Being a south Indian, Ayurvedic products have not been unknown to me. I have been accustomed to using exotic herbs and oils from childhood. The role of Ayurveda in beauty has not been known enough in my opinion. One product that deserves a lot of appreciation is Kumkumadi Thailam. This product has been there from a long time but somehow did not get enough of importance that it truly deserves.
However in recent times, certain luxury brands have revived it and popularized it and everyone has been raving about it since then. Today however I am introducing you to a product that is the authentic kumkumadi thailam!
My Views:
This oil is manufactured by the well known Arya Vaidya Sala Pharmacy in Kerala. It is a well known ayurvedic health care centre that specializes in ayurveda as well as traditional treatments and medicines.
Coming to Kumkumadi thailam, this oil is an ayurvedic facial oil. It is well known to improve the skin texture, relieve the skin issues, complexion and also takes care of the scars on the face. Kumkum is essentially saffron and that is the main ingredient in it.
Packaging : The outer packaging is a normal white, pink and purple cover. The brand logo is there on the outer cover. The product inside is quite small glass tube with golden cap and at the bottle it has a roll on top. The product comes out when it is rolled on the skin.
Kumkumadi Thailam has come into my life at the right time as I was looking out for a product that could help me out with my acne scars and blemishes! The product was introduced to me by my mom as she has been using it since a long time. I had heard about the Kamayurveda Kumkumadi thailam but did not use it ever, so I thought this product would be a great product to test out.
To begin with, let me warn you the oil has a strong smell. It smells of some strong herbs. The oil is not of a thick consistency but it is not light weight either. It does show on the skin after application. Therefore you cannot apply it while going out unless you are okay with oily looking skin. Best time to apply this oil is in the night before sleeping. I have an oily skin but it did not break me out in anyway. However my sister has also used it and it did give break outs on her sensitive skin!
So I would not recommend it for girls with sensitive skin or very oily skin. However it can be used as a spot treatment oil on deep scars etc as I have noticed that it treats scars effectively. I had old scars and this oil has effectively treated them to a great extent. As the oil comes in a roll on type tube, it can be used on spots very well. I am very satisfied with the results of kumkumadi thailam personally.
Price : Rs.231 for 5 ml (They sell it for Rs.184 inside Kerala!)

So in conclusion, this kumkumadi tailam is a very good facial oil to treat scars, marks etc on the face. These days when the other brands are revamping these ancient ayurvedic oils, the authentic products does have its charm still in place. So all those who want to try kumkumadi thailam should try out this one, you will surely not be disappointed.

My mom still uses some of the thailam from arya vaidya sala for body pain and it works very well, I knew few of my cousins who love this kumkumadi thailam and was shocked to see that it was priced too high by the high-end luxurious brands in India

although i am quite fascinated to see so many brands with this oil and their reviews but still hesitant to try as i am quite oily and acne prone.
Hi Megha.. You can try this one as it is not expensive..do a patch test on small area on your face first. Wait for a couple of days and then apply it if you do not break out :)
