Have you ever suffered from oily skin, acne or breakouts, clogged pores, dry skin patches or the most dreaded ‘combination skin’? Of course, you have! We all suffer from some sort of skin problem at some point in life. I have combination skin (i.e oily t-zone and area around my nose is acne prone) and it turns this way if a proper skin care regime is not followed!
Today I am reviewing this lotion from Lacto Calamine which is formulated for normal to oily skin types and it claims to control oil. I bought this lotion when I was having serious skin troubles in spite of following a proper skin care routine. I tried many things and when nothing worked, I decided to give it a try as many dermatologists recommend calamine for skin allergies, rashes and burns!
Now I am using it from quite long time (I have finished two bottles of it already). So let’s check out how is my experience with the product!’
The product claims to absorb excess oil, remove dead cells, and unclog pores thus preventing bacterial growth and acne. It also prevents dryness and retains natural moisture of skin.
The packaging is pretty basic i.e a small sturdy white plastic bottle with a cute lavender coloured screw cap. The only problem with this kind of packaging is that product dispensing gets quite difficult and personally I find it less hygienic. It is available in two sizes – 60 ml & 120 ml. I have used both and currently I am using the 60 ml bottle because it’s quite handy and easy to carry around in handbag. This time there is an offer on and I got the Lacto Calamine Sun Shield free with the lotion. Yayy!!
The lotion is peach-ish pink in colour and thick in texture. It has a typical calamine smell which many people might not like. Personally, it doesn’t bother me. Its smell doesn’t stay on after applying it! The lotion is alcohol free, non-greasy and water based; so it works great for oily skin!
Although the consistency of lotion is thick, when you apply it on your skin, it gets absorbed effortlessly. I apply it in the morning and at night after washing my face. It keeps oil at bay for a pretty long time (minimum 5-6 hours) and therefore my face doesn’t look greasy.
It’s a great boon for humid environment when skin throws all kind of tantrums. It hydrates dry patches of the skin as well as does not cause sweating at all. It also maintains the pH of your skin and prevents acne causing bacterial growth. Some people complain that it leaves a white cast on their skin but I faced no such problem. White cast can still be an issue if your skin tone is on the darker/deeper side or if you apply it in too much quantity. I apply it in right quantity (i.e. sparingly) and it does not leave white cast and work wonders for my skin!
Sometimes I use it as a primer as well, it’s a great substitute for my regular makeup primer!
Price : Rs. 99 for 60 ml; Buy : Amazon.in
Rating : 5/5
Overall, I am impressed with the product as it came as a savior for my skin problem, when nothing was working. It hydrates skin without making it greasy and provides a matt finish to it – that means ‘no shiny nose’ Big yayy!!
It also prevents acne and breakouts, so you end up with clear and healthy skin. From the time I first bought it, I haven’t stopped using it. So if you have stubborn and sassy skin like mine, you should definitely give it a try. Very little quantity of it is required for each application, so it is definitely worth the price. Only con I can say about the product is its smell and the white cast. Nevertheless, it is not an issue for me at all.
