L’Oreal Paris Color Riche Natural Lipstick : Velvet Rose (378), Silky Toffee (381) Review

Today, I am reviewing two other lipsticks from the L’Oreal Paris intense matte range. Deep Raspberry and Crazy Fuchsia are my favorites from all the 7 matte mania lipsticks I got. The two I review today are MLBB shades for many girls out there.

Price : Rs. 825 for 4. g (each)

My Views:

The lipsticks come in a golden colored bullet that fades and chips off pretty quickly. Though the packaging looks decent and nice for the price, I’ve to store it somewhere very safe to maintain the look of the bullet. Otherwise, it is sturdy and easy to use.

Out of these two, I’d pick Velvet Rose (378). It is a beautiful rose shade with a semi matte finish that settles into MLBB on light-medium skin tones. On me, it looks a bit pale if coated too much so I always use it in light hand. The finish is creamy however it settles almost matte within minutes. It stays for a decent time but not longer as compared to the darker, more pigmented shades from this range. Once it gets settled, the shade doesn’t transfer much. It looks natural on the lips and fades away evenly. I would call this a good shade to try for beginners.

Silky Toffee (381) is a similar shade with same texture, finish etc. but it has no hint of pink or rose on it. It is a brown nude shade for medium skin tones. On lighter skinned girls, it would look soft brown. This shade totally washes me out if I apply it the usual way I apply lipsticks. However, few small dabs settle into close-to-perfect nude finish. I love wearing this shade with heavy eye makeup.

Now the problem with these lipsticks is that they settle into lines and emphasizes dryness if applied without a balm. If your lips are well moisturized and prepared, that wont be a problem but dry lips are not going to love these much. Both the shades are meant to be paired up with bold eye makeup. However, you can wear them for a no-makeup look as well.

Likes:

  • Applies smoothly on the lips.
  • MLBB shades for medium skin tones.
  • Stays for a decent time on the lips.
  • Fades away evenly.
  • Can be paired up with smokey eyes easily.

Dislikes:

  • Settle into lines on non-moisturized lips.
  • Not for very-pigmented lips.
  • The finish could have been better for the price.

Rating: 3.5/5

Conclusion:

I would have liked these shades better if they were a tad pigmented. They wash me out if I layer up more than one coat. I recommend Velvet Rose and Silky Toffee to you if you are into MLBB shades! They make a perfect school/office wear.
