L’Oreal Paris Smooth Intense Instant Smoothing Serum Review

by Mansi

Hello All!
I have dry hair and frizzy too and unmanageable also and oily scalp too and I HATE MY HAIR :( :( (all thanks to re-bonding). One day my friend recommended me to use L’Oreal Smooth Intense Instant Smoothing Serum for smoother and manageable hair, without thinking twice I purchased it. Lets move onto the review now.

Claims of the Serum:

L’Oreal Paris Smooth Intense Instant Smoothing Serum works through its anti-frizz and anti-volume action, curbing humidity led dampness of hair while preventing waves or volume from resuming their form.

  • 10 times smoother hair
  • Retains smoothness for 48 hours
  • Contains Argan Oil and Silk Protein
  • Keeps hair light and manageable

Price:

Rs. 240

Directions to use:

Apply onto washed and dried or dry hair. Pour several drops of serum onto the palm. Rub hands together and distribute evenly along the length of the hair. Do not rinse out.

My Take on L’Oreal Paris Smooth Intense Instant Smoothing Serum:

The serum is packed in plastic bottle; I wish it was transparent so that you could know how much amount is remaining but never mind.

The serum is transparent light fluid just like water. :P It has a very pleasant which is very mild and I like it but it fades away after 5 minutes of application.

I washed my hair with conditioner though I think conditioner does nothing great to my hair even high end brands too (yes Schwarzkopf I am talking to you). I use it on my towel dried hair because I think it’ll work better this way (funny :P). I require 2-3 pumps of the serum to cover all my hair. It spreads easily onto my hair since the texture is smooth. When I applied the serum onto my hair; it got absorbed easily and doesn’t make hair greasy although it claims to have argan oil.

It makes hairs soft, shiny, tangle free and no hair fall at all so full marks for that. But the effects don’t last for long and that’s the biggest con for me. I can’t carry the bottle of serum to my college and reapply it. So, the claim of manageable hair is not correct as it controls my frizz only to an extent and I end up getting fly-away’s after 2 hours though it makes my hair smoother for whole day (5-6 hours) and I love it for that. But I’m sure girls having less frizzy hair will love it for sure.

Coming to the claims, it gives me smoother hair but 10 times smoother? Definitely no! But I am happy with the smoothness my hair gets after using it. The smoothness stays for all day but definitely not 48 hours as it claims to do. It also claims to manage hair which is true but the results are not long lasting. Overall it’s a good serum but there are better brands in the market than this.

Why I like this Serum?:

  • Very affordable compared to other brands
  • Makes hair smooth or I should say smoother
  • Non-sticky
  • Contains argan oil and silk protein
  • Adds shine
  • Controls frizz
  • Makes hair tangle free (thus no hair fall)

Why I don’t like this Serum?:

  • Doesn’t control frizz for long time

Will I Recommend?

Yes. If you don’t use any serum then it can be your first one!

Will Repurchase?:

Yes! Until I find something better!

Have you tried Loreal Hair Serums? How are they?

  1. Hahaha Mansi I absolutely love the way you write :D Nice review, I think I may try this out. I’ve never used a serum before!

  2. oh…sweety..:(..do one thing…use the whole trio shampoo, conditioner and serum…and then see if its works….its my Hg serum…its is amazing for me….also…instead of towel dried, apply on wet hair itself:):)

    1. this is an unconditional rule in dry frizzy hair care…..never ever ever…shampoo on dry hair….always oil …at least for an hour….warm oil if you can…and overnight oil is best way…you will be amazed to see the difference…:)

    2. well i think 4 years….i dont know but somehow having serum as the only product with silicone in my hair care is not a bad thing for me at least…my hairs have never been better:)…all my other hair care products are completely silicone free…:)

    3. good mansi….also…never ever ever do shampoo on dry hair…and dont ever rub your hair with towels…first point which leads to frizz…let it dry naturally or by sunlight..oil it first atleast for an hour, warm oil if you can, over night oiling is best. you will be amazed at the transformation. trust me i know how frizzy curly hairs can get. you wont believe me if you see my hair that once it was as dry as a drought land :)

    4. Dharu you won’t believe i do all above! :( Hot oil massage, apply egg once a week, i don’t blow dry or iron my hairs at all (before i did but from 5-6 months i haven’t touched them). My hair problems never end :P

  3. I am using Loreal x-tenso serum, they control fizz well however I didnt like how hair start smelling after a day or two
