Maybelline Color Sensational Lip Gloss Touch Of Toffee Review

Hey MABHians,

Have you ever had a hunt for your dream nude lip gloss? Your dream gloss would be something like this or something like that. I too had a dream about my gloss. It was like a nude brown (but not very brown) with a mild peach/mauve tint for that freshness, with less shimmers here and there or no shimmers at all, blah blah blah..

My dream was only a dream until I saw this sweetheart at the Maybelline counter. I went there to get “Hooked on Pink”, but it was out of stock. I was desperate to try something from this range. I quite liked the cranberry cocktail one, but it was a red lip gloss. Here, in Chennai if I wear a red gloss or even a red tinted lip balm and go out, people stare me as if I had jumped from an other planet. So I gave up. Suddenly I saw this shade, as usual my eyes was popping out to try the color. I swatched it, Oh my God it was exactly the same gloss which I had in my dreams. Whooooaaaa!! I was jumping up high. I brought my sweetheart home :D So here’s the review.

My Take:

I don’t think we all need an introduction for this brand ‘Maybelline’. It is one of the brand that gives good quality products at an affordable price. The packaging is simple and smart. It has a rectangular body with a doe foot applicator. It looks smart and chic as a lip gloss.

Touch of Toffee is a nude brown with less shimmers. I think this shade looks good on everyone. But this will wash out very dark skin tones. Fair dusky girls will love it for sure. The thing is you cant wear this one just like that. It will make you feel dull. So best to combine with smokey/heavy kohled eyes, so your lips are not going to be the center of attraction. I don’t do eye makeup so I apply it after a lip liner to make it a bit bright.

P.S: I have included the nail picture because the nail color and the lip gloss color are the same :P, also this is my first nail art , sorry for the clumsiness I’m absolutely NEW.

This lip gloss has a consistency that is neither thick nor runny. Just perfect. Its not sticky like some glosses (Yes, I’m talking to you Coloressence!) . The shimmers in it doesn’t feel gritty. It actually plumps up the lips making it look healthy. It smells very minty. Actually not bad. And funny thing is I feel a tingling sensation after I apply this, like you apply fresh mint leaves paste over your lips. It is me alone or even others? It is moisturizing actually so you don’t need a lip balm at all.

Talking about the main part, this sweetheart doesn’t stay with me for a long time. Just 2-2.5hrs without snacks or worn with a lip liner and 1-2 hrs with mild snacks. It will surely not survive meals. Just like their lipsticks :( (Why Maybelline Why?)

PROS:

  • Affordable (Yaaaay)
  • Easily available
  • Stunning nude shade, beautiful I mean
  • Universally flattering shade
  • Smells nice
  • Smart packaging
  • Moisturizing (doesn’t dry out)

CONS:

  • Staying power (it is a con too)
  • Tingling sensation (I dunno if its only for me)

Rating: 4.5/5 (I’m sorry sweetheart its your punishment for leaving me soon)

Do I Recommend?:

Definitely for the shade! Every girl needs a nude shade right? To school/college teens like me, for the price tag and for girls who don’t mind touching up often.

Would I Repurchase ?:

Will I live without my sweetheart ? NOOO. So I will definitely repurchase.
