I love shopping online just because it saves time and I do not have to travel from place to place searching for any product. Online shopping has become a trend now and everyone is shopping online – comfortably! However, shopping online has its own Pros and Cons.
Advantages of Online Shopping:
Online shopping saves your valuable time: I know all of you will agree with me on this point. Shopping online definitely saves time, as you do not have to go physically to a shop to check out the products.
Shopping online saves the travelling expenses: Again, I am sure you agree with me. When you shop online you do not have to travel from one place to the other via vehicles, be it rickshaw, car, bus, taxi, etc. Thus, you save the money you would have paid for the travel.
You do not have to wait for the shops to open: Online shops do not have a shutter that stays shut at night and opens in the morning. You can shop at any time, on any day, that is, even on Sundays! Thus, when you shop online, you are not bound by time limitations.
Easy-peasy method: Unlike local shops, you do not have to wait to see if the item you want is in stock or not. All you need to shop online is a simple click and your order will be placed! It is extremely easy and most of the times, shopping online is not confusing.
You get to compare prices: When you shop from a local store, you do not get the option to compare prices and then buy that item, conveniently. You have to travel from one shop to the other searching for the best deal. However, when you shop online, you easily get to compare prices among the numerous online shops and get the best deal, easily, without much effort.
International products: You can get products, which are not available in your country by shopping online from sites, which ship internationally. Thus, if you really want a product, which is unavailable in your country, you can shop online and get it delivered to your home. However, the shipping charges, custom duties, etc. may be a bit high.
Disadvantages of Online Shopping
Risk of getting cheated, heavy shipping charges etc: After you place a prepaid order with your credit/ debit card one some site, there is always a risk of the site storing your card details and then using those details to withdraw more and more money from your account without your knowledge. In addition, you may have to pay heavy shipping charges, which is far more than the normal amount required. You may get expired products, broken gadgets and then when you will try to return it, no one may pick up the call or respond to your emails.
Sometimes even if you are somehow successful in sending the product back to them, they may require a lot of time for sending the product back to you. The cost of sending the product may have to be borne by you! Sometimes, when you claim that you have received a damaged product, the customer care of the site may just reply by saying that the damage has been made due to rough handling, improper care, etc.
You may feel cheated but you would have nothing to do about it. All you can do is keep launching complaints in the consumer forums and you may post about it on Facebook to make everyone aware of that cheater site.
Cannot physically try out the product: This is probably the biggest con of online shopping. Whenever you go to any shop for buying a dress, you do check the clothing and the comfort level it would be able to provide to you. Whenever you go for cosmetics shopping, you DO check the quality, shade, etc. etc. However, when you shop online, you cannot physically touch the product and decide if it will work for you.
For example, most online shops display lipstick shades wrongly and when you try that new superb looking shade of lipstick out, it turns out to be of some other different looking shade. Choosing the right shade of foundation is the most difficult task when you shop online! Do you agree? (Yeah, I know you are nodding your head up and down, now) :P
Well, I will not say that you should get afraid and stop shopping online (Even if I say, I guess you won’t follow it) :P Maybe you should be a bit more careful in choosing the sites from where you shop. Be careful; ask your friends and family members who have already shopped from that site you want to shop from. That is just a warning. Nevertheless, I am sure all of you will agree that when that beautiful package of yours arrives, you get super excited. Shopping online is like giving yourself a surprise gift :P
Well, that ends my article! I hope you enjoyed reading through it :D Well, I want to ask you guys about the sites YOU trust. Do let me know so that I can also shop from them.
