Little Scenes from My Past Few Weeks

  1. Infusion testing – Momordica tuberosa

The oil has turned into this beautiful color and feels very light on the skin and scalp.
This athalakkai (This is how it is called back in my parents’ native town) blend is doing wonders for my scalp, light, cooling, a definite cure for seb derm. I’m adding florals next, to finish the essence.

Maybe it’ll take three months before I bottle it, the formulator in me will never rush it.

I am thrilled to launch it on lancemade someday.

2. My new bento lunch box

Heavy, beautiful, pink, and perfectly unnecessary.
But I love how food looks in it.
Even ordinary lunches feel like rituals now.

    3. Milo

I broke my no-sugar rule for this.
It’s rare to find Milo in Indian stores. I emptied it before I could think twice.
Some memories are meant to taste exactly like they used to.

      1. Bird’s eye chillies

Tiny, fiery, beautiful to look at in my kitchen.
What should I make with it first?

      1. The sweet potato that sprouted

I didn’t use it in breakfast; it decided to become a plant instead.
Now it’s growing upstairs, rain-fed and unstoppable.

      1. Black mud pot

My sister brought it from a road trip, heavy, raw, matte black.
I’ll season it with rice starch soon. For some reason, I can’t say I love this or my pastel dutch oven more.

      1. Bronze uruli

Brought it out for Lakshmi Pooja and polished it.
Tempted to make coconut-based dishes in it.

      1. Air-fried potatoes

Seasoned with my homemade chicken spice mix, a little spinach on the side.
Almost no oil, perfectly crisp. The kind of snack I love having during the Chennai monsoons.

      1. Custom oval frame for Babble

Made in pure silver (99.9%) from a small local store. The owner was kind enough to have his silversmith craft it for me within a week.

Tommy. Three months without him, and I still think of him every day.
Babble wanted a tiny one to keep in her bag, so I made this for her, a small frame, built from scratch. Inspired from my old Pinterest pins. She loved it. I am so happy!

How are your recent days looking like? If you can relate with any memory of mine which you share, write to me in the comments below. I would love to hear from you.
