MUA Lipstick Shade 16 Nectar : Review, Swatches and FOTD

Hello everyone!

Previously I reviewed the MUA Lipstick in 13 which is a hot red shade. Today, the review is about MUA Lipstick in shade 16 which has a name luckily, called ‘nectar’. I am expecting MUA to name all their shades; the plain numbers are pretty boring. Aren’t they? Fine let’s move on to the review now.

Price and Quantity:

£1 for 3.8 g (Around 78 INR)

My Take:

This one pound lipstick comes in a neat plastic bullet which is black in color. There’s a mini pot attached to its bottom to identify the shade easily and what’s more.. The pot contains tiny amount of the same lipstick! The packaging is sturdy, easy to use and mess free.

Nectar is a beautiful bright coral shade with orange undertones. It reminds me of L’Oreal Paris Color Riche Pink Passion Lipstick in terms to texture and creaminess but nectar leans more towards orange than pink. There are no messy shimmers or glitters. The finish is very creamy, averagely pigmented and moisturizing. It took 1-2 swipes to cover my pigmented lips fully.

At first, it gave a slight neon-y finish but then, it settled to a beautiful coral in few minutes after application. The shade is very summery and it is suitable for all skin tones. Some bloggers have mentioned that this shade will be not suitable for ‘dusky skin tones’ but on my dark skin, it shows good. (I think so!) After all, its all about carrying the shade confidentially. If you are darker than me, then it might wash out if not worn the proper way. I need a good makeup base to carry this bright coral. Sometimes it shows up slightly pink on my lips after 2-3 hours and I am wondering why.

I fell in absolute love with this lipstick. Shade 13 from MUA didn’t suit me that much as its a bright red – and it also adds age to my look. But this perky coral is very suitable for day looks and night looks; you can wear it when you are planning to go out with friends. I sometimes use this lipstick as my cream blush too and it brings out a lovely glow on my face.

The staying power ranges between 2-4 hours without food. It once stayed on me more than 5 hours too and it survived my horlicks :P For a one pound lipstick, the quality and staying power are amazing. Due to the creamy texture, it might melt in summers. I guess I will finish this bullet very soon! (Credit goes to the creaminess)

Why I like?:

  • Affordable price
  • Super creamy, non drying texture
  • Good pigmentation
  • Wearable bright coral shade
  • Staying power is really good for the price
  • Sturdy packaging
  • Bonus little pot attatched at the bottom
  • This shade will suit all skin types
  • Can also be used as a soft coral blush

Why I don’t like?:

  • However I exfoliate and prep my lips, it sometimes settle into fine lines
  • Melts off easily in summers
  • Have a mini brunch and its all gone!

Rating: 4.5/5

Would I Repurchase?:

Definitely! I am planning to stock up 2-3 bullets of this same shade nectar next time when I shop from MUA. I purchased this lipstick recently with some other MUA products which you can find in My Recent MUA Haul
