Nalpamaradi Tailam : Review and My Experience

Hi, everyone!

Just like how kumkumadi tailam is famous in the beauty world, yet another oil from Ayurveda is still awaiting the attention it deserves. Here I’m reviewing the nalpamaradi tailam that I use!

For a bit of information, nalpamaradi tailam is nothing but a combination of ‘nalpamaram’– which means four kinds of tea barks in coconut oil with turmeric. It is also known as nalpamaradi kera tailam, nalpamaradi keram as well. These are easily available here in Kerala in every ayurvedic stores. Do check out the nearby ayurvedic stores to know if they have stocks of this tailam.

Price: Rs. 120 for 200 ml

My Experience!

I used the one from the brand Nagarjuna. That bottle was a huge one made of plastic; nothing fancy there. I have ruined the label as well and that’s why I am not including the pictures of that bottle. This is my new bottle. The content of nalpamaradi tailam is an oil in a bright yellow-orangish shade. The smell is a bit overpowering and it might change from brands to brands.

All you have to do is apply it directly onto your skin and leave it for 20-30 minutes and wash it off. It is not easy as it sounds. You can understand how difficult it is to roam with a turmeric mask! Similarly, there is this unending tension of staining the places so the best place to rest with this oil will be in your bathroom itself. I, however, do walk in my home with extra care and attention.

For my face because of the fear of using it on my combination and acne prone skin, I don’t apply it. I tried once and it did give me a pimple or two the next day. (Even kumkumadi tailam does not suit my facial skin, so it depends on). It works wonders for fading the acne spots, blemishes, or any other scars on the body. It can also work for improving the complexion of your skin as well. It can detan your skin to a good extent. If you have a particular blemish or scar on your body which you have always wanted to get rid of, then this should help you. But the ONLY thing is that you have to be consistent with it. There is no way you can go wrong with it other than that. For my face and other body parts, I tried mixing with besan + Water to prevent dripping and staining. So you can try the same trick too.

Rating: 4/5

Final verdict: Highly recommended but make sure you are consistent with the application of this tailam. It will sure keep up to the expectation. This oil is much cheaper compared to the kumkumadi tailam.

    1. Soma, I have no clue about its availability in Kolkata. But you can easily spot them online. I saw the kottakal brand’s oil is available on e-ayur website ( though I have no personal experience buying from them). I hope it helps.

    1. Do try it out, Sangeeta. But make sure you do a patch test if you are planning to use them on your face. I really have a bad experience with the kottakal kumkumadi tailam, it just worsened the whole situation. Use a maximum of around 4-5 drops for your face and neck and wash off in 15-20 mins.

    1. I seriously have no clue about its availability in Bangalore dear. But I believe there are Kottakal Ayurvedic stores in Bangalore. You can sure find it there.
