Coloressence Mesmerising Lip Color – Lip Magic Review

Posted on January 19, 2013June 6, 2014 by Nice

Hello lovely ladies,

Hope you’re all having a great year so far. I am back with another review, this time a lip stick :), a product that always puts a smile on our faces. I just love lip products. I’m reviewing a lip stick from Coloressence today.

Coloressence Mesmerising Lip Color - Lip Magic Review

This brand is super awesome for being oh-so pocket friendly and also for having an amazing range of colours! The shade I am reviewing today is called M-1 Lip Magic. I like the packaging the most here. However, the name does not describe the colour in any way at all!

It promises to be a good buy for me but, then, is it so? Let us find out now.

Price & Quantity:

Rs. 125 for 4g. But, I got it for 115/- at a local super market.

Key Ingredients:

Almond oil, vitamin E

Shelf Life:

3 years from the date of manufacture.

Shade: M-1 Lip Magic

My Experience:

Packaging: I loved the packaging. It looks really sophisticated to me. Also, the fact that one can see the colour without opening gets a bonus point from me. It has a click lock and that makes it travel friendly too. No mess in the vanity pouch, another bonus point :)

Color & Texture: The bullet is a bright red colour with slight orangish pink undertones to it as shown in the picture below. The consistency is simply awesome. It is really soft and kinda creamy and hence easily glides onto the lips. The smell is very synthetic-like; it doesn’t smell in any way of the ingredients used.

How it works for me: I have dry skin and lips and my upper lip is pigmented. I bought this beauty for its red colour. But, the colour of the bullet and the actual colour it gives to your lips is pretty different. Quite misleading I must say.
One swipe will get you a pretty sheer colour with a slight orange tinge to it. A few more swipes can give you a darker colour but not the red of the bullet. Maybe, that’s why it is called ‘Lip Magic’! And it becomes more pink than red as it begins to wear off. But, there is an orangish colour to it as well! Confusing?? I still love the colour though. I have the swatches on my arm for you. Its staying power is also pretty neat of about 4 hours and it also leaves a slight tinge behind (last swatch on the arm). You will need cleansing wipes to get it off. It does not have any shimmers what-so-ever.

However, pigmented lips will not do much justice to its gorgeous colour as in my case but would look lovely on those with light coloured lips. It will look really pretty on fair skin tones because its neither pink nor in your face kinda red.
But what I like the most about this lip stick is the fact that it is very moisturizing. Even in winters it does not dry your lips and does not settle into the fine lines. It does not need any lip balm. However, using a lip brush would make the application more effective I feel.

But, alas, like all moisturizing lipsticks, the biggest issue with it is this……

It breaks….. mine did with just a few applications :(

PROS:

  • Affordable pricing.
  • Available almost everywhere these days.
  • Moisturising, doesn’t dry out the lips at all.
  • Great colour that is build-able.
  • Staying power is pretty decent.
  • Leaves behind a light stain/colour.
  • The shade can be seen form outside.
  • Packaging is really sturdy and chic.
  • No shimmers.
  • Does not settle into the fine lines.

CONS:

  • Breaks very easily especially in Chennai’s summer. Mine did :( (But then for the price and colour, I don’t mind this. One can use a lip brush or simply be extra careful in storing it in refrigerator.)
  • Will need cleansing wipes to get it off.
  • The colour of bullet and name is a little misleading.

Rating:

3.5/5 (-1 for breaking and -0.5 for misleading colour)

Do I Recommend?:

Yes, I would as it is a very pretty sheer colour for those days when you want to add a little colour to your lips.

Would I Repurchase?:

Not this one but definitely others in this range. They have amazing colours. I am eyeing nude suede reviewed by Arpita HERE

P.S: Scrub your lips everyday before bed with your toothbrush or preferably one with soft bristles. Make sure to be gentle enough. Then apply your favourite lip balm. This would take care of all the chapping and dead cells making it smooth and lip stick friendly for the next day.

So, until next time…. Smile away your worries and Stay beautiful! :)

I’ll suggest shades like Pinken, Hot Pink, Pomegranate Pie from Elle 18. Pristine pink from coloressence. I know Faces(First lady, Pink wine) and Streetwear(Pink pie) also have lovely pinks. Also check Revlon(Pink petite 335) and Nyx round lip stick. Eyetex (615). Colorstreet (130). These are all pretty easy on the pocket. Am yet to have encounters with the MACs and the likes… If you still keen on finding out more pinks, let me know here. Will do a detailed research on them one of these days. :)

Yes, Elle 18 better for the price and texture. These also have great colour selection but some of them can be very drying!!
