Maybelline Baby Lips Electro Pop Lip Balm : Pink Shock, Oh Orange Review, Swatches and Photos

Being an ardent lover of the Baby Lips range from Maybelline, I can say they are super moisturizing and healing! They are an absolute hit among Indian women; I see them everywhere from shopping malls, department stores to even small shops. When they recently launched their new Electro Pop range, I just can’t wait to pick few!

Lately, I’ve also been struggling with my dry lips and that is when these two shades from the new Maybelline Electro Pop Baby Lips range reached my hands. I will be reviewing them today!

Price : 165 INR for 3.5 g

My Views:

The new electro pop lip balms come in an black case with twist up bottom. You can easily identify the shade checking the top and sides of the lip balm which makes it easier when you own more than two from the range. I find the packaging more appealing than the previous Baby Lips’.

The product has a smooth texture and it feels very moisturizing my lips. Surprizingly, the ‘pigmentation’ factor did not affect the moisturizing ability but I am not sure as I am bit skeptical if the previous ones were a tad more hydrating. It has been ages since I used one so it is really hard for me to compare. However, the moisturization it provides is definitely not below average. With its gliding texture and decent pigmentation, it really makes my lip look glossy, shiny and moisturized. These ones are also less-waxy compared to the previous ones. They are light, hydrating and moisturizing. There is no gooey-sticky feel on the lips! If your lips get dry and flaky, scrub them first before putting this balm on.

Coming to the staying power, it is pretty decent too! Without food, it stays for 3-4 hours leaving a nice tint behind. I am really loving the fact that they are light! You get the color as well! With food intake, it fades away evenly without settling into lines or patches. They just leave behind the tint and not the stain.

Oh Orange : I would call it a very mild, wearable orange shade with peach undertones. It looks so natural on my dusky skin however you cannot, unfortunately build the shade more intensely with multiple swipes as it has an average-pigmentation. This shade is definitely not meant for pigmented lips if you are looking for coverage, but for a light coral lip balm, this will be the one! The color hardly show up on your lips; call it very very subtle. Coral-orange beginners will love it for its mildness!

Pink Shock : This is a perfect candy pink for school-college going girls. It looks very mild on your lips with 1-2 swipes and turn out to look like a creamy lipstick if you swipe it multiple times. You cannot get this kind of pigmentation even with the most pigmented shade from their previous range. (Berry Crush?!) One cannot say whether you are wearing a balm or a sheer pink lipstick! I adore this shade totally; it can be used by everyone who loves pink! Thankfully, it is really WELL pigmented compared to Oh Orange. I wish Oh Orange had a similar pigmentation!

Dislikes

  • Oh orange lacks pigmentation!

Overall, I am loving these newly launched lip balms from Maybelline Newyork. These are more smooth, and less-waxy compared to the previous ones. I expected tad more pigmentation for Oh orange however, it also makes a nice light tinted lip balm for daily wear, especially if you are not so much into on-the-lips oranges. I am totally loving Pinky Shock and I’ve been using it a lot these days! I am yet to try the other ones. Hopefully, I will be getting them very soon!
