DIY Cane Sugar Hydrating Body Scrub for Winter : Recipe, Tutorial & How I Said Bye to Flaky Skin

Hello everyone!

In today’s post I shall be sharing my favorite DIY body scrub recipe – especially for this winter season when no one wants that flaky skin to be seen. We always tend to apply moisturizer when we see dry patches on our body and this happens mainly on our elbows and knees. But this won’t help in the long run. Dry skin has to be exfoliated and then moisturized; only then it shall look and feel healthy and nourished. Now let me show you how to achieve the same with this simple homemade scrub!

diy cane sugar body scrub

Ingredients

– Cane sugar (2.5 tbsp) : Yes, you heard me right! We need an exfoliating agent and cane sugar does that job perfectly. I use cane sugar because it is more natural and has not undergone any filtration processes.

– Coconut oil (2 tbsp) : I cannot do without this versatile oil! Moisturization is the key to healthy skin. After all that scrubbing we need some good moisturization. Coconut oil is an excellent moisturizer as it contains Vitamin E!

– Honey (1 tbsp) : Honey is known as liquid gold. It is one best moisturizer that is available naturally. It improves the texture of the skin and also imparts suppleness to the skin.

– Lavender essential oil (3-4 drops) : This is purely optional. People who don’t like the smell of coconut oil can add this. Also lavender oil has properties of restoring the skin complexion; it slows aging and also improves sleep. So I am definitely adding this to get calm and to sleep like a cat!

Let’s begin making!

Making this magic recipe is the simplest thing to do! I use coconut oil as a base of my DIY. I mix lavender oil and honey to the coconut oil because all these are liquid. And then add cane sugar to this mixture to give a final mix. Voila! My very own hydrating scrub is ready!

How do I use it? : I take this scrub and apply it on my arms, legs, knees and elbows and wherever I find dry and patchy skin. I massage it gently for a few minutes and let it sit on my skin for 20 minutes before washing it off. I really end up with smooth and supple skin with no dry, flaky skin at all! You could use this once every fortnight to get better results.

Overall, this quick scrub is very effective not only in hydrating the skin, but also in removing the dead skin cells effectively. I would recommend this to be used in all the seasons. Cane sugar is used in this recipe because the minute particles do great job of exfoliation!
