Nivea ‘Oil in Lotion’ Cocoa Nourish Body Lotion for Very Dry Skin : Review and Photos

Hi everyone!

Hope you all are doing well. Today I am going to review a new age body lotion from Nivea – Nivea Oil in Lotion Cocoa Nourish. My skin is on a little bit of drier side. Moreover my job requires me to spend more than 8 hours in AC every day. It’s been a year almost since I joined my office and it is during the past six months when I first started to notice that the centralized AC environment has taken its toll on my skin.

My skin was looking totally lifeless and dull. I desperately started looking for a body moisturizer to rescue me in this situation. And then suddenly I saw that Anushka Sharma ad of this product on TV and the concept of ‘oil in lotion’ really attracted me. Over the years I have used a lot of body oils and lotions on my skin, but the effects were very short-lived. So when I saw this new body lotion from Nivea, I wanted to give it a try, primarily to know what actually is this ‘oil in lotion’ thing and with a hope that it will work for me. So let’s see how this worked for me.

Price: Rs. 330 for 400 ml; Rs. 250 for 250 ml; Rs. 120 for 75 ml

My Views

This is a brand new body lotion from Nivea! Nivea is known for offering top quality and innovative skin care products to its customers. This body lotion, enriched with coconut oil and cocoa butter, claims to provide deep moisturisation and keeps the skin soft and smooth. It also comes with innovative Hydra IQ formula that reactivates skin’s own moisture to provide with a soft, supple skin all day long with just one use.

Talking about the packaging, it comes in a white bottle with a pump style dispenser attached to it. The bottle somehow resembles a bit of milk bottles which we used to get in old days. The pump style dispenser is navy blue in color. But only the 400 ml variant comes in a pump bottle, the smaller ones have flip open cap. I personally prefer pump style dispensers since they ensure that only correct amount of product is coming out, hence less wastage. The packaging is quite simple, but totally leakage proof and fully safe to carry.

The lotion is white in color. The texture is cream like, with a little hint of oiliness. The formula is totally light weight and smooth and feels like a gel-lotion fusion. It smells awesome. The fragrance is of yummy cocoa butter and it stays for quite a long time.

Now coming to the application, the lotion spreads very easily on the skin, thanks to its light yet creamy consistency. It gets absorbed in the skin almost immediately after application. Therefore, the claim to be a fast absorbing formula is absolutely true. Though the lotion has a little oiliness, but post application, the skin doesn’t feel oily or sticky at all. It leaves behind soft, supple and beautifully moisturized skin that you will be tempted to touch again and again. Moreover, it imparts a healthy glow to the skin.

This lotion is enriched with the goodness of coconut oil, cocoa butter and glycerin. Coconut oil does wonders for skin. It is an excellent skin softener that helps to combat with dry skin conditions. Cocoa butter is high in fatty acids that help to moisturize skin deeply. Also the anti oxidants present in cocoa butter help fight off the free radicals that causes skin aging. Glycerin is a wonderful skin moisturizer and it helps to retain the skin water!

I have been using it for more than a couple of months now. A very small amount goes a long way because it spreads very easily on the skin. I have also noticed that regular use of this lotion has enhanced my skin texture. My skin feels soft and plump like never before. One of the best parts of this body lotion is that it does not require re-application. Yes, even my super dry skin remains hydrated and moisturized for the entire day with just one use. I apply it post shower every morning and that’s it. I am good to go for the whole day.

The only negative that I found in this product is that it contains a few chemicals.

Likes:

  • Spillage proof and travel friendly packaging
  • Lives up to its claim to provide 24 hour moisturization with just one use
  • The texture is super soft
  • Does not make skin oily or sticky
  • Makes skin soft, plump and super moisturized
  • A very small amount goes a long way
  • An absolute wonder for dry skin

Dislikes:

  • Contains chemicals

Verdict :

Overall this newly launched body lotion from Nivea is a fabulous product! It has actually worked like a magic on my dry skin especially during the winter. Over the years, I have used many body lotions and body butters, but this is simply the best. Achieving soft and moisturized skin has never been easier. Dry skin people can easily use it throughout the year, but if you have normal to oily skin, then I would suggest you to try it out in winter.

  1. Can you make a separate post (tutorial maybe) about washing your hair with Shikakai? How it looks, how long you hold the powder on head, how you wash oils using powder etc?
