MUA Lipstick Shade 13 Review, Swatches and FOTD

Hello everyone!
Today I am going to review one of the affordable red lipsticks from MUA to pair up with light eye makeup. If you are looking out for a hot wearable red lippy with an affordable price tag, then this is for you. You would have checked it in my recent MUA haul. Didn’t you? So come lets get into the review now.

Claims of the Lipstick:

Girls, there is nothing better than lipstick. Apart from maybe lipstick that costs just £1! Ok definitely lipstick that costs just £1. Don’t say we’re not good to you. Our amazing lipsticks come in 16 shades from red to pink and nude and are packed full of pigmentation. With just one swipe you’ll have fantastic colour pay off resulting in gorgeous lips! Why not pick a shade you’ve not tried before and get a new look? It is just £1 after all…did we already mention that?

My Take on MUA Lipstick Shade 13:

The MUA lipstick comes in a sturdy plastic bullet. Though the price is just one euro, the lipstick bullet doesn’t look cheap at all. It has a twist up bottom and overall, the packaging is good, easy to use and travel friendly. Ah I forgot.. There is a mini lipstick pot attached to the bottom of this lipstick. It helps to identify the shade quickly; and once your lipstick get over, you can use this tub – double bonus!

 

 

This particular shade 13 is a hot red shade! It is more on the brighter shade. I can find no shimmers on the lipstick bullet but on swatching, my eyes got those tiny golden shimmers here and there (Though they won’t be visible on your lips at all)

The texture of this lipstick is extremely creamy, smooth and easy to glide on. From a cheaply priced lipstick like this, I really didn’t expect this much creaminess. Actually, it’s a good news for every lipstick lover who cannot spend huge bucks on high end brands. The lipstick is very moisturizing that it didn’t dry out my lips even after 2 hours of application. This is one lipstick that covers pigmented lips in only swipe – the coverage is opaque.

 

The lipstick stays on my lips for 2-3 hours (without taking food or drinks) and then fades leaving a nice red tint. If I forget to exfoliate my lips well before application, this lipstick settles into fine lines and spoils the look. And one more bad thing, it transfers very easily and one splash of water – its all gone! The lipstick is not even water resistant. But overall, for the price of the lipstick, I have nothing to say bad.

 

What I like about this Lipstick?:

  • Hot red shade
  • Smooth, creamy texture
  • Does not dry out my lips
  • Decent packaging
  • Staying power is good without food! :P
  • Leaves behind a beautiful tint
  • Brightens up face instantly
  • Covers pigmented lips in single swipe!
  • Very affordable price!

 

What I don’t like about this lipstick?:

  • Transfers badly
  • Settles into fine lines if lips are not exfoliated properly

Would I Repurchase?:

Well.. May be! I am not so sure. If I finish this bullet, I may get another one. But I am planning to try the other shades from MUA.

Do I Recommend?:

Price-wise and quality wise, these MUA lipsticks are steal! I would highly recommend this lipstick to budget-makeup lovers, and school/college going girls. If you are a lover of hot red shade, then shade.13 is a must.
