How to Control Hair fall caused due to Rebonding? : Reader Query

Swati Saini’s Query:

Hello Lancy,

First of all, I love reading your blog. All the DIY recipes here are awesome and very practical. Keep it up! I have a queries about my hair. I have fine straight, a bit wavy hair. I got them rebonded 1 year back. And since then hair fall is a routine. I am trying my best to combat it and also grow my hair long so that rebonded hair can be replaced.

I use olive oil, castor oil and coconut oil mixed with few drops of essential oil twice weekly in hot oil massage. Currently I use The Body Shop Rainforest Moisture range for my hair. It is working fine but hair fall is still continuing.

Most of the hair fall occurs during oiling, shampooing and detangling. So could you suggest me some hair detangler or serum/oil which is silicone free. Most of the products have silicone but I am not sure if it is good or not. And also I would love to find out some cheaper alternative, which is also sls and silicone free.

Please reply. Thanks!

hair fall after rebonding - reader query

Solution:

Hi Swati,

I am glad that you love the blog and find the DIY recipes good! Thank you!

Coming to your query, rebonding hair doesn’t cause major hair fall if done properly. Yes, it is true that it damages hair but unless the chemical has affected your scalp/caused an allergic reaction, chances of hair fall are less. Did you get it done by a trusted stylist? Hereafter just make sure they rebond your hair without letting the devoleper and other chemicals touch your scalp. If you are not into rebonding anymore, it is more good because rebonding causes brittle hair and hair breakage in long run.

The mixture of olive, castor and coconut oils is very good for your hair! Keep using it but just make sure you heat them up only in a double boiler and add only PURE essential oils to the mixture. Scented/artificial colored ones may cause an allergy. I’ve read good reviews about The Body Shop’s rainforest range. I myself tried their rainforest coconut oil and it is pretty good! However, I never recommend silicone based hair care products for anyone. Silicone does more bad to your hair in long run though it helps make your hair manageable at first. You can read more about where Mansi explains whether silicone is good or bad for your hair.

If you are planning to grow out your hair longer reducing the hair fall you experience at present, improve your hair routine by oiling twice a week, masking-twice a month and mainly, always maintain your hair and scalp clean! Use a mild herbal shampoo that is free from paraben and silicones. You can check this  SLS & Paraben free shampoo list on MABH. Eat well, include egg whites everyday and sleep for 8 hours at NIGHT! Don’t expose your hair to direct sunlight. Do read my one year hair growth journey where I shared my own hair care tips. I suggest you to try our homemade product for hair growth – MABH fast growth hair oil. (It’s a homemade hair product I make!) You can refer the blogger reviews of the same.

Do follow the routine, diet and make the good lifestyle changes. Your hair fall will reduce gradually and you can grow out thick, long hair naturally! Avoid rebonding as much as possible. All the very best!
