Just Like That – Vol.2

Hello, people! Remember the ‘glimpse into my week’ series that I’d started a few months ago?! I am now renaming it to ‘Just like that!’ after I realized I’m bad at maintaining weekly updates. I’d only shared one volume till date after I started the series last year (on November!) and here comes my second volume today – and from now on, let’s call it just like that, because I’m just like that!!!

Note: I may be doing a post under this category once or even twice a week; or once in every few months. Who knows!? I can’t say. I’d post one whenever I feel like sharing things with you! If you’ve any photos of your food/pets/recent events/or anything else that interests you, you can share them with me at lancy@mabh.in!

Time Management + Cooking!

Nothing feels better than spending time in the kitchen, at least for me! Earlier, I used to stand in the kitchen for hours to bring out that flavor in any recipe, be it a dum biryani or simply a vanilla cake. But now that I’ve started cooking everyday for my family – I’m also learning to cook ‘on time’. It equally is exciting as I’m finding ways to manage my work and food preparation simultaneously! (Time is one important factor, if I should tell you!) Showing you what I made today with piccys!

I woke up late! 12.30 to be precise. (Before I didn’t fall asleep till 4.AM in the morning!) So I had only few minutes left before I could start my work in the afternoon (pack the orders, dispatch and stuff!) Guests were home, too! I HAD to get the lunch prepared. We don’t prefer ordering food from the outside unless it is very unavoidable. That was when I managed to cook these – rice, tomato rasam, potato curry, fried potatoes and egg curry! It was a challenging task of the day! I chopped onions (For the curry) and made tomato puree, required for the Tomato Rasam (Rasam translates to soup! It’s very popular here in my part of the country – south India!) and the curries.

First up, I made a basic curry sauteing onions, tomato puree, some cayenne pepper, black pepper, coriander powder and garam masala! I then quickly divided the curry into two and prepared these two curries for our lunch – one for vegetarians and one more for our guests! (Potatoes and eggs had been cooking separately when I was busy with the curry preparation! I boiled the eggs, sauted the cubed potatoes with spices in sesame oil)

Meanwhile, I cooked white rice and prepared the Tomato Rasam with the left over tomato puree I made for my curries! Believe me, a teaspoon of cumin powder, pepper powder each with salt and some garlic cloves! Plus, a bit of tempered spices.. This makes an amazing ‘instant rasam’ that is full of flavor! And what happened to the remaining shallow fried potatoes after I used good amount of the same in my curry? They were turned into crispy potato fries with a south Indian touch! (Dad loves it!)

So at the end, I managed to cook lunch both for my family members (who are vegetarians) and my guests. A little bit of planning, and a whole lot of your creativity really leads to a messy kitchen.. tasty food and a happy cook! :)

Chewing Wood feels Fantastic!

He loves chewing wood (and anything else that interests him!) when dad’s not home because you know.. he doesn’t want to be that bad guy in front of dad! Nevertheless, he knows who he is! And we know it, too!

He stopped chewing things after I promised to get him a kulfi! The roadside kulfi bell is his most favorite sound in recent days.

So these were the glimpses I wanted to share with you today. Now I’ve more pending tasks to complete and I’m looking forward to work on them! See you soon!

P.S: An exciting news! I’ve been having a talk with our writers lately! They’re going to be back here anytime soon. Do stay tuned for their amazing reviews and DIY posts! Lots of love! ♥

  1. The egg curry left me salivating. It’s my favourite dish and the more I look at it, the more my taste buds go berserk. I don’t know why but I’m getting this feeling that you wanted to tease all your readers by purposely poating such pictures :P
