Best Conditioner for Dry and Thin Hair – Reader Query

Megha Goyal asks..

I have thin and dry hair. I do overnight hair oiling twice a week and use Sunsilk Straight Shine Shampoo for washing it. I have used Himalaya Protein Conditioner but have seen no effect on my hair.

Please recommend me a good conditioner (not too expensive) for my hair type to give smooth silky hair. :)

Hi Megha,

You have mentioned that you have thin and dry hair. Did you find out the cause? If you are suffering from any kind of nutrition deficiency or thyroid problems, only good conditioners can’t help. Consult with your doctor and ask him whether you can take biotin pills. Taking biotin for hair helps improving hair texture. (It really worked for me!) :)

And coming to the conditioners, I recommend Herbal Essences Hello Hydration Conditioner. I have used it and it works good in adding some shine to the hair. Sunsilk Hair Masks make hair smooth too! However try to avoid silicone-based conditioners. {Read: Silicone for Hair ~ Good or Bad?}

I started using hair conditioners when I was studying in 9th std. I loved them as they made my hair soft and manageable! But only after getting to know that many conditioners contain silicone and other bad chemicals (That coats our hair in order to provide a fake shine but actually does more harm than good in regular ran) I stopped using store bought hair conditioners. I use them rarely now. Currently I am using mustard oil for hair 2 hours before hair wash and a mixture of thick creamy curd and lemon as my conditioner. I sometimes use my homemade egg hair conditioner too! This combo works good! If possible, give a try.

Girls! Do you have any recommendation for Megha? :) If you want to recommend any conditioner for dry hair, kindly share it in the comment section below!

I created the blog in 2011 during my high school days and then went on to regret the domain name. More than writing, I love my kitchen-experiments; currently hoarding cast iron pans.
