Maybelline Hyper Sharp Eyeliner: Review and Swatches

Hello ladies! Today’s review features another brilliant product from Maybelline. I think that, by now, we are all quite used to Maybelline’s amazing quality products for reasonable prices, aren’t we? The Hyper Sharp eyeliner is a bit steeply priced compared to other Maybelline products but read on to know why it’s worth the slightly larger hole in your pocket!

Price and Quantity:

Rs 375 for 0.5 g

My Take:

The eyeliner comes in a classy black and gold plastic packaging which is very light weight. It’s like a pen actually and that’s funny because drawing lines with this eyeliner will come to you as naturally as writing. The tip is very sharp (It actually is 0.05 mm!!) and so you can draw the thinnest lines possible with it. Do you girls realize what that means?! The possibilities are endless!

Thin lines as close to your eyelashes as is humanly possible, thick lines that are super precise and perfectly tracing the shape of your eyes, gorgeous feline flicks for cat eyes – ALL of these are a piece of cake with this eyeliner. It is perfection in a plastic casing!

According to the outer plastic seal (which I tore in a hurry to get to this eyeliner :P) the eyeliner is waterproof but you can wash it off easily with soap and water. That sounds contradictory, but it’s sort of true. The liner won’t start running at the slightest hint of water and it doesn’t go fully even with water. But you can remove it with soap and water. So I guess you could say that it is water resistant, not waterproof. It is smudge proof too.

The eyeliner stays on my semi-oily eyelids for about 7-8 hours – come on, I didn’t really expect that 24 hour claim to hold up anyway! It has a slightly matte finish, with a shine.

I just can’t get over how easy this is to use, it’s really unbelievable. I usually have to pull my eyelid taut to put on eyeliner; I didn’t even have to do that! Overall I absolutely adore this eyeliner and I really hope it doesn’t dry out too soon, because these eyeliners tend to dry up relatively faster than others. Fingers crossed!

(Both pics show Hyper Sharp liner on the upper eyelid and Maybelline Colossal Kajal on the waterline. In the second pic, you can see a lot of gap between the eyeliner and my lash line, which needs to be covered using kohl/liner via tight lining. However, the purpose of that pic is just to show you how thin the line can get, so please ignore the gap! :)

Why I like?:

  • Very precise application
  • Super easy to draw all types of lines
  • Water resistant; easily removable with soap and water
  • Jet black, semi-matte finish with shine
  • Smudge proof, sweat proof
  • Stays on the eyes for about 7 hours

Why I don’t like?:

  • Slightly expensive given the quantity

Rating: 100 /5

Final Word:

The new love of my life – the eyeliner what it claims to do, and how! It is precise and accurate, smooth and fine, and pigmented. If you have trouble getting even lines with liquid liners, pick this one up and I promise you will not regret the amount you have paid for it!

Do I Recommend this?:

YES! I’d only tell you to think twice about this eyeliner if you like your eyeliner to be very thick, because then you would have to swipe it quite a few times to get a thick line. For others – please go pick this up immediately if you haven’t!

Will I repurchase?:

100% yes
