The world famous English dramatist had called women the ‘fair sex’. Since time immemorial women’s beauty came to be associated with fairness and thus it’s no wonder why there’s so much hankering among women about lightening their complexion. In the marriage market too, a fair bride is the first priority and this explains why every woman is so very crazy about looking fair.
This is my first post on MABH and I am very excited to do this. To start with, I am Juthika from Chandigarh. I am a homemaker as well as a proud mother of a college going girl. I love make up and keep experimenting with beauty products along with my daughter, thank god I have a daughter! My Take on Nomarks Anti Marks Fairness Cream:
To start with this review let me tell you guys that I have normal to dry skin with some freckles and slight pigmentation on the extreme sides of my cheek bones. I have been using Nomarks cream for the last two years and keep buying it again and again without fail. It comes in a small plastic tube making it easy to carry as well as take the product out.
The cream is beige in colour with a very creamy consistency which is easy to blend. Trust me its like a thick moisturizer and not like other creams which needs to be rubbed vigorously onto the skin. Once applied it hydrates the skin very effectively and does not leave behind any whitish residue like other creams do. One more good thing about this cream is that it does not make me sweat profusely after using it. And yes how can I forget its divine smell!
Now coming to the claims made by the company, it actually works on the spots. With regular application of this cream my pigmentation got lightened to a large extent and some of my freckles vanished away too but one needs patience as it takes time. I got pigmentation as I never bothered to use sun protection so it was as an external affair. If anyone has pigmentation due to some internal illness then I don’t know how far this product will work. Also I don’t have dark circles so I don’t know if it would be able to remove them.
In all, this cream nourishes my skin, keeping it soft and supple and removes spots gradually. However it does not do anything to stubborn marks which may be a little older than the others. I have been using this as a day and night cream for a long time and will keep doing so as this suits my skin very well.
Why I like this Cream?:
- Extremely hydrating for dry skin.
- Helps to fade freckles, blemishes and pigmentation.
- Easy to carry as it can be slipped into the tiniest of hand bags.
- Easy to blend into the skin
- Quick absorbing
- No whitish cast
- Does not make me sweat profusely unlike other creams
- Packaging is such that there is no wastage of the product
- Suitable for all seasons
- Does not break out the skin
- Heals dry patches on skin
- Its an ayurvedic cream so no side effects
- Easily available
- Fits into the budget of teenagers
- Separate cream available for oily and normal skinned beauties too
- Got a facewash free along with this.
- Good as a daily day and night cream.
Why I don’t like this Cream?:
- No fairness is acquired as claimed by the company
- Extremely dry skinned girls may need reapplication in a few hours
- Smell may bother some of you but I like it
- Wish they had added some SPF to this.
- Does not work on stubborn marks
MABH Rating: 4.5/5
Yes I would definitely recommend this to everyone with dry skin as it improves the texture of skin over time and fits into your budget too. Hope you find my review helpful. Thank you for reading.
Honestly ladies, I have no interest in ‘fairness creams’, especially after what one of them had did to my face. But, since I have received a gift from a loved one, including this cream, and after that person’s special requests to try them on; I had to use a ‘fairness cream’ again. Though, in my heart I was like, ‘Hello old enemy, here we meet again’ but I know what they say, no one must judge so easily.
So, today I am going to review a fairness cream (that you must have already figured!), Avon Care Fairness Cream with Licorice.
New Avon Care Fairness Cream instantly brightens complexion, and helps to reduce yellowish, dullness and uneven skin tone, leaving skin fair and even with a healthy look. Formulated with licorice extracts that helps to inhibit the formation of dark pigments to lighten skin. Gentle to the skin. Suitable for everyday use. Allergy tested(that is all I needed to know!). Dermatologist tested.
Price and Quantity:
Rs. 109 for 50 g.
My Take on Avon Care Fairness Cream:
Avon Care Fairness Cream comes in a cute, small and precise tube packaging. The cream is in baby pink color, quite pretty; and the smell is very much fruity. Some of us might find the smell too strong, but I find it quite nice.
Now about my experience with it, I genuinely loved it! Though the cream is thick, still it does not feel heavy on the skin. Only half a pea size cream is enough for each application. It is easy to blend on the skin and it gives a nice dewy effect after applying; and also no white cast! If you are bothered about the smell, well the good news is, the smell does not linger once I apply it on the skin. It stays for more than 7-8 hours intact, maybe it stays longer.
The best part is it never broke me out; neither gave me skin any irritations or allergies. I have combination sensitive skin with T-zone oily; and this cream suits me perfectly. It does not make my skin oily or greasy, still stays perfectly balanced in moisture.
As I have said earlier, I have (had) a certain feelings of hatred towards ‘fairness cream’; but this product is actually not totally like ‘be fair in ten days’ fairness cream. I think my skin has become a little bit lighter toned than before; now, I don’t know it was a happy coincidence or what! This cream has really broken my conceptions about all ‘fairness creams’; I guess all of them are not that bad! I used this cream two weeks ago, for the first time and it became my CTM moisturizer ever since!
Why I like this Fairness Cream?:
- Does what it claims.
- Cost Effective.
- Smells nice.
- Fairly large amount
- Will go long time.
- Moisturizes skin.
- Stays for long hours.
- Not greasy.
- Does not make my skin oily.
- Gives a nice dewy effect.
Why I don’t like this Fairness Cream?:
- Contains Paraben.
MABH Rating: 5/5. (Seeing the result, I might give my Paraben free movement a rest)
Do I Recommend?:
Yes. It is a very good cream for daily use. Being a girl with allergenic skin, I truly loved it.
Would I Repurchase?:
Hi girls! How are you? I hope all of you are happy, chirpy and beautiful, as ever. I have a confession to make. I always fall of a prey to products that say words like, ”clear complexion”, ”fairness”, ”glowing skin” (Even though most of them never do exactly what they claim!) Given that, there is one more such product I happened to pick up, few months back. It is Revlon touch and glow advanced fairness cream.
Although, the fairness claim as such turned out to be false, as expected. Still, it turned out to be a decent product. I got my second tube free with my mom’s hair color. Yay! Read on to know more about my experience with the product.
(I always try to research a bit about the contents of the product. I might not give you excellent advice but here is a little something I would like to share. One of reasons why honey is good for your face is because it has antioxidants which help to repair skin damage and give your face a lift. Honey also contains potassium that helps in treatment for acne. Dual sunscreen means the product offers protection from UV A as well as UV B and prevents skin darkening.)
Price and Quantity:
Rs. 165 for 50 grams
This fairness cream comes in a soft pink and cream coloured tube. It has a screw cap, which closes tightly. It is light weight and easy to carry around.
The cream is creamy white in color and it has a lotion like consistency. It is not at all runny, not thick either. It spreads well on skin and gets completely absorbed in skin. Please see the picture, that much amount is sufficient for entire face. It has a mild smell which goes off real fast. So, it should not be a problem for irritable noses.
The cream leaves the skin with a matte finish. Thankfully, it does not leave my skin with a chalky layer (like fair and lovely). It feels very light on my skin with no greasy feeling at all. I have not experienced any break outs or allergy with the product. Overall, it is a decent day cream.
Why I like:
- Feels light on skin
- It has sunscreen
- Mild fragrance
- No chalky layer on skin after use, as with Fair and lovely
- Helps in getting rid of daily tan
- No breakouts
- Travel friendly
Why I don’t like?:
- Fake fairness claim, I did not improve my complexion
It turned out to be a very fine day cream for me with moisturisers and sunscreens. I would not say that it helped me improve my complexion but it has protected further tanning for me.
Do I Recommend?:
If you are looking out for all in one product that works as a moisturiser, fairness cream as well as mild sunscreen. Go for it.
Would I Repurchase?:
Yes, most probably. Though, I never stop hunting for better products :D
Today I will be reviewing yet another blemish balm that has hit the Indian markets. i.e Ponds White Beauty All-in-One BB+ Fairness Cream with SPF 30 PA++. I think beauty companies have finally realized the importance of Indian consumers in the beauty sector and are of lately coming up with products that are already a hit in international markets.
Price and Quantity:
Rs. 125/- for 18 gm
The Ponds BB cream has a medium consistency and comes in sleek tube packaging. The tube is of plastic, white in colour white a screw open shiny silver cap.
Blemish balms are a fad these days. It provides for a quick no-nonsense daily/office wear makeup base. Also you can wear it alone with just a kohl and lip gloss to go with it. When Maybelline launched its BB in the market, I somehow could not try it.. lack of enthusiasm. And I realized my loss, when I heard so many rave reviews about it. So when I finally went to buy it, I saw this newcomer in the market and was tempted to buy it.
Ponds BB is just like any other tinted BB with sunscreen SPF 30 PA++ which no other BB has in the market. It provides medium coverage. It does not feel heavy or greasy on the skin. And there is a catch here now. Beauties don’t forget to moisturize before you apply this. Even though, I have combination skin, this felt little dry on it. And also quickly settles in fine lines.
I found that the best way to use it is to rather mix it in Johnson’s baby milk lotion and then apply it on face. You can use your regular moisturizer too. Also blending should be done carefully or else it will leave some whitish cast (maybe because of the SPF factor). But that does not persist for long. Blending should be quick.
Swatch ~ Before and After
It also claims of lightening skin tone on regular usage but I doubt that is possible with the topical use of any cosmetic product at least, so no qualms about it really.
- Provides medium coverage
- Contains SPF 30++
- Quick daily/ office wear makeup base
- Evens skin tone
- Very light and not at all greasy
- Little drying on the skin (suggested to use with moisturizer)
- Settles into fine lines, so blend properly
It is good product for one time try. I cannot compare with other blemish balms in the market as I have not used them. After trying this I will surely try the Maybelline and Garnier BB Cream as they are already a hit in the market. If you have a zeal of trying out new products, you may go ahead with this one. Dry skin beauties may skip this altogether.
Today I am going to review the Olay Natural White All in One Fairness Day Cream. I have previously tried their Natural White Healthy Fairness Day Cream 2 years back but I completely forgot about that product. The only thing I remember is that it did not suit my normal-oily skin type. Still I picked this one for its interesting ‘All in one’ claim. Here’s my complete review on it.
-Lightens overall skin tone by reducing melanin transfer to surface of skin
-Reduces appearance of dark spots
-Increases skin cell renewal to lighten for radiant looking skin
-Provides anti-oxidant protection
-Keeps skin well moisturised.
Price: Rs.99 for 20g
How to Use?:
Use twice a day on cleansed face and neck
This cream comes in a typical Olay sleek plastic tube with a sturdy screw type cap. The tube is compactly placed inside an outer carton. The nozzle dispenses the right amount of cream when squeezed. No wastage; the packaging makes it a mess free, travel friendly product.
The cream is thick in consistency, very smooth in texture and milk-sh peach in color. There’s only a tad amount of peach tint in this cream and it looks almost white. I find the fragrance very present, fresh and mild. It neither smells floral nor smell chemical-like but simply refreshing for the senses.
I bought this product in winter to moisturize my normal-oily skin and it did quite good job. Though my skin type is normal-oily, last winter my skin turned patchy and tight due to excess dryness. I had no product with me to satisfy dry skin needs and hence I picked this one. Though being thick, this cream spreads smoothly over facial skin and gets absorbed within seconds. If you over apply, and if you have dark skin tone like me, then white caste may show up.
The moisturizing power is good. It gives a nice dewy finish to the skin and it is not for you if you are a matte lover. It helped my skin stay smooth and nourished for a long time in winter and it evened out my skin tone with regular usage. However I did not notice any whitening effect at all. It was not my goal though. In case if you are expecting this fairness cream to make you fair, no I am sorry, it wont make you fair.
SPF 24 is enough during winters but I do not suggest applying this cream ‘only’ on summers; you will definitely need a good sun block to protect your skin from harmful sun days as this cream wears off with sweat.
So after a very long time, after winter has gone.. I tried this fairness cream once again recently and Ouch! It made my skin look like an oil well and moreover, it turned my normal-oily skin look dull and dark due to excess oiliness. Even touching up with a compact did not help so I am currently using this on my hands and foot to even out the skin tone (Yes it does, with regular usage) :) If you are looking out for a matte day cream with same instant brightening properties like this one, then try Lakme Perfect Radiance Intense Whitening Day Creme
- Affordable price
- Easily available
- Good packaging
- Spreads and gets absorbed quickly
- Moisturizes skin very well
- Contains SPF 24 which is an added benefit
- Pleasant refreshing fragrance
- Evens out skin tone with regular usage
- No breakouts
- A good product from dry-combination skin types as claimed
- A big NO for oily skinned girls
- Even if you have normal skin, this is going to make your T-zone greasy in a couple of hours
- Leaves white caste if over applied (May be due to the SPF huh?)
- Doesn’t whiten or lighten skin tone
Do I Recommend?:
This is one decent day cream for dry-combination skin types. Its ‘greasy’ factor cannot be taken as a major con for oily skinned people as the company mentioned clearly that it is suitable for combination and dry skin types. I do not recommend it to any oily skinned beauty out there!
Would I Repurchase?:
No actually! I may consider using this in winters. If I still want to use it somehow and finish it off quickly, I wont dare to apply it on my face. I will use this on my feet and arms to even out the skin tone.
