Top 4 ‘No Makeup’ Makeup Ways to Enhance Your Eyes

by Adi

Hi everyone :)
I’m sure many of you all (including me!) are either in school or college or working in environments where the culture of applying makeup everyday still hasn’t picked up. Put on even coloured eyeliner and sometimes you come across as ‘made up’ or fake. Lipstick, eye shadow and blush don’t even feature!

Personally, I’m always on the lookout for makeup techniques that I can use to enhance my features without looking like I’ve done anything at all. The no makeup look! Even if you are not in school or college, these tips can be helpful if you just want an effortless and natural look. So here are some ways in which you can highlight your eyes without drawing too much attention to the ‘makeup’!

Tip 1: Apply a flesh toned eyeliner on your waterline:

It’s a known fact that kajal on the waterline makes your eyes look smaller. I don’t really care about this because I love my kajal and I think a bit of kohl takes you from ‘okay’ to ‘wow’ immediately. But if you want the doe-eyed look and want to open your eyes a bit, you should use a nude eye pencil on your eyes because this will make your eyes look bigger. If not flesh-toned, you could use even a light brown pencil which would not close up your eyes as much as black kohl and yet will provide some definition.

Tip 2: Tightline your eyes:

So the first tip essentially was – no kajal. Suppose you don’t have a flesh toned liner. You can make your eyes really pop by tight-lining your upper eyelid. Tightlining means that you apply kajal to your ‘upper waterline’. This makes your eyelashes look denser and also defines your eyes. And yet, there’s no visible liner!

Tip 3: Use an eyelash curler:

Makeup experts suggest that to make your eyes look bigger, you should apply tons of mascara to your top lashes. In other words, if your top lashes are prominent, your eyes automatically open up. If you want to skip the mascara (which is probably why you’re reading this!), you should just give your eyelashes a good curl. Most cosmetic brands manufacture eyelash curlers . If you don’t want to spend a ton of money on those, you don’t have to! I picked up mine from Health n’ Glow (or New U, I can’t remember!) for just 150 bucks. It probably doesn’t work as well as the high end ones (I haven’t tried any other curler) but it does the job. It’s amazing how much difference just curling your lashes makes!! If you want to go a step further, you can apply clear mascara too :)

Tip 4: White eye shadow/highlighter on the inner corners:

You can apply a bit of white eye shadow or highlighter to the inner corners of your eyes around the tear ducts. This also enhances your eyes. 90% of the time, eye makeup is incomplete without that dab of white on the inner corners to open up the eyes. Go easy on the white if you don’t want it to be too obvious. Even a little bit goes a long way! :)

There are so many tips, including these, that are age-old ways to make your eyes look bigger and more beautiful. I wanted to write these four together at one place because a lot of girls still aren’t familiar with them. I’m 21 and till last year, I had absolutely NO idea about tightlining, flesh-toned eyeliners or eyelash curlers! So I hope these tips helped you :)

So how do you enhance your eye look without makeup?

  1. tight lining with black is a prob adi,…..i use lakme eye conic kajal and it immediately shows on my lower lash line…..using nude is the best way..and you can draw thinnest line on the upper lashes close to water line to make it look bigger. also a dark brown pencil can be used to tight line instead of absolute black..right:)

    1. You’re right Dharu, I use eyeconic too and it transfers to my waterline immediately too. I think using a kohl that sets faster is a better option for tightlining :) I’ve seen tons of videos where girls use black gel liner. Whenever I tightline I use black because it gives the best definition but yes if you want a neater finish, brown or nude may work better :D

    2. i tried it with elle 18 liquid liner itself…..it came out amazing…since elle 18 one dries pretty fast..just have to be careful about not blinking immediately…..no irritation nothing…the result was fantastic:) will try to post it if possible…:)
