Tan Removal Facial At Home : 4 Easy Steps

This is the time of the year I hate at Kolkata. It rains at times and it is too sunny otherwise. Hectic college schedule is as usual on and it is nearly impossible to come back home dog tired and again go back to some parlor for skin care. But the festive season is just a month away. And if you are not looking pretty during the Pujas (Bengalis and their Durga Puja.. I hope you all know about it) Well, you are not a true Indian!!

This is the time I get this facial done at home, using stuffs I find in kitchen. It helps me to get rid of my tans and also gives bright glow. The fun part is you can do it once a week if you feel like too. I think any lazy bums like me can try this awesome facial regime.

Four Steps:

Cleansing : Well, nothing can beat besan and milk mixture as a cleanser. The lactic acid in milk acts wonderfully on the tanned skin. Mix some besan and milk to make a paste. Use it massage your face in circular motions. If it feels too dry, take a little rose water. Continue this process for five to ten minutes, and then wash off properly and pat dry your face. You will see loads of tan spots reduced and a glow on your face already.

Scrubbing : Well, I use coffee, sugar and lime juice mixture and it is the best scrubber I have seen till date. People often use it for body. But I prefer it on face for the fine aroma and gentle feelings. Add two tea spoons of coffee and a table spoon sugar. Squeeze some lime juice to the moisture. Do not mix water in it. Now take it in small amounts and scrub your face. Specially concentrate on the T-zone and the forehead as they are the worst victims of sun burns and pollutions. This will also help to remove the white heads and black heads. Wash off with water.

Massaging : The best massaging cream I have discovered till date is the fresh aloe gel. If you have an aloe plant in your house, you are really lucky. Take the gel from the leave-core. Fresh aloe leaves are also sold in markets. If you cannot avail either, any Aloe Vera gel creams of good companies can work. You can add a little amount of tea leaf to it as they have amazing tan removing properties. Massage gently all over until the cream is totally absorbed. You can wipe off the face to take rid of the tea leaves. Tea liquor can be used as a toner after this (in case you are not using the leaves with the cream.)

Face Pack : This is the part I love the most. So much variability is available. From Musurdal-saffron mix to Besan-haldi mix, you can use any. I love using fruit packs. My favorite on is mango-grape puree pack. But generally I use a cucumber paste as the pack. Any other fruits will work well too. Smash the fruits of your choice and apply them on your face (avoid too much juicy fruits like watermelon as it is pretty unmanageable). Keep it on for fifteen minutes and wash it off. And that is it. You are ready to glow and go.

Things to keep in mind:
  • Give enough time to each step. Do not rush, as it will not be effective.
  • Facial does not mean you have to take care of your face only. Do take care of your ears and necks. Otherwise you will end up looking like a zebra, tanned neck and glowing face.
  • Collect everything before you start. Bring towels, bowls of waters, all the ingredients. Then find a comfortable place to sit, in front a mirror and start.

PROS:

  • You do not need to go anywhere (except the kitchen or garden maybe).
  • There is no chance of rashes or allergies.
  • Everything is fresh and great.
  • You can do it whenever you wish according to your convenience. (I did it once at around 3 am at night, because I was awake and had nothing else to do).

CONS:

  • The process may be a bit messy.
  • You cannot relax while doing this facial (well, I am lucky to have a super mom, who is my home-beautician and does my facials).
