Just Like That Vol.4

My house looks like one big mess right now! I’ve successfully de-cluttered a part of my kitchen! And I’m trying to complete the pending de-cluttering works one by one. Dad’s very upset that we’re throwing things away. (My parents have developed this sentimental attachment to most of the unused, useless things laying around. My bad!) But still.. A bad cluttered house spoils the mood,  and the work productivity, indirectly!

I feel like breathing fresh air after every house-clean up. Do you feel the same way? Do let me know on the comment section below! I’ll do more posts on decluttering. I hope it’d help me maintain a mess-free home!

Today, I’ll be talking about my weight issues and what I’m aiming for in the next few months! If you’re underweight (like me!) I’d love it if we could do a weight gain challenge together.

Over the last few months, I have LOST a lot of weight. Say 15 pounds (or even more!) This takes a toll on my health and HAIR growth! Believe me when I say this; my hair growth is much faster when I’m healthy! (This proves losing weight impacts your hair. More on that later! A separate post is coming up!)

Before a couple of years, I stood at 120 pounds. (Around 54 kg) and this year, I’m close to 100 pounds; may be 99?. My hands feel so thin; the clothes don’t fit me anymore and I feel I don’t look good in any outfit I wear. I cannot figure out the proper reason for my weight loss but I’ve lost my appetite big time ever since I had chickenpox last year (January!) I was about to share my chickenpox journey but then got occupied with things. Hopefully, I shall be able to publish that long post resting in my draft box!

Before chickenpox, I would eat two bowls of cooked rice, 3 fried eggs, some chicken all at one go for my dinner! This used to be my dinner for so many days. Now I doubt if I could manage to eat at least half of the plate. I also do not feel hungry very often; even if I do, I get to snack in unhealthy food because of the limited time I get for cooking. Back then, I was only blogging. I went to bed earlier. Now my bad appetite + sleeplessness has melted down all the weight in my body!

Being a person who has the fastest metabolism (literally!) I know the struggles of gaining weight. I eat like anything for days and I don’t gain a pound. I starve for a day and look pity the next day. So first of all, I’m aiming to increase my appetite before I try to pack on some flesh. There are things that I could do/medicines that I can take to slow down my metabolic rate but I really do NOT want to mess up with that! People tell me all the time how it’s a gift to have a naturally fast metabolism. But all I want to do now is to put on some pounds. My doc has prescribed me a tonic – to improve overall health and appetite. (He is hell sure it’d trigger my hunger and that’s exactly what I want!)

I’ve also been taking B complex capsules (brand – Becosules) regularly these days. It helps me my hair; helps keep my mouth ulcers in control! They’re getting worse by each passing day. And mind you, you hardly get to eat anything when you have nasty mouth ulcers that hurt like anything! I wish I get rid of them soon.

Okay, coming to the tonic (the supplement) I was talking about.. the only downside is that it makes me sleepy! If I take it at night and go to sleep, I sleep for at least 12 hours. And hey, that’s very bad for my work!

On coming weeks, I shall be writing more on my weight gain journey! Do let me know if you want me to do a weight gain challenge on the blog! Would you be willing to participate with me? I’d really like to hear from you on that! Drop your suggestions on the comment section below!

For now, I’m trying to take the tonic (I’ll reveal the name, details etc on my next series) before 7 so that I’d sleep by 8 and wake up earlier the next morning. But.. Will I be able to finish all my tasks before the clock hits 7 PM? Now that’s a question but I still shall try my best!

P.S: Cooking Sambar, veggies, some curries and freezing them would help me a lot! Kitchen-works consume a lot of my time! So I’m trying to work on the ‘freezer cooking’ part. In that case, I’ll just wake up, thaw the curry and make dosa for our breakfast. I can also use the curries for our lunch and dinner! :)

  1. Lancy, I’ve suffered from being underweight all my life. Now thankfully I have managed to reach a normal weight. I’m sure everyone has their techniques and what works and doesn’t work. What really worked for me was exercising – yes, I hit the gym everyday for 2 full years. I’m 5.2 ft (I know short right) and I weighed around 35kgs when I started. With regular exercise and healthy diet rich in proteins I gained weight and in a healthy way. I ate sprouts and dal and nuts everyday. Mix it up, but it steadily works. Exercising also increases your appetite and you slowly start gaining muscle mass. Don’t think about getting beefy, but it isn’t easy for women to get very muscular easy. Hope this gave you some idea.

    1. Whoa 35 kg?! How did you manage gaining weight? I so want to know your workout routine, Sangeeta! Though I won’t be able to go to the gym everyday, I shall see if I can do the exercises at home. From now on, I’m going to include dal to my diet everyday!

And I’m definitely not trying to get beefy. A little more weight is what I long for! :)

  2. I know how tough it is to get to the perfect weight acc. to our height. I have also done so much to loose weight and now finally I have perfect weight.

  3. I was underweight too just a few months back..All of a sudden I gained 7kgs God knows how. Our body is such a complicated machine..I have totally given up on what works and what doesnt..lol ..Thankfully I dont look underweight now :)

  4. Throwing away clutter really gives good feeling even when we clean our wallet or handbags it gives a light and a new like feeling. Hey, even I struggled a lot when I had mouth ulcers and it really annoyed me because,I couldn’t have anything. Mostly, I had cucumber and butter milk to heal it faster and dal rice, it also lessens the heat in the stomach. Drink more water, juices and butter milk apply ghee at night. Avoid spicy, citric or food which causes heat or acidity. Keep yourself hydrated. I can relate to your story of weight gain issue even I find it hard to gain weight but, I can loose it in a jiffy :(. Few says it’s good to have such metabolism but, I always wanted to have atleast healthy weight but, some or the other way I never succeeded :P Hope, to achieve it someday :D. Exercise or some physical thing might help you because, I remember when I used to dance it increased my hunger. You can start with a 15 minutes walk maybe or anything else of your choice and try to eat in between, a heavy breakfast. have something which will actually help you in weight gain not loose it. I said this because, most of us lean people tend to like to eat things which makes us more lean. I like salad a lot and other few things :P trying to improve :D

    1. Hey Ranju,

Thanks for taking your valuable time to comment! :)

I shall definitely keep your suggestions in mind. I’ve already started exercises. Beginning with squats. Not sure if I’m right or wrong. And as you mentioned, I shall give buttermilk a try for my mouth ulcer. I hope it works!

All the best to your weight gain journey too!

  5. You are struggling to gain weight and I’m struggling to loose weight . hahaha :)
Jokes apart, normally after suffering chickenpox people lose weight. Take care of your health.

  6. 1. I’m sharing about it on my next series Dhanalakshmi! :)

You’re running out of things to clean??? My goodness! I’d love to live in such a house. I wish I’d get it to the same situation here.

  7. Lancy, pls Count me in. I am glad that I have a company . I have lost my appetite due to my 3 years of hostel life. Now, I can just live with water and I am sure I will survive. I hardly have any hunger. I am currently having ayurvedic tonics to get back my appetite.

    1. Oops! Hostel life indeed must have killed all your appetite. I’m glad you’re in! Let’s hope for a successful journey.

Which tonics do you take Sana?

  8. Hi Lancy!

I am also underweight and sometimes don’t feel hungry at all too. Recently I have been eating a banana and drinking a glass of milk every night before bed. This has really helped my weight.
