How to Lighten Dark Elbow, Knee and Armpit Skin at Home?

Most of us have more or less dark elbow, knee and armpit skin. Some are very lucky in this matter, but, for those who are not, it becomes an embarrassing episode when it comes to reveal these areas. There are many ways to lighten those dark skin areas over a period of time. These areas are little bit drier than the other parts of our body.

Resting our elbows on the armrest of our chairs or kneeling down on our knees or using too much body spray directly on the skin; we do this daily without our conscience and this affects a lot to our skin and makes them darker than other body parts.

To Lighten Dark Skin Areas:

These areas need some special care in order to make them appear lighter in tone than they are. Here are some remedies that will help you in this matter.

Exfoliation: This is the best way to remove dead cells from your skin. Gently exfoliate your elbow, knee and armpit area while you are taking bath with a loofah and your favorite body washes. You can also use body scrubs on these areas 3-4 times a week.

Moisturizing: After every bath, do not forget to apply moisturizer on these areas. Use shea butter or cocoa butter moisturizer for better results as these are deep moisturizer. If you have dry skin, use olive oil for deep moisturizing.

Homemade Packs:

Baking soda: Mix one tablespoon baking powder with one cup water and apply this solution 3-4 times a day on these areas. This will help lighten the areas faster.

Potato: Cut a potato slice and rub it on the areas that you want to lighten. Like baking soda, potato is also a bleaching agent.

Honey, Tomato juice and Turmeric powder: Mix one tablespoon honey, juice of half a tomato, and a pinch of turmeric powder. Apply the paste on the areas and leave it to dry. Wash with plain water.

Glycerin, Milk, Turmeric powder and Gram flour: Mix one tablespoon glycerin, three tablespoon raw milk, one pinch of turmeric powder and two tablespoon gram flour. Apply this paste on the areas and wash after 20 minutes.

Lemon Juice, Salt, Sugar and Coconut oil: Prepare a mixture with one tablespoon of each ingredient. Use this mixture as scrub and gently massage those areas with this. This will help reduce the darkness of the skin while the salt and sugar will remove the dead cells.

Papaya and Honey: Cut two big slices of papaya and mix with two tablespoons of honey, apply this soothing pack on the skin and wash after 20 minutes.

Wear Cotton: Always wear cotton cloths, nylon or chiffon clothes can be harsh on your skin. Especially the underarm area needs comfortable fabric as it goes through sweat and bruising against your body. Soft breathable cotton clothes are recommended to keep your skin soft and smooth.

With these simple steps you can achieve a perfect overall look for yourself. One thing you should keep in mind that this is not an overnight process as any chemical treatment; you will have to be patient and take care of your skin.
