Nivea Lemon and Olive Lip Balm : Review and Photos

Happy Wednesday!

Today I’ll be reviewing a lip balm from Nivea that has a very refreshing citrus scent! I’ve been using it for the last few weeks after I purchased it online. Do check out my recent skincare haul where I got this!

Price : Rs.159 for 4.8 g

nivea lemon olive lip balm review

My Views:

The lip balm comes in an asparagus green colored tube with a twist up base. Thankfully, the balm doesn’t stick out of the tube and hence, I won’t damage the tip while pressing the cap down. (It happens a lot with my Maybelline lip balms). Though the tube is not something you will find very attractive, it looks neat and it is user friendly. I carry it easily in my sling bag everywhere these days!

It is a green colored lip balm that settles into a transparent semi-glossy finish once applied. There is no green or white tint left behind hence, you can fearlessly layer it for that extra hydration. I am liking the fact that the finish is semi-glossy. It does not accentuate my already big lips making them over-glossy/oily like few other lip balms do. It just provides that faint, simple shine.

I can wear this over my matte lipsticks to avoid the dryness; without making the lips look too glossy or fuller! (You’ll get what I say if you have those big lips!)

The fragrance is a lot citrus-y with a slight hint of floral notes. I don’t smell olives in this however I really liked the scent of this balm as it is mild, natural and yet refreshing that will be loved by almost everyone! If you are not much into sweet fragrances, you are going to love this!

The hydration it provides is decent. It stays for 2-3 hours on me; a little more than regular tinted lip balms but less than the lip butters and other heavy moisturizing lip products! I prefer this lemon olive lip balm for day time usage and opt for butters to moisturize my lips at time! Currently, I am using the Suganda Sweet Orange Lip Balm for the nights! (I got it in the Decemeber month’s My Envy Box). It also smells citrus-y but sweet and more like a mandarin than a lemon! I shall review it soon.

Likes :

  • Hydrate my lips without getting over glossy!
  • Stays for 2-3 hours in winters!
  • Leaves a refreshing citrus-floral scent behind.
  • Not heavy on the lips; no waxy too!
  • Can be used by both men and women!
  • Prevents chapping and dryness on the lips.
  • Last longer as it hardly melts!
  • The tube is of good quality.
  • Does not leave a whitish cast behind!

Dislikes :

  • Does not survive snacks and drinks!
  • I wish it stayed a bit more longer!

Rating : 4.5/5

Overall, I am very impressed with this product from Nivea! It makes a great everyday lip balm for both men and women! You can get this one for everyone in your family. It smells good; it is non tinted and it moisturizes without making your lips glossy! For the price, this is definitely a winner! I am thinking to stock up few more lip balms from this brand now! Any suggestions?

  1. I have never tried a Nivea lip balm. Honestly, it doesn’t need to look pretty.. as long as it works. A pity about the longevity, though. That is quite important. I tend to stick with vaseline or lip balms with a bit of pigment :)

    1. Tinted lips balms are the best when you need to step out! I prefer to use this one only indoors and only during the day. For nights, I need something more hydrating!

Btw, if you are into pigmented ones, do check out the new electro pop range from Maybelline! You will love them!

  2. I love Nivea lip balms!! But i always use the strawberry or cherry one..

On a totally different note, did you get my email Lancy? I haven’t heard back from you, so I was wondering.
