Colorbar Velvet Matte Lipstick Obsessed Orange Review and Swatches

Hey All!

Colorbar Velvet Matte lipsticks are affordable, with great staying power, and the colors are rumored to be inspired by many dupes of bigger, better brands. The brand brought out a color in their velvet matte range that was the hot favorite of all beauty blogs last year and was instrumental in starting off an Orange craze in the Indian beauty blogsphere.

Within a month, the color was all over the place, sold out on a number of portals, and was being sought after by virtually every one. After using the color Obsessed Orange for nearly a year, here is my review.

Price and Quanity:

Rs. 250 for 4.2 gm

My Take:

Colorbar has a standard transparent silver packaging with a shiny band of color at the bottom of the package, which makes it very easy for us to find it. In case you are wondering, the shiny band at the bottom can be detached, and about half a gram of the lipstick is embedded there.

So if you have hit the bottom but still have a few days to go before purchasing another one, just open the bottom and start application. It is quite travel friendly, and although the plastic gets scratched a lot, otherwise nothing has happened to it in the extended stay inside my travel bag.

The name, Obsessed Orange, brings to mind something neon, and the color is frighteningly so in the tube. However, when you first swatch it, you would be pleasantly surprised to see a much more controllable medium opaque creamy coral orange color, without glitters or shimmers, which glides on easily.

I have seen that the color looks great on those under NC 43, but with careful application with an eye to not let the color build up too much to look patchy or chalky, it can be used by many. I generally put on one swipe of it on my lips, and it spreads on a semi sheer note. I like that a lot. It bleeds slightly, so I would suggest lining your lips before application.

Staying Power: The staying power, without eating and drinking, is about 4 hours, which is pretty decent for the price and my lips do not look patchy or dry, as it does after I apply some other colors from much more well known and expensive brands (Yes, MAC, I am looking at you!).

On My Lips:

PROS:

  • Lovely color
  • Travel-friendly
  • Does not dry out my lips
  • Staying power is good
  • Inexpensive
  • Available quite easily
  • Buildable color

CONS:

  • Bleeds slightly

Rating: 4.5/5

Overall views:

I am very happy with the color itself and would recommend it to those who want to use a lovely coral
orange color in this season.
