Hello everyone! :)
Weddings are a onetime affair and every girl want’s to doll up like a princess on her wedding day. It is quite obvious that you need to be a bit more dolled up than usual. Using good makeup will result in a natural looking face which you will like to keep seeing in your wedding albums for years to come. As the majority of Indian weddings are a nighttime event it is inevitable to avoid Flash photography.
And here is when the main problem starts, the horrible white ghost faces due to the heavy SPF contents of makeup (foundation) and lighter shade foundation create pale looking faces. There are so many ways to go wrong on the D Day, but we have some easy to follow tips to keep you from repeating the most common mistakes brides make.
Best Bridal Makeup Tips:
1. Hydrate Your Skin
We all know how nervous brides are about their special day and usually the days going up to the special day is the toughest. But your tough schedule should not reflect on your skin. Keep yourself hydrated. Drink lots of water and a healthy diet prior to the wedding. Reducing intake of junk foods, fried items, and excessive caffeine. Whenever you feel your skin is lacking moisture apply a hydrating cream to keep skin feeling soft and glowing.
2. Prepare Beforehand
Most of you would be brides have decided to book a makeup artist to do your makeup on the D Day and its very natural to do so. Depending on trained hands does minimize your problems and stress but do take note that you should check with your MUA beforehand. Most MUA’s offer demo or trial makeup (chargeable) to help brides choose the looks they wish to recreate. Having a fair idea of how you are going to look on the D day is far better than going in for your bridal makeup with no clue at all.
3.Wear foundation and Powder Wisely
Foundations and loose powders remain the main points where most brides and MUA’s fail. Skin tones, especially Indian skin tones are quite diverse and it is impossible to match each person to their perfect shade in a brand. While most MUA’s carry a good range of shades with them; it’s wise to keep your own foundation handy. Its a must to choose the right foundation for your skin type.

Ask the Representative at your favorite brand to match you up to the right shades. Try it in different lights and with flash to decide if it is best. Also choose the face powder or loose powder matching it with your skin tone. Sometime there is a distinct difference between one’s face and neck and this should be avoided. If necessary choose two separate shades for the face and neck. Choose a foundation without SPF for a night wedding; if you are getting married in the morning and there’s no flash photography use one with SPF.

4. Don’t Go all Glittery
Glitters are fine if kept in check but over use of glittery eye shadows, lipstick, blush is not at all good. Why on earth would the bride want to look like a disco ball on her wedding??? Use glitter wisely and restrict your MUA on using glitter; ask her to use pearl or satin finish products.
5. Don’t Match all Elements
Yes, we all know that in your childhood it was quite fun matching everything to your dress- but on your wedding day you want to look perfect. Don’t match you lips, eye shadow, jewelry, blush with your outfit. While red remains the color most people chose for their weddings it is quite natural to go for deep red or bright red lips. [Read: How to Wear Red Lipsticks?] Red lips are a statement for brides. There are some simple makeup tricks. You either highlight your eyes or keep the lips and the other aspects quite muted or vice versa. The lips, the eyes and the cheek should not be highlighted at once. If you want bold eyes go for a rather soft lips; if you want bold lips go for a subtle eye makeup.
6. Use Waterproof Makeup
If you are getting married Indian style there will inevitably be a lot of instances to shed a few tears. That’s why, we suggest you to use some waterproof mascara, liner and pencils. You don’t want some tears to ruin the whole face makeup. Also use some falsies for added intensity.
Applying layers of makeup is good only if they don’t look cakey. Use a primer before applying makeup and then apply foundation. Using cream blush under powder blush also helps to keep the blush looking more dewy and natural and also increases its staying power. Using a loose powder to finish help to seal all layers of makeup. An eye primer helps to keep eye makeup in place until you remove it. Using a lip liner beneath the lipstick helps seal it better and help lipstick from feathering. Keep these small aspects in mind so that you spend more time enjoying that touching up your makeup.
Last but not the least.. :)
