MAC Smolder Eye Kohl Review, Swatches and Photos

Oh baby.. You are my dream! You are my nightmare. DREAMS about having you on my eyes. NIGHTMARES about breaking my little piggy bank. I saved all my ice creams, chocolates, samosas, films, books paisa just for you alone. It took many nights to decide about bringing you home or not. Finally I gave you are a warm welcome into my heart and now you are sitting comfortably in my home. That BABY is my favorite MAC Eye Kojl. Since it’s a baby I wanted to give a poetic welcome and my expressions of love too. :) No more poems, lets move on to the review.

Rs.790 for 1.45 gm

 

My Experience:

I have a love-hate  relationship with this product. I love its packaging. Who doesn’t love black? It comes in a standard matte black MAC rectangular box. The pencil is black in color. It is a normal type of pencil that needs to be sharpened. But I think it is quite long when compared to the other pencils. So it can last you for quite a long time.

The texture of this kohl is really smooth and creamy. It glides on eyes like butter, hence no tugging and pulling around eyes. Even though it has a creamy texture it doesn’t break while sharpening. Most importantly, it has that blackest black color that every girl wants.

As it is well pigmented you just need few swipes of this to get a jet black eye. It is not smudge proof actually. If you have watery eyes this is not for you, because it smudges so badly when eyes are rubbed accidentally. But once it settles it stays for a long time. It is not waterproof but water resistant. At the end of the day, it fades but doesn’t give you that raccoon eyes. I wear contact lens and it doesn’t irritate my eyes. Overall, it is not so worth of money but still a decent product.

On My Eyes:

PROS:

  • Nice packaging
  • The texture is smooth and creamy
  • Easy to sharpen, doesn’t break while sharpening
  • Blackest black color makes it stand out
  • Stays for a whole day if eyes are not rubbed or set with a eye shadow
  • Easy to create dramatic smokey eye looks just as the MAC MUA recommends

CONS:

  • As you guess, expensive!!!
  • Not smudge proof hence smudges a lot on watery eye and if rubbed accidentally
  • It is water resistant but not waterproof.

 

Rating: 3.5/5 (for being expensive, non smudge proof and non waterproof)

 

Do I Recommend?:

Yes, if you need a jet black kohl to create smokey looks and if you don’t have watery eyes and hyperactive hands. Not to forget if you don’t mind the heavy price tag.

 

Would I Repurchase?:

No. I cant break my piggy bank again. I think Lakme Eyeconic kajal works better than this.
