TNW Steam Distilled Rose Water Review

Being someone who is hypersensitive to smells (especially strong and artificial) finding the right facial mist has always been a hassle for me. The ones I usually pick at the drugstores are either heavily scented or they do contain alcohol. In other words, they scream ‘how to get nausea in 30 seconds?’

When I got to try this ‘steam distilled’ rose water from The Natural Wash, which claims to be free from preservatives and artificial scent, I was curious to know if I’ve really found a mist that gets on good terms with my skin. It is priced at Rs.450 for 200 ml. Details here.

The product comes in a sturdy, transparent plastic bottle with a spray dispenser. Very convenient. I don’t need to go find the cotton every time. The nozzle sprays just the right amount and there’s no wastage. The product smells just like roses. (The fresh, beautifully colored panneer roses we spot in south Indian weddings.) The scent is mild with no other extra notes.

My skin instantly feels cool (not the menthol-kind of cool) and hydrated after each application. I like it use it on days I almost sun-burn my skin at the terrace, socializing with the birds. The place where I live in (Chennai) gets unbearably hot and humid during the summers. A good facial mist is a must-have in such times!

I also use this rose water spray after waking up in the morning to start the day with a good scent. Though it doesn’t linger for long, hardly five minutes, I like how it feels on my skin. This saves me when my skin is acting cranky and reacts badly to everything I put onto it – even the mildest moisturizers.

This rose water doesn’t sting or hurt my skin – so I’d give it full marks on the aspect of getting compatible with sensitive, not-so thick skin.

It also claims to be a makeup remover and it decently removes light-makeup. I haven’t had any luck with water-proof lip colors though when I tried. Nevertheless, it doesn’t matter to me since I like this product in many other ways.

All my skincare/makeup stuff was packed up and abandoned in my wardrobe upstairs since I use nothing on my skin during this lockdown. However, I made this rose water an exception and brought it down to the living room to use on my face whenever I feel tired or if my skin felt hot or red from standing in the kitchen for so long.

I’ll highly recommend this rose water if you’re into mild, real scents and has sensitive skin!
