base coat
  • Helps in growing long nails.
  • Easily available on major online shopping sites.

 

CONS:

  • Did not prevent my nails from peeling.
  • The price is a bit on the higher side.

Do I recommend?:

I would recommend this nail hardener for people with soft nails. It’s not a miracle cure of course, but the best by far. This would be ideal for those who find it difficult to grow their nails long.


Would I repurchase?:

I don’t think so as it failed to prevent my nails from peeling!

Nail Strengtheners and Cuticle Creams from your Kitchen

Have you heard about homemade cuticle creams and nail strengtheners? If not, this is the right time to know. Why do we need to buy expensive nail straighteners, cuticle oils etc..? We can make our own at home easily within very few minutes. So, what can act as a good nail strengthener and cuticle oil naturally? I will list you few, you would be surprised.
1. Butter
2. Petroleum Jelly (Eg. Vaseline)
3. Lip Balms
4. Almond and Vitamin E Oils
5. Milk Cream
6. Coconut Oil
Did you notice? All the above listed ingredients are very nourishing ones. When they help nails and provide nourishment, nail breakage will be completely stopped within few days. Breakage is caused due to nail weakness and dryness. To prevent weakness, we should take good nutritious food and avoid much water related works like washing clothes, dishes etc. (Better wear gloves while working with water). To prevent dryness, we can use the above mentioned products without any fear. 
   After every bath and before going to bed every night, apply little petroleum jelly, lip balm or any essential oils on your nails and cuticles. Gently massage with your finger tips for 5 to 10 minutes. Go to sleep, wake up in the morning to see your shiny nails :) It is 100% true that nails which get nourishment never breaks due to dryness. As this is winter, it is very essential to moisture and nourish nails to prevent them from chapping and peeling.
  Massaging nails with milk cream and washing them after 10 minutes also helps in strengthening nails up to an extent. You can also perform a simple, nourishing nail soak at home. Take a small bowl of creamy raw milk. Dip your nails and allow the milk nutrition to work on your nails and cuticles. Wash off with clean water and towel dry. Moisturize your nails with your favorite petroleum jelly or any essential oil. This nail soak can be followed once in a week to prevent your beautiful nails and add extra beauty and strength to them. Keep in mind, healthy nails grows longer and stronger.
  Butter and coconut oil can act as a very good cuticle cream naturally, so use them in your nails without any fear of side effects, because they are all natural. Intake of Biotin and Calcium rich foods also lead to healthy nails and cuticles. My favorite nail moisturizer is Himalaya Lip Balm. I use it every night and this is the first time in my life my nail is stronger and longer than never before :P Try it or any other lip balms to nourish your nails every night and let me know the results..
