Hope you’re doing good! For me, toner is one of the skin care products that really helps my skin stay fresh and pore-free! There are different types/variants of toners available in the market but they contain chemicals. (Few contain even alcohol!) In no way I’m asking you to stop using the store-bought toners but it’s just I’ve found a better alternative that is homemade and chemical free!
Today I’m sharing with you my very favorite lemon toner cube recipe that I use often in my skin care routine! (I hope you liked my DIY carom seeds kajal recipe that I’d shared earlier!) It has a lot of beauty benefits other than just being a toner. Moreover, it is inexpensive and very easy to make.
Do read below for the detailed instructions + my experience with this homemade toner!
Things you will need :
- A glass of water
- A lemon
- Ice cube tray
As I mentioned earlier, this recipe requires a few very ingredients. Take 1 glass of water; you can opt for the distilled water or boiled water too but let the boiled water come down to the room temperature before using it.
Now squeeze half a lemon to the water and mix it with the help of a spoon. After mixing it you could see the water looks cloudy and white due to the lemon juice mixed in it.
Pour the water in the ice cube tray carefully so that you don’t spill the water in a hurry just because I said it’s quick! Pour it till the empty tray is filled with the water. You can store the leftover water in small bowls.
Now keep the tray in the freezer till the water converts into ice cubes!
That’s it. Your toner cubes are ready!
How do I use this toner? : I use this toner sometimes after bath and it works on the open pores and tightens my skin which prevents further skin damage. I also use it before going out in two ways – I apply it before applying my makeup to make it stay for longer and fresh looking because it prevents the oil secretion and sweat due to its tightening and toning effects. I also rub it on my face before applying aloe vera gel, I put a lip balm and I am all ready to go out! (with a smooth skin, without makeup!)
The same way I use it with my BB cream or compact and sometimes, I just apply it without anything else and leave home. Yes, I do this very often! This way it prevents the damage caused by the pollution. I do this at evening time specially when I am not going out for a long time. Kindly do not do this in noon time because you need to avoid sun exposure whenever you use a citrus based product!
I have tried applying it on my face and hands after scrubbing. It did a great job as well; felt quite soothing on the skin! My skin also looked smooth after rubbing it.
How does it help me? : It works really great on the pores as it tightens the skin and makes it healthy and glowing in few seconds. In hot weathers face feels less sticky as it prevents oil secretion to some extent. Sometimes, I use it by wrapping it in a cloth and then I apply it on my face. (The cloth should be smooth and not harsh on your skin) You can also include it while doing facials at home. This relieves your skin so well after a tiring day!
Go ahead and try this toner and share your experience with me! You can also use the other ingredients rather than lemon which you would like to have in your toner. There comes the freedom to make your own beauty recipe!
Very soon, I will be experimenting with the other different ingredients that I like. I am listing out few quick ideas regarding the ingredients for women with different skin types. For dry skin, you can add essential oils and milk. Lemon (as in this recipe!) and cucumber works well for combination skin types. If you’ve an oily skin, try tomatoes and mint leaves! I’ll be back with more DIY tutorials. Stay tuned!
