My Ideas to Overcome the Beauty Blogger’s BLOCK : Beauty Blogging Vol.5

Happy Friday, everyone! Today, I’m sharing my thoughts on the blog ‘posting schedule’ and the demotivated-phase we bloggers (at least most of us!) experience every once in a while. I know I’m very bad at my posting schedule lately. The frequency of the blog posts, if you see has really been irregular and I feel like paying less time to the blog compared to how I used to work on it some 3-4 years ago.

Now – Though I click better photos than before (not that my photography skills have improved; thanks to my new DSLR!), write better content than before, something stops me from maintaining a healthy blogging schedule and I’m disappointed with myself for that! It may be my business, my health issues and all the work but again, blogging is my passion and I do not want to do less justice to it.

I’m now sharing my exact views on how I’m going to take this into my mind and how I’m going to overcome the time-issues and the demotivation problem. If you are a passionate blogger and think we are on the same boat, this post may interest you!

beauty blogger's block

When did it begin for me? : For me, my blogging schedule started collapsing after I got into my business.(product sales, promotion etc) Taking care of the business as a sole proprietor is a challenging task and it made me a lot more of a working-person in these two years whereas I was a full-time blogger before. I did not think in my dreams that I’d be a business person someday, that too before I hit 20 since I always dreamed of studying Fashion Designing once I completed my school studies.

As I grew up, my interests and circumstances changed and today I’m happy with what I do and what I have. But since I get this feel that I’m not doing justice to the blog from when I started the business, I know it is the time to revamp my complete schedule.

Though I’ve NOT fully recovered from the no-interest-to-post-syndrome I still am in love with my blog, the long hair, skin, DIYs and the products.. I’m doing few things to stimulate the ‘blogger’ in me and I hope I’ll be on track from the next month. (September, 2015) Below are what I do to keep myself motivated.

I organized my cosmetics : I tried this one day and it took me 6+ hours to completely check what all I have! It was sad that I had to throw away many unopened, still expired products but the whole organizing thing helped me know what are the products I have and how I’ve not used them or reviewed the used ones here. It’s not that I’m forcing myself to use anything; I only purchased the products to use them but due to my work (and my illness), I could not pay attention to my skin!

After arranging my cosmetics in appropriate boxes/cases, now I’ve started thinking to get back to my skin care routine and experiment with some colors! (makeup!) This is a good sign that I’ll be reviewing MORE products in near future since I’ll actually be using them!  You shall see many DIYS on hair care as well.

I’m clicking photos when I’m bored : This is one thing that will ease your blogging work to extreme levels. You’ll really get motivated to do a post when you have beautiful photos waiting on your lap/PC. Hence I took my DSLR out of the bag and clicked few favorite/lovely looking products when I was having a break from my work. This filled my folder with all good product photos and every time I open the folder I get to think ‘why not to write on that?’

Next, I’m aiming to make it a habit to click EVERY product that I buy/receive from a brand within 24 hours of doing it. I’m yet to take a resolution on the same but soon I’ll. This will keep reminding you how many products you’ve (and like or dislike!) that can be reviewed on the blog for your readers!

I take notes and DRAFT the titles: My favorite and a very useful idea that I started following recently. I seem to forget things easily, especially topic ideas that strike my mind when I do shopping or something else. Hence, I downloaded a notepad app on my phone and made sure each and every one of my ideas are noted down. Then once I come back home, I choose a post title related to the idea, write it on the WordPress draft box and save it! Either I’ve already worked on the post or going to do that in future, it helps me in both ways. If finished, it reminds me to proof read, add images and hit the publish button. If not yet started, it tells me I should try the DIY/product and write about it!

Recently, I made a draft with the title ‘how to make pure coconut oil at home?’ when I was  thinking to give it a try and after continuously seeing it for 4-5 times when I logged in my dashboard, I’d actually TRIED that with few brown coconuts and it was success! You can expect the tutorial to be up here soon. The coconut oil made at home smells absolutely wonderful and you are hearing this from a person who has disliked the smell coconut oil all her life!

I’m just sharing this ‘coconut oil’experience here to let you know important quick notes are for any blogger. If I hadn’t noted it down or drafted it, I would have missed a wonderful post.. and yes, a wonderful recipe! For now, I can be 90% sure that the recipe is going to bring me good number of visitors since it’s a unique, step-by-step tutorial!

So these are the critical ideas I’m following right now! Please wish me good luck to get out of the writer’s blogger’s block! Once I do that, I believe I’ll be able to do more posts on the Beauty Blogging series. Do let me know on the comment section if you want me to share my experience after a month – that is after I get my schedule right (This time I’m pretty much sure I shall achieve). And also please share your own ideas to get out of the blogger’s block. I’d love to hear them from you!

P.S : I remember promising many of you about doing a detailed post on earning money with your beauty blog though Google Adsense. (on my previous volume – how to make money from your beauty blog?) Once things are right with my own schedule, I shall start working on that post. If you’ve any top ideas for this series, please get in touch. Much love!

  3. Hey Lancy
I think the one thing that keeps me going is looking at all the love that previous posts have gotten from my readers. Also I make an actual schedule where I make a list of posts and write a date next to it. This forces me look at that date as a deadline and work on a post. I found this works best for me. Once I start writing, ht words just flow and I can usually get atleast 2- 3 posts typed out. Then I sit and work on picture editing and editing of the post.

Once in a while I do allow laziness to overcome totally and at that I just watch videos and serials. This helps me to just feel refreshed rather than working myself and getting super tired.

    1. Hey Krupa,

Whichever product I have to write a review on, I keep it in front of me like on my bedside table to make sure and remind me to click its pic and write review soon as possible!
