Patanjali Body Ubtan Review

Ubtans hold a special position in Indian weddings. Almost all Indian weddings entail an elaborate ceremony of ubtan application followed by singing and dancing as popularised by movies. And most of us would still have fond memories of a wedding being played in our mind right now. Isn’t it?

Coming to movies, do you have any favorite wedding song that compels you to let your hair down and showcase your latkas, jhatkas and thumkas? If yes, let us know through the ‘comments section’. Mine at the moment is ‘Banno tera swagger’ from Tanu weds Manu Returns!

Anyway, now that the topic is ‘ubtans’, So today I am going to review the body ubtan that I bought from a Patanjali store in my neighbourhood.

patanjali body ubtan

My View

The product is packed in an opaque plastic packet. For an ubtan priced at Rs 60, I think it would be too far-fetched to expect a steel/plastic container.

The ubtan is finely powdered and not at all harsh. Hence, is great for scrubbing. The colour is yellow which indicates that it has a rich amount of turmeric (haldi) in it. Do not fret that it will stain your face yellow if you use it. I’ve applied a liberal amount of it on my face a number of times and contrary to most ubtans, it did not stain my face and neck AT ALL!

I used this pack as a part of my weekly homemade spa. Since my skin is dry, I added raw (unboiled) milk.
I applied this body ubtan as a part of my weekly home spa (which is mainly herbal & comprises of DIYs) and waited for 15-20 mins for it to dry slightly so that I can scrub it off hence, rid myself of dead skin cells and contrary to my expectations, this ubtan did not drop from my face or body. Not only did it NOT tingle my skin but also soothed it. I scrubbed my skin 15 minutes after application and left it to dry for the next 15 minutes. I washed off my skin after 30 mins with cold water and without a doubt, my skin felt soft (not velvety smooth though. Come on. That would be exaggeration to say so!).

All the dust and grime that were inherently present in my skin were cleared well. Of course, regular usage will eliminate most of the ills of my skin. In short, this ubtan is nowhere less than those ubtans made by our beloved grannies. So if you are short of time, you can easily substitute this ubtan as your daily face and body wash.

It’s been one month of using this ubtan and I am zeroing in on a day to pay a visit to that Patanjali store to grab more packets of this ubtan. I can FEEL the softness imparted as well as its squeaky clean feel. My hand has achieved a bit of radiance which will hopefully, increase in future with religious application.

Price :  Rs 60 for 100 gm

Rating : 5/5

I don’t expect miraculous results with just one month of using any herbal product. It’s unjustified. These products have to first of all, eliminate/ do away with the damage caused by the chemical-laden products that we subject our skin to on a regular basis and then work on improving our skin. THIS takes time. Anyway, I am satisfied with the product and i’s bound to remain in my shelf for sometime!

  1. Nupur I have used this ubtan and it is seriously too good.I think I can compare it to the Forest Essentials ubtan too and the price tag is so damn affordable.I too love this one and I am seriously hooked to this one.Nicely reviewed.

    1. I haven’t tried the Forest Essentials Narangi and Nehkesar ubtan, Yamini. The price is too high for the quantity. To top it all, I don’t fimd Forest Essentials’ products as easily as most drugstore brands. In case they are both on the same level of effectiveness, I’d rather stick to Patanjali :)
Anyway, thanka for reading. These days, it’s so humid that an ubtan feels much better in cleansing while having a bath. I don’t use soapa often.
