Always pick one that comes with at least SPF 30 and has zinc oxide as one of its ingredients. That will give you maximum protection against UV radiation. Using sunglasses, umbrellas or big hats could also be useful. These days you also get special kind of UV Shirts that can save your skin from sun damage and sun triggered skin darkening.
2. No Perfumed Cosmetics
Try not to use perfumed cosmetic products on your skin. That is another trigger for skin darkening.
3. Glutathione Lightening Soap
Switch to a glutathione bathing bar which you get to buy at many beauty stores these days. The special enzyme in the bar is known for its skin whitening action.
4. Azelaic Acid Talc
You can opt for talcum powders, creams containing azelaic acid. These products will help to control the problem of skin darkening.
5. Berry Treatment
Apply the pulp of bearberries, mulberries or strawberries on your skin. The compounds, acids and enzymes in these berries can lower the rate of melanin production and control hyper pigmentation or skin darkening.
6. Whitening Milk Bath
Taking a milk bath once in a week can help too. Milk has natural lactic acid which can whiten your dark skin naturally making it exceptionally smooth and soft as well.
7. Aloe Vera
Wash your face with a mild cleanser and cool water thrice daily, gently massage while washing, and post cleansing you can apply an Aloe Vera based cream or gel. That too inhibits the excessive production of the melanin pigment
