My Hair Care Diet : January 2016

Hello, people! As per your request, I’m with a new (delicious!) series here where I’ll be sharing the photos of food that I take for my hair growth and maintenance! Though I don’t follow any strict diet routine for my hair, I make sure I include TONS of protein (literally) to help my grow at its best!

I’m not very good at this ‘series’ thing (Remember the Glimpse of my week?!) However this series will help you pick few or more of my recipes – so that they can help your hair journey as well! I may not do this every single month – but I’ll definitely share if I start to include something special to my diet which will improve my hair growth rate.

Sharing below few food clicks! These are what I’m been eating lately for my ‘hair’. If you’re interested in the recipes, do let me know on the comment section. I’ll try to do a video on that!

By the way, is it a good idea to open a food channel? Will someone be really interested to check out my recipes? PLEASE let me know; your answers will help me decide things better!

Roasted Chicken Thighs

I love eating roasted chicken thighs – marinated in yogurt and spices overnight in the freezer; and then fried (very rich in protein) and I’ve been eating this 2-3 times a week! If I’m bored of eating eggs, this goes to my mandatory protein-list for that day. It not only tastes delicious but it is very good for my hair. I don’t deep fry it! Shallow frying with 2-3 teaspoons of oil will makes it golden and crispy.

Ven Pongal

If I’m not going for a NV diet, (My mom often discourages me not to eat meat because 6 out of 7 days in a week is auspicious for her. Sigh!) Then I eat Venpongal/Kaara Pongal which is said to be very protein rich! (My mom said; since it contains moong dal) A dollop a tablespoon full of ghee on top of it makes it taste creamy and heavenly! You can also eat sambar rice/chana rice for your protein needs. I never liked these as a kid but believe me, south Indian good tastes divine if cooked the right way!

Peanut Masala Rice

Here comes one more recipe that I’d added recently to my hair care food list! It tastes so great and it takes only five minutes for me to prepare this rice, provided that I’ve white rice cooked and ready! I’d prepared the powder in bulk. (Roasted peanuts and spices ground together coarsely!) Do let me know if you want me to share the recipe. Again, a good vegetarian alternative for proteins!

Salmon Fish Fry

Fried Salmon/King fish – tastes best when hot! I love eating this very much and this is the ONLY fish I take. I have red snapper at times but very rarely. It contains abundant amount of Omega fatty acids and protein. And if you have it ready in your freezer (marinated) it won’t take more than ten minutes to cook it before you eat it!

In the recent past, I include at least one of these everyday to my diet (If I’m not eating 2 eggs, as I do everyday; sometimes even when I’ve eggs). And the diet helps me a lot in maintaining/growing out my hair! If I skip ‘the protein routine’ for a month and only indulge on carbs, I’ll start noticing the difference in my hair (a bad difference!) so I’m making sure to maintain this diet, for the sake of my hair and my health!

I love variety though so once/if I get bored of eating these same recipes, I’ll be hunting for new recipes! I’ll keep you updated!

Final verdict – Only when you start ‘eating’ for your hair, you’ll realize the actual benefits! Hair oils, masks and expensive treatments do definitely work (They must be natural as well!) but you need to nourish you from within to notice better changes; and this is one thing I’d learned over these years of my hair growth journey!

So do you eat something specially for your hair? If yes, do share the recipe below. Also let me know if you’ve good proteins in your daily diet. FYI, we need 50 grams of protein a day approximately (varies depending on the body weight!)

    1. Yes, soumya! However, if you’ve health issues such as thyroid, your doctor is the best person to ask! You can also surf for natural home treatments online. Eat well. Take proper rest! It should help both your health and your hair! Good luck.

  3. I have never got the chance to taste a pongal dish. I am really looking forward for its recipe. I am already keeping an eye on the protein content of my food for my weight gain mission!
