Omved Gotu Kola Gold Leaf Night Cream : Review, Photos and My Experience

In the past, I hardly ever used night creams on my skin. I preferred light serums and moisturizers over night creams as I live in a very humid place. Only recently, after encountering this dry skin issue due to the cold weather, I finally made up my mind to give this Omved night cream a try! I am reviewing it today based on my experience with it.

My Views:

The night cream comes in a sturdy glass tub with a silver colored screw-lid. The product inside is off-white in color and has a butter like consistency. I would call it thick, rich and creamy! There are few minute golden colored flakes floating in the cream. The gold leaves may be? I have no idea what they are but thankfully, the gold flakes dissolve into the cream and gets blended into the skin quickly. There are no shimmery-glittertly finishes left behind as they (the flakes) disappear without a trace! You will need only a bit of the cream for your entire face as it is rich and spreads very smoothly covering all the areas. Unless your have a very dry skin type, a teeny weeny bit is all you need. The fragrance is mild, herbal, a bit nutty and it doesn’t irritate sensitive noses. Soon after application, the fragrance fades away.

I am currently using Faces Hydro Cleanser as my night-time cleanser. Soon after cleansing my face, I put on this night cream on. I take a little bit of the cream, do it on my face (concencrating more on the under eye, around-mouth areas) and massage gently until it gets completely absorbed. The texture, though being on the heavier side doesn’t make the cream hard to blend. It doesn’t settle greasy; the finish is somewhere between semi-matte and dewy. I am not sure! It leaves no oily-shiny film behind however, if used a bit more than required, the cream feels a bit heavy on my skin. On the first week, I used the right amount and it made my skin smooth without turning it oily when I wake up in the morning. On the second week, I used a bit more (due to the change in weather) and woke up with an oily T-zone. Hence, I suggest you to use this creamONLY as per your skin’s need. Use only a bit if you have normal-oily skin with problematic dry areas, a little more for dry skin and a generous amount if your skin is extra-dry.

With continuous usage, it cleared out my skin a little, making it soft and clean. There was this tiny breakout on my chin last week and this cream helped very well in curing it up to 70%. The redness has reduced a lot.

Note : It claims to be a night cream for ‘mature skin’. I noticed it only while writing this review. However, fortunately it did not break out my skin unlike other anti-aging creams do! (Olay, you listening?).

What is Gotu Kola?:

I did a little research on this herb as I am hearing about it for the first time through this product and I wanted to know how it helps our skin! It is always great to know about natural ingredients that you use.

Gotu Kola, also called as Centella asitica is said to be an ayurvedic medicinal herb widely used in China. It seems to posses various heath benefits; it treats – sunstroke, asthma, blood diseases, jaundice etc. Coming to the skin care part, it has amazing natural healing properties. It is used to heal scars, marks, minor burns and even stretch marks. I guess this is the main reason why the ingredient has been added to this product! However, it is too early to notice scar-removal results as I’ve just started using it few weeks ago. If I notice any major-difference on my acne marks, I shall surely update the same here! (Remember I told you how it calmed down my acne? Now I get why!)

Likes:

  • It contains Gotu Kola, a natural skin healing herb!
  • The texture is rich and creamy and hence it moisturizes well.
  • After application, it leaves my skin hydrated and non-greasy.
  • The product smells good; the fragrance isn’t strong.
  • It also makes my skin soft and smooth with regular usage.
  • Skin dryness will be gradually reduced with regular usage!
  • It make a perfect winter night cream with anti-aging properties!
  • The product contains no SLS, paraben or other chemicals
  • A single tub will last for a long time!

Dislikes:

  • The cream may feel a bit heavy on the skin if used more than required.
  • It can make your T-zone oily in summers, unless your skin type is dry.

Overall, the gold leaf night cream is an impressive product from Omved! This is the first product I tried from the brand and I quite love it. I will be sticking to this cream until the cold weather bids goodbye.

This one tub is going to last me for 2-3 months or even more, hence I have no disappointments regarding the price tag. Tub packaging may be a con for some however for the texture, I guess it cannot fit into a tube! Do try it out if you are experience winter dryness and you won’t be disappointed. This could even act as your anti aging cream I suppose!
