I am back with another review. This time I will be reviewing a shower gel from my favourite brand ‘The Body Shop’. It is an olive shower gel, after having a good experience with the olive scrub, I thought of buying the shower gel too. Continue reading to know more.

My Take on The Body Shop Olive Shower Gel:

This is my first shower gel from The body shop. I usually find them a bit expensive, but thought of buying this one by looking at the goodness of olives. :D. The shower gel comes in a clear bottle with a flip top cap. I really like the packaging as you can see the amount of product left.

The gel is of olive green color (as expected :P) and has a nice consistency which is not too thick or runny. It spreads easily on the skin and thus only small quantity is required.

The fragrance is not very strong but mild just like olives. It doesn’t smell all that sweet, but is very refreshing. It’s the perfect smell that wakes you up early in the. But I must stay the staying power for the smell is better than others available in the market, and lasts for 1-2 hours after shower.

Now coming to its cleansing properties, it lathers pretty well and gives a nice squeaky feeling without making you feel slippery. It moisturizes the skin really well; I do not feel the need of using a moisturizer in summer after using this shower gel. So it is perfect for dry skin people too.

I personally love body washes and shower gels. They are easier to use and also hygienic. So, today I will review Palmolive Thermal Spa Skin Renewal (Crushed Coconut and Jojoba Butter Extract) shower gel. I used body washes from this brand when I was kid, and at that time they did not have variants like they have now.

This particular product interested me because of its contents i.e. Coconut and Jojoba Butter. Both of them are great for skin, so I opted for this one. Now, here are the details.

My Take on Palmolive Thermal Spa Skin Renewal Shower Gel:

I bought this last month, when it was quite hot summer. To begin with, Palmolive Thermal SPA Skin Renewal shower gel comes in a nice curvy bottle with a flip top cap.

It smells exactly like coconut but in a better and refreshing way. I don’t like coconut smell but the other fragrances mixed with it make it very soothing and fresh. It would be wrong to call it shower gel as the product is a thick white cream like consistency. It also has tiny dark brown and yellow particles in it.

The bottle was full with the shower gel, no complains about the amount of the product. Now, coming to my experience with it, I used it with and without loofah and both the time I loved it. It lathers pretty well alone, but when using with loofah, I have to take a good quantity of it to lather well. And yes, it does work as scrub when used without loofah. The particles are mild and good for mild scrubbing. It rinses off very easily, does not leave any slippery effect.

The smell does not stay for even average time. But my skin sure stays soft for a long time. My skin does not become dry always but in cooler days, I feel to use body lotion after using it.

Overall, though it contains SLS (almost all the products in market contain SLS). It is a great shower gel for cleansing and scrubbing in this affordable price. Not to forget about the smell which makes it a SPA-like experience.

Lux Magical Spell Fine Fragrance Elixirs Body Wash Review

Hey dolls, I must say, I missed MABH so much. With so much of entrance and preparations I lost myself somewhere in between books. Now I am back with full energy. So here is the review of one of my favorite body wash.

Price and Quantity:

Rs.99 for 240 ml

My Take:

This one is my favorite body wash. Though it is less priced, it does the work perfectly. The packaging of this body wash is curvy which attracts girls :P The shape of the bottle is interesting. The body wash looks purple in color.

This body has an awesome smell of juniper berries and black orchids. I haven’t heard anything about black orchids. The excellent part of it is that the smell  lingers for a long time. It keeps you fresh and refreshing in fact. The consistency is not creamy nor liquid, just perfect.

The body wash cleanses your skin thoroughly without making the skin dry. I don’t feel like applying a body lotion right after shower. Dry skinned girls might feel a bit tight post bathing. It is perfect for both summers and winters. Since it lathers well, a little amount is enough for the whole body. So even the small bottle can last you a long time. Everything at an this price!  What else do you need? Overall a good body wash that cleanses well, doesn’t dry out skin and important of all, the smell lingers for really long time. And yes it is affordable too.

Palmolive Aroma Therapy Absolute Relax Shower Gel Review

Hi Girls!

How are you all doing?? Long, refreshing showers just take away all the stress of our hectic schedules: ) Don’t they? Given that, The product I would be describing today is Palmolive Absolute Relax Shower gel/Body wash that contains Ylang Ylang essential oil, Iris Extract and Lavender. In past, I have tried the variant with Rose Extracts and Orange one. Must mention, I was not happy with the Latter. :( The smell is pretty irritating (bitter)

Rs 125 for 250 m

 

My Take:

This shower gel comes in a see through plastic bottle which lets you see how much of the product is left. Also the beautiful colour of the product is quite appealing. The bottle comes with a flip-top. The cap closes tightly which makes it quite travel friendly. However, it adds some weight to your handbag :( but it is tolerable. The bottle is shaped somewhat like an hour glass to allow a firm grip in shower.

It is very light purple in colour and is of a ideally thick texture. Choice of fragrance varies from person to person. To me,the smell is mild, relaxing and appealing. It shouldn’t be an issue even for people with sensitive noses :)  However, your skin doesn’t retain the smell for much time.

The product lathers well and thoroughly cleanses my skin as good as a soap. It gets washed off completely so full marks in that department. You need to take sufficient amount of gel on your loofah.

PROS:

  • Lathers well
  • Cleanses well and leaves skin squeaky clean :)
  • Gets washed off completely
  • Combats body odour
  • Mild aroma which is relaxing
  • Affordable
  • Lots of variants :) for greedy people like me

Original Source Vanilla and Raspberry Shower Gel Review

Well, some of you may not be aware of the brand ‘Original Source’ – well I don’t blame you; I was unaware of it before last year. But when I ran out of my Palmolive Shower Gel I really wanted to try something new. While on such a new shower gel hunt I heard of this awesome shower gel from a blog and ordered it online. And I am so happy I did. Original Source is a brand manufacturing Vegan skincare products and they sell very less outside UK.


Like most women I love Raspberry as well as Vanilla flavored stuff so when I got this in my hand the first thing I did was to check it’s fragrance. And I was so happy with it. Read on to know how I love it.

Price and Quantity.

I am quite happy with it. The Product retails for Rs 195 for 250 ml.

My Take:

Packaging of this Shower gel is quite unique; the shower gel bottle is made out of recyclable plastic which is sturdy enough for travel. The cap is a square flip top cap which closes properly and the bottle is kept upside down and its unique shape is quite cute. The packaging for me is another reason why I was so eager to try this. It has bold cute fonts used for the front. Even the instructions on the back are quite different from what you see every day.

The product is a pale pinkish in color and comes out smoothly. The consistency is not very runny and it lathers average. So those who love lots of lather will be disappointed with this one. The fragrance for me seems heavenly as if they have really squeezed raspberries and vanilla milk into this yummy bottle.

Well! You must have already guessed I love this Shower Crème. The smell may be too sweet or overwhelming for those with a sensitive nose but I love it. It’s the perfect treat for the body. But the fragrance stays for half an hour max after shower and fades quickly
.

But the shower gel cleans effectively and does not leave residues on the skin. It washes off completely and gives me a fresh and supple skin.

PROS:

  • Cute packaging
  • Affordable pricing
  • Vegan product and recyclable packaging
  • Smells heavenly
  • Cleans effectively
  • Does not leave behind residue over skin and washes off quickly

CONS:

  • Availability
  • Smell does not stay long enough

 

Rating: 4/5 (1 Deducted for availability and very less staying power of fragrance)

 

Do I Recommend?:

If you love Vanilla and Strawberry/Raspberry smells and do not possess a very sensitive nose then give this a try. It’s vegan and will make your shower time more fun.

 

Will I Repurchase?:

Yes, I will. also I have my eyes on the mint and tea tree one as well (I hear it gives a tingling sensation :P)

Freeman 2-in-1 Exfoliating Body Wash Blackberry Review

Hello lovely ladies,

Hope you are all enjoying your summers whichever part of the country you are in. Now there is always that one thing about summers that all of us love and what is that?? Taking endless number of showers (in spite of water shortage??? Hope not!!). I am a hard core shower person in all seasons for all reasons. I especially love the excitement of cold showers!!


And, shower gels just enhance the whole experience for me and take it to another level. So, today it is a shower gel from my cupboard for a review :) I am talking about Freeman 2-in-1 Exfoliating Body Wash in Blackberry. (Blackberries are jamun in Hindi and naval pazham in Tamil and navva pazham in Malayalam.) Now some of us can make our own DIY exfoliating body wash ;) Let me tell you how the ready made one fared for me.

 

Price & Quantity:

Rs. 220 for 150 ml

 

Smell:

It has a very fruity smell which should not be surprising as it contains blackberries. So, the smell is very berry/cherry like J. Nothing too overpowering either but really mild. Should not bother sensitive noses.

 

Key Ingredients:

Blackberry and Vitamin A. And the rest of the unpleasant stuff is in the picture below (SLS/parabens etc.)

 

The product comes with the month and year of expiry unlike number of years which is more convenient to throw out. Mine is to go in February 2014.

My Experience:

Packaging: I love the packaging. It comes in a really bright green coloured sleek and slim plastic bottle. Now, from what I know, all Freeman products have great packaging. The cap is a flip cap. So not messy. The bottle goes upside down like how most conditioner bottles are.

Colour, Consistency & Texture: Now, the key ingredient being blackberries, the colour is a pretty light purple. More lavender than purple I feel. The consistency is typical of any exfoliating wash. It is not runny like a shower gel but is more thick.
The texture too is that of any typical scrub. From the swatch you can see that there are plenty of small granules in it which however are really effective in the exfoliating part. Even those who do not like too many granules in their scrub might not find this to be a problem. The product is however more soapy than a typical scrub as it serves the 2-in-1 purpose of a body wash too.

How it works for me: I have dry skin and I am very careful when buying skin care products. Anything that could be a little drying has to end up in the bin and cannot be put to any other constructive use. So an exfoliating body wash needs more scrutiny than any other body wash. However, this product is a bonus for summers. Summers mean heat and humidity and sweat and grime and pollution and a whole lot of other unpleasantness. That is where this body wash comes in to save the day :). It does an extremely great job of exfoliating and body wash. I initially use only my fingers to get the scrubbing done for the body after which I use a loofah to create a lather to use it as a body wash. One can really get a great exfoliation done with this as the granules are small and effective leaving the skin feeling extremely soft and fresh and not stretchy at all.

It lathers pretty well too and is also easy to wash off leaving behind no residue. You might need a little more of the product than your usual shower gel as it is a little thick in consistency BUT it lives up to all its claims. The granules too are not very large and intimidating. However, the smell does not stay on after the wash but then I am not complaining here.

In all it is a win-win product with me after two duds (read enliven shower gels). But one must keep in mind the water quality as far as body washes and shampoos are concerned.

 

PROS:

  • Serves two purpose of exfoliation and body wash
  • Lives up to its claims
  • Exfoliating granules are small and very effective
  • Mild and pleasant fragrance
  • Leaves skin feeling fresh and rejuvenated and nice and soft and wonderful and supple etc….
  • Lathers decently
  • A decent amount of product
  • Sturdy packaging and hence no mess
  • Travel friendly

CONS:

  • A bit pricey I feel
  • Available only online

 

Rating:

4.5/5 (for price and availability)

 

Do I Recommend?:

Yes, I would especially when one is feeling all sticky and sweaty.

 

Would I Repurchase?:

Not this one but definitely others in this range.
